About this property

Cosy cottage with stunning sea and harbour views

Cliff Cottage is a comfortable, cosy 19th century fisherman's cottage forming part of a terrace above the bustling traditional fishing harbour of Mevagissey. With stunning sea and harbour views, spectacular coastline and unique experiences on your doorstep, a holiday here will leave you relaxed, refreshed, with plenty to tell your friends! It is perfect for watching the boats coming in and out of the harbour or the waves crashing on the harbour walls during stormier weather. A peaceful location, set up on the cliff, just a short walk to pubs, restaurants and shops full of locally sourced food and drink… locally caught fish a speciality! Fantastic for walkers, the cottage is right on the South West Coast Path in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. And for those with sea legs, there are plenty of boats for hire, fishing trips and even a ferry to the lovely town of Fowey. An excellent base for exploring the beaches, pretty villages and attractions of South Cornwall. Superfast broadband

** Please note there is no vehicle access and you must walk up a hill to reach the cottage **

NIGHTMARE PROPERTY
I tried on many occasions to contact the owner of this property prior to leaving my home nearly 300 miles away, I left messages and still I never heard anything back from them. It became apparent why the moment we opened the front door……..a smell of damp and dirt attacked our nostrils and our eyes fixed on the make shift building site holding up the ceiling! There had been a leak the owner informed us when she eventually answered her mobile “the builders have assured us it’s perfectly safe”. As we were a party of blokes who had already paid for boat trips from the harbour we decided to stay after not being able to find other accommodation at such short notice. BIG MISTAKE HUGE MISTAKE! Every day we had to open the windows to let the stench out even in the rain. The rain also came through the gaps in the ceiling. It’s surprising it never ran along the wires that were also hanging down the walls. Our total trip away was a complete disaster, we also contacted VRBO and sent them pictures of the building site in hope that they would be able to help, at first they were very helpful informing us that they would look into the matter for us and be back with their findings. Cheap words as it’s now been three months and they haven’t got back to me to explain or offer compensation to us. NEVER again will I use this company. Let’s hope the property has been made safe for future paying customers. I hope to be able to post photos for you all to see.

Stunning views!
I concur with previous reviewers in as much, yes it needs a little TLC down stairs sofas for one! However, the kitchen is well stocked, the beds are super comfy, shower hot and then you have the views. WOW! Great holiday had in a very reasonably priced cottage.

This lovely cottage has everything you need still a little bit old but we have loved that.
This property is very clean and tidy might be a bit outdated for some but for us we had everything and totally loved it The views are just incredible and everyone is so friendly You don't need to leave the cottage/ harbour as everything you need is right there. We have already made the decision to book again

Lovely holiday
The cottage was clean & comfortable. Great location if you like walking. Plenty of good places to eat nearby. The cottage is a little dated but the facilities were more than adequate. Very comfortable beds & good quality bed linen & towels provided. We would stay again.
