About this property

Bring The Family To Our Corner Of The Finger Lakes

UPDATE: Due to Covid-19, there are some changes to ensure safety. We ask you to work with us so we have enough time to assure proper cleaning.

Description
Comfortable year round home located on Waynes Point in a quiet section of east shore of Cayuga Lake. This is pretty much what you would expect in a nice lakefront cottage.

Upstairs
Four bedrooms sleep eight upstairs with a full bath. The upstairs bathroom has a tub/shower combo. Three of the rooms have queen beds, the fourth has two singles. None of these rooms is large but all have ceiling fans, closets and dressers. You spend most of your time outdoors anyway and these rooms do the job. Central air/heat

DOWNSTAIRS
1) Leather couches, flat screen TV (cable and WiFi), Fireplace
2) A separate sitting area for reading, sleeping (large couch),
3) Large indoor porch with two couches (queen sleeper sofas) and a four seat table to enjoy the lake views.
4)There is a new full bath on the first floor off the porch with a stall shower .
Central air/heat.

KITCHEN
The kitchen has plenty of storage and all the usual appliances. There is enough counter space to make lunches and dinners comfortably. There is also a table in the kitchen which often gets used for food prep or as a buffet for family style dinners.
Kitchen has its own window A/C unit to keep the cooks cool.

Just outside the kitchen is a large dining room with a table that can seat 8-10. It can be used as the center for meals or for other family activities; board games, cards, crafts etc.

The center of activity outside is the raised deck off the porch. This is a large space with an eating area that seats 8 plus a sitting area with lounges and chairs that can seat another 6-8. On nice days, most meals happen on the deck. The large weeping willow tree and umbrellas keep things cool and you have a front row seat for lake activities or our beautiful sunsets.

Down below there is a large lakefront lawn area with a fire pit. The long seawall is a great spot for shallow water fishing, as is the boat dock. The dock has stair access to the swimming area which starts out shallow and very slowly deepens as you walk out. The water at the end of the 60' dock is deep enough to safely bring in a boat with an outboard motor or outdrive. A 4500lb boat hoist is on the end of the dock and is available for your boat. The hoist will not accommodate a poontoon boat. Water shoes are recommended for swimming.

There is a second building on the property; a three car garage. There is outside parking for six cars and enough space for a boat trailer. Inside the garage there is a new, half bath and a full laundry with a large capacity washer/dryer. These are available for use by occupants of the main cottage.
Other particulars are city water/sewer, large capacity hot water heater, and central air. Linens provided (sheets and towels). Checkin is 5pm, checkout is 10am. May be modified as needed to ensure proper cleaning.

Family visit to Cayuga Lake
We had a wonderful week at Joe and Madonna's cottage on their lake front property. The location was amazing and the fishing was great with easy lake access. Joe was very responsive and helpful during our stay. The wonderful owners were so friendly, respectful, and accessible. The property is very clean, well maintained and well equipped. Enjoyed our family time together; boating, kayaking, tubing with the grandchildren, and exploring the area. Thank you for having us.

Relaxing long weekend
We had a fantastic stay at Joe and Madonna’s place. The location of this place was absolutely amazing! The house had everything we needed and was the perfect place to rest and rejuvenate. The use of the dock for our boat and kayaks made this place exactly what we were looking for. Joe was very responsive and helpful during our stay. We are already talking about our trip for next year. Thanks again!

About the host

Our family has owned this cottage for over 30 years. We bought the cottage to have a place where our family could all be together in a fun setting. It has served us well; our kids always wanted to come and spend time with their grandparents rather than visit at their regular home. But now we are at the point in life where our parents are older and the grandchildren are grown but not yet with families of their own. They are off building their lives and the cottage is often empty. We have decided to rent out the cottage on a limited basis and hope other families can enjoy it as much as ours has over the years.

Why they chose this property

First, the location is great. The north east side of Cayuga has no large towns; its mostly dairy farms and houses along the lake shore. This area has never seen much development and as a result, it offers a decent amount of privacy. Other Finger Lakes can get quite busy (and more expensive) as they are closer to Rochester or Syracuse. Cayuga is the middle Lake and just far enough from the cities to keep from getting crowded. Having said that, our cottage is located close to wineries and the shopping outlets as well as the cities of Auburn and Seneca Falls. That puts you within reach of any stores you might need as well as decent restaurants, cinemas etc. Easy access off the NYS Thruway or Rt 5&20, forty five minutes from Ithaca and Syracuse; an hour from Rochester. The Del Lago Casino is about 20 minutes away as are the Waterloo Outlets.

Next, the house is very comfortable. It has nice furnishings, but we've always tried to keep the place such that kids could run around, lounge on the furniture, eat lunch on the deck etc. Sure, we want a damage deposit, but rest assured, your child won't be the first to sit on a couch with a damp bathing suit. Have fun, just keep it nice for the next family.

Finally, the place is very relaxing. I don't know if its the fresh air, the water activities or drinks on the deck at sunset, but time just seems to slow down here. Plan on surprising yourself by taking an afternoon nap once you arrive. It just seems to happen; probably part of the process of slowing down. Many of our guests for the weekend go back to city life feeling they've been gone for a full week.

What makes this property unique

Anyway, the place works for a few couples looking for a break, wine tours, reunions, or especially families looking for an old style summer getaway with the kids. Its a terrific place for family vacations with the grandparents at a reasonable price. It will take you back to the type of vacation you enjoyed when you were young. A great place to get the kids off their phones for a week.
