The CABIN is set up in the Alaskan Homesteaders cabin style, one large room with a-joining bathroom. There is one 3 piece in door bathroom w/stand up shower, sink and toilet. A full size stackable washer and dryer, (something the old Alaskan homesteaders wished they’d had!) 1 queen bed, a queen futon and twin rollaway. We offer a nice kitchen with microwave, gas cook stove, full size fridge w/freezer, Keurig/coffee pods, dishes, pots & pans, linens, towels, We have Directv & Wireless Internet. Summer visitors will have a fire pit/1 bundle of wood, an outdoor gas grill and a patio area with seating for 4.
Scott and I live on the property so we are available to answer any questions you may have while staying at the Cabin. We enjoy interacting with our guests but know how to respect our guests privacy also.

Denali stay
Enjoyed our stay! Owners were great. Communicated with us on or check in day to ask when we were going to arrive. When we replied we would be arriving late they offered to make up the futon so it would be ready when we arrived. Great to walk in late and have everything ready. Very clean and comfortable place to stay.

Wonderful Stay at Copper Cabin
We loved our stay at The Copper Cabin in Cantwell, Alaska. It was perfect for our visit to Denali National Park. The property is about 25 miles south of the park, which was nice because the area outside the NP is crowded and busy. The Copper Cabin was sparkling clean with every amenity you could think of. The bed was cozy and comfortable, the wifi worked well, there was TV with Netflix, and great hot water. A lot of love and care has gone into this property and it shows. They even provided some snacks, great coffee, and a fully equipped and immaculate kitchen. The property owner was attentive and easy to communicate with. The property is easy to locate too. We loved our stay and hated to leave!

Denali Experience
Cabin was very clean. It had everything you would ever need and a whole lot more! We were able to use the gas grill a couple of times. Vivian was great to communicate with and was very responsive. It was nice to be that close to Denali without being around all the crowds while trying to relax for the evening. Also there is a great BBQ food truck right in Cantwell that is open wed thru sun. We had the ribs and they were great.We would definitely stay again!

Cute cabin!
We loved this cabin! Perfect size for two of us. Very clean with modern conveniences. Comfortable bed with lots of pillows, well-stocked kitchen, great view with outdoor patio, spacious bathroom, comfortable recliner and couch...Highly recommend!

My name is Vivan Mayo and my husband of 40 years is Scott P Mayo. Scott and I are long time Alaskans with many tales to tell. I am proud to call myself a lifetime Alaskan! I was born in Anchorage AK and moved to Cantwell AK in 1964. Scott came to Alaska from the midwest in 1970. He fell in love with the freedom of Alaska the moment he stepped off the plane. Scott and I married in 1975 and have raised 3 wonderful children here in Cantwell. Scott worked 30yrs for the State Hwy Department retiring in 2008. Thirty years of plowing snow was enough for him! Now let me tell you about the fun stuff...snowmobiling, icefishing, winter & summer camping, hunting, fly fishing, 4 wheeling, gold dredging...we do it all and more. Scott and I are getting a little older and wider but we try not to let that stop us. Surrounded by the natural beauty and bounty of the area is a blessing. We fill our freezer with moose meat and pick blueberries for canning each fall.

Why they chose this property

Scott and I have lived in a few different locations here in Cantwell. As a child I live in the old town of Cantwell in a small trailer house. After Scott and I married we lived in a small log cabin without electricity and indoor plumbing. We had a hand pump for water. After we had the kids Scott bought me a gasoline washing machine. I had to pump three 5 gallon buckets of water to fill that washer up! I was one strong chick! In 1985 we sold our small cabin and decided to build a bigger home for our growing family. Scott, with the help of some of our neighbors put the roof on the main cabin just before the snow flew in the winter of 1987. We have been modernize and making improvements for the last 20 years. We added our little Cantwell Cottage a few years ago as housing for our Grayjay Snowmobile clients. Eventhough Cantwell didn't have commercial power or TV until the mid 80's we have now caught up with the rest of the world. Modern technology is a wonderful thing but its easy to forget to "log on" when your surrounded by Alaska's beauty. We hope you enjoy the area as much as we do.

What makes this property unique

We live a simple life here. Coffee in the morning sitting on the porch swing listening to the birds and swatting a mosquito or two 😉. With mountains views, wildlife and abundance Alaska has to offer we have almost everything we need right outside our door. Literally right outside our door...we have had moose (Matilda), caribou (eating our lawn), fox and a couple of young bears come through over the years. Scott and I hope you relax and enjoy your stay in our neck of the woods. And don't forget...30 minutes away you have access to great restaurants, drinking establishments, gift shops, coffee shops, icecream shop and all the outdoor activities /sightseeing Denali National Park has to offer.
