About this property

Curacao's Finest Diving is Just Steps Away From this Well-equipped Modern Villa.

Absolutely perfect location. Our two story townhome is perched above the beautiful azure waters of Westpunt Bay. Picturesque views of the quaint fishing village, calm seas, and lush tropical foliage add to the charm of this resort community. Pick up your car at the airport and travel west to an area that seems untouched by development or cruise ship crowds. Divers will appreciate the easy access to the calm and protected waters of the west end and the healthy and abundantly populated coral reefs just a few meters from shore. Two PADI dive operations are nearby for equipment rentals and boat diving for those who want to explore further offshore. Hikers and sightseers can take advantage of the two nearby national parks with rocky shores, crashing waves, or mountain trails. Come back to the resort and cool off in the large pool or just relax on the spacious deck.
Be sure to join your neighbors at the sea wall each evening for the spectacular sunsets.

Despite the tranquil and untouched setting of Marazul, guests will enjoy all of the comforts of home. Each floor is equipped with air conditioning and a ceiling fan and both levels are fully screened. The first floor of the unit has a living area featuring a reclining love seat .Those who require technology will appreciate the high speed internet and flat screen TV . The kitchen has a four burner gas cook top, microwave, dishwasher, and all of the usual small appliances. There is a full three piece bathroom conveniently situated just inside the back door. Outside the front door, enjoy your breakfast or lunch on the patio facing the sea. In the nicely decorated upstairs bedroom you will find a queen sized bed with a memory foam topper, a full sized dresser, and another flat screen TV. The upstairs bathroom is mirror image of the one below. Sliding doors open on to a spacious deck with shaded seating. There is also a washing machine for your convenience.

The weather on the island of Curacao is fantastic. Winter temperatures usually mean lows in the mid 70's with highs in the mid 80's. Summer temps will be just a few degrees warmer and October is the warmest month. Consistent winds from the east to the west allow many to sleep with the windows open instead of using the air conditioning. The climate of Curacao is considered to be tropical savanna. Rainfalls total between 20-22 inches per year. Even during the rainy season (early winter) the daytime rain is punctuated with periods of bright sunshine and most rains are at night.

Curacao is a sightseer's dream. The island has enjoyed a rich history which is still in evidence today. A large and protected natural seaport made the island the commercial and cultural hub of the Netherlands Antilles for the past 500 years. Columbus was one of the early explorers to visit her shores. Much of the early history and culture of Curacao is proudly displayed in the many museums and colorful "landhuises" which dot the countryside. There are "Kodak moments" at every turn. The island's 38 beaches are generally tucked between coral cliffs or rolling hills. Most are secluded and intimate. The best beaches are found on the island's west end where we are. Photographers will be captivated by the number of unique vistas that will be found in a day's exploration.

Marazul Dive Resort
The property is very pretty. Great for divers and snorklers away from the city. Several beautiful beaches near by and also a few very good restaurants in the area. I would recommend this.

Host was very hands-on with helping with any questions we might have. Quiet location just what we wanted. Great diving and snorkeling 100 feet from the front door. Very friendly guest in the resort. Beautiful pool. Very short walk to 3 restaurants and 2 beaches. Short drive to many great beaches, restaurants and points of interest. Without a doubt this was the most relaxing vacation ever! I believe having a car is a must.

Nice beach house in a quiet location
Great place to stay if you are happy to be far away from the busy touristic life of Curacao. The North of the island is fantastic for nature lovers and people who love to have a quiet vacation. The beach house is nice and cosy and has everything you need for a great stay. Bed is amazing and so is the reclining love seat. There is a constant breeze which is nice as well. We had a relaxing week. Let's not forget about Beth and Phil who are amazing hosts and respond to messages in no time.

About the host

Host profile image
Phil is a professor of education (semi-retired) and sports memorabilia auctioneer for the Ted Williams charities at the Tampa Bay Rays games. Beth is a nurse, retired after 40 years. We have lived in Clearwater, Florida for the past 28 years and are both looking forward to many more years of enjoying Marazul together. Scuba diving is our passion and our Marazul home couldn't be in a better place for it.

Why they chose this property

We can't fully describe out favorite place on earth without detailing the reasons we chose this particular location on this particular island. First, let me say that we are coastal Florida residents and have been scuba divers for 20 years. We have traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean and have ventured as far away as the Red Sea. At every location we visited we would ask ourselves "Is this the place for us?" There was always a reason we crossed off other locations, even though we enjoyed the diving there. After our first trip to the west end of Curacao, we were "hooked." We made two additional visits in the next year, and bought out Marazul home on the third trip. Nowhere else did we find the combination of diving, accommodations, infrastructure, and ease of travel. The ease of excellent shore diving sealed the deal. Being able to set our own schedule (read: no 8AM boat dive starts) and pick our own places (at a fraction of the cost of boat diving) was the icing on the cake. We can't say enough about the convenience of being able to walk out the front door, walk 50 or 60 paces to the stairs, and jump in to the turquoise sea. Getting to know "who" lives under certain coral heads or sponges, or "who" to expect hanging out under the ladder/dock makes each dive just that much more special. (And it is a bonus for the underwater photographer.) With so many quality dive sites scattered along the western and southern coast we will never run out of enjoyable places to explore.

What makes this property unique

Multiple dive shops within minutes. The house reef is steps away and is teeming with fish. It is not uncommon to find a turtle or an octopus right under the dive ladder.
