Perfect spot!
We stayed in many vacation rentals during our 6 weeks in northern Spain, and this was the best! We loved the area for hiking and enjoyed returning to this charming cottage to enjoy the patio in the late afternoon sun or to get a cozy fire going in the fireplace at night. Lucy was very helpful and attentive. We would recommend this to anyone who is comfortable with stone steps.

Wonderful holiday!
We had a wonderful holiday at Casa Petirrojo, celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. The accommodation was excellent, spotless, warm, well organised and had everything we required. The setting was quite spectacular and the Casa was in easy reach (a short walk) of all amenities. With plenty of walks and outstanding scenery in every direction, you would need weeks and weeks to experience everything on offer, but we did pretty well and will definitely be back. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Ausgezeichnet

Fantastic stay in a first class property
Right from the start Lucy and Simon's response time was quick, so we had no worries there. The directions they gave us from the airport to the property was easy to follow. Lucy was there to meet us with a welcoming bottle off wine and a lovely bowl off fruit and showed us around the property. The property it self was first class very clean and everything you need ( Home from Home). There was no parking at the property but there is a large car park nearby 3 min walk away. It was lovely to be woken up each morning with the church bells and the views from the property to die for. As keen bird watchers Lucy recommended a couple off places to visit, which we took up and glad we did saw Lammergeier close up and Red kite on the nest, the only downfall we didn't get to see the wall creeper, in a two week stay in the Pyrenees 8 days in Torla and 5 days in the lowlands we got to see 143 species. Torla it self is an ideal base to explore the Pyrenees, there are plenty off bars and places to eat thou we did eat in a lot . The locals were very friendly and helpful. Overall we can see why Lucy and Simon fell in love with this place, we have toured all over Spain and this is the first time in the Pyrenees, and like they say we have saved the best to last. We will definitely be back. Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely property. Janet Dale

We are an English family who moved here 12 years ago after falling in love with this stunning and unspoilt corner of the Spanish Pyrenees. We are keen outdoor and wildlife enthusiasts, and this is reflected in the activity holidays we run during the year. This area is perfect for hiking, wildlife watching, including the endangered lammergeier, enjoying local cuisine and produce, and seeing the huge variety of Pyrenees flowers and butterflies. We also grow a lot of our own organic vegetables and fruit, so summer and autumn visitors are often welcomed with samples of our homegrown produce!
We live in a nearby village, so we normally welcome guests on arrival and are on hand to offer local advice or answer any questions you may have, to ensure you make the most of your stay.

Why they chose this property

The house is set apart from the bustle of the village yet close enough to be just 3 minutes walk up the steps to shops and amenities. It is south facing and has its own terrace. We clean and maintain the property ourselves and take great care to ensure you have everything you need for your stay. This includes basics such as toilet and kitchen rolls, teabags, coffee, sugar, oil, herbs, washing up liquid, washing powder etc. We prepare the beds according to the guest's requests and even put duvets on the beds in the winter. Bathroom, kitchen towels and bed linen are included in the price
Because we just live further down the valley we are on hand for any questions or advice.

Torla is in the heart of the Central Spanish Pyrenees. At 1100m altitude it is high enough to provide a lush green landscape even in summer yet far enough east to escape the rainfall more associated with the western Pyrenees. Not only is Torla the closest place to stay for walkers wanting to explore the National Park of Ordesa and Monte Perdido but Torla itself is also a great place to walk from, with numerous ancient footpaths to explore. Torla lies at the head of the valley of Ara, named after the river which is just 5 mins walk from the house. There is superb white water rafting in the spring and several secluded spots along this pristine river for a dip in summer. For Romanesque and Medieval architecture, Jaca to the West and Ainsa to the East are a short drive away.

What makes this property unique

The house is perfectly situated for quick access to the Ordesa National Park, whether in your own car or going by the shuttle bus which leaves from a stop 150m away. The pretty medieval village of Torla with its small shops and range of restaurants and bars is just 3 minutes walk up some steps. The house is south-facing and well sheltered so the sun terrace is the perfect place for dining “al fresco” from spring through to autumn. During the summer, the giant fig tree in front of the terrace provides welcome shade. Because the bedrooms are set on 2 different floors this provides maximum privacy between parents and older children or between 2 couples, each with their own bathroom. Conversely the upstairs rooms are ideal for younger families.
