Cozy house on Cowichan River. Private dock where you can watch the tubers float by and enjoy excellent swimming. The river is deep, so go ahead and dive in! The bedroom on the main floor has a queen size bed, with an adjoining sitting room, or additional bedroom just off of it. There is a bathroom with tub and shower just off that room as well. Upstairs has two adjoining bedrooms, one with a queen bed, the other has two singles, that can be put together depending on what works best.

About Kristina Contreras Roach

We are avid travelers who enjoy sharing our home. Ideally we'd be on the road most of the time, but work and life keeps us in Victoria, BC. Tom is a Victoria native who discovered Lake Cowichan on camping trips in his teenage years, while Kristina is from San Francisco, and has successfully transplanted herself to Victoria.

Kristina Contreras Roach purchased this cottage in 2015

Why Kristina Contreras Roach chose Lake Cowichan

We got our first glimps of what a magical place Lake Cowichan was about 12 years ago. We have family that had a "cabin" (RV) on the lake in a family-friendly park. We were lucky enough to enjoy weekends with them for a couple of years, before they sold. When we really fell in love with this area was ten years ago, in the week following our wedding. We had lots of friends in town and decided to rent a house on the lake so our out-of-town friends could experience it for themselves. So 18 of us packed in to an old house and spent our days swimming and nights cooking big feasts. That was when the dream was born, to have our own place on the water. It's taken some time, and lots of work, but we've finally found our little piece of heaven.

What makes this cottage unique

We choose this place because we could picture ourselves here for the next 50 years, swimming off the dock, sharing fun times with friends, hiking the near-by trails, exploring by foot, boat and bike. And given that it's an easy hour and 20 minute drive from Victoria, it's a great escape if you have a week, or even just a night.

Great river frontage and close to town.

  • 5 of 5

Nice cozy house in a quiet area only a few blocks from town. Just steps to the dock on a calm section of the river; looks like it would be great swimming in the summer. The kitchen is well supplied with dishes, pots, pans and cutlery and there's a nice big table to gather around. Also enjoyed the wide ranging selection of records. Had a great weekend!

Very quaint and great location!

  • 5 of 5

We all enjoyed our stay very much. There's a great selection of records - it inspired us to buy our own record player when we got home! The house is equipped with everything you could need and the kitchen has an array of gadgets and appliances. The house is in a great location - walking distance to everything - and right on the river! Just beautiful! My only critique if I had to choose one - was it took some time getting used to the floorboards, since the house is old, you dip and sway walking on the floor - but after spending a night on the floating dock you just assume you're still on it! Thank you for having us :)

Our Stay in Cowachin.

  • 5 of 5

We thouroughly enjoyed our stay in beautiful Lake Cowachin.

The house was clean and inviting, ready for our arrival. The home owners left contact information in which to easily reach them should we need to for any reason. The house was large enough to accommodate our large group and was comfortable, with great space both indoors and out.

The chairs supplied on the private dock on the river were a big hit with everyone. Quiet and relaxing.

The kitchen was well stocked with quality dishes, pots etc, and a nice variety of seasonings. Having a dishwasher and washer and dryer at our disposal was wonderful. Fans were provided in each bedroom which was great as it was hot during our stay. Most rooms had screens but would have been nice in all bedrooms. A railing or hand rail on the stairs would be a good idea.

We would like to thank the homeowners for sharing this great space with us. Would definitely stay there again.

Good dock

  • 5 of 5

The place was better then described and was a great spot to rest your head. Loads of space for our group and swimming in the river was a bonus. Good record collection and felt very nolstagic flipping through the albums and finding a gem.

All said, was good value and location for the price and will go back in the future!
