A peaceful oasis

  • 5 of 5

If you want to get away from the crowds and still enjoy good snorkelling, this is the place. We were a few steps away from the dock which allows you to swim out to a beautiful, healthy reef. It's a bit of a swim, especially if the wind is blowing but it's readily swimmable. . Melvin helped us out with everything we needed. It's an easy walk to the road where we sometimes took colectivos to West End or to Coxen Hole. It's still far enough from that road that it's very quiet.

rustic charm that wasn't a good value for your money.

  • 2 of 5

This place has a great location. It has the potential to be a great place but it is extremely poorly maintained. Doesn't feel like anyone cares to keep up the units. Lounge chairs are in sad sad shape. Numerous missing straps that support you are missing or are unevenly put on so it made them uncomfortable to sit on. The screened in porch had 2 foot gaping holes in it with other multiple hole as well ...so what was a benefit of a screen for the Mosquitos was taken away with the holes. The Internet was haphazard mostly not working in the first part of our week then it got fixed but was still very slow the rest of the time. The shower in the 2nd bathroom quit in the last 3 days. Faucets were painted over and then peeling. Looked gross. This was supposed to be for 4-6 people however the seating in the cottage only was for 3 people. Loveseat and a chair we we sat in some floating water chairs we brought with us the rest of the time. The kitchen was poorly set up. 4 plates etc. Only 4 of everything so we constantly had to wash our dishes and cutlery. Knives were so dull and when we asked if we could get something to sharpen with we had to use a wood file that only slightly helped. The Dock had numerous nails that wer projecting above the wood planks by 1/4 of an inch which was a hazard when mentioned it couldn't be found. The beach as advertised as a beautiful beach is not swimable due to the turtle grass all the way from the shore so you had to swim off the dock. The snorkelling that was a short swim off the dock was wonderful. This was the great feature of the place. Other owners that were there were lovely people and friendly. They made us feel welcome. These units have multiple owners so there has to be a consensus on what they will fix I gues. But I feel if you a charging what they do you have a responsibility to disclose issues or fix them.We made the best of it here as it was our holiday however we don't feel we got what we paid for.

Home Away From Home!

  • 5 of 5

In using VRBO to select a "home away from home" for our first trip to Roatan we were seeking a safe, quiet, comfortable ocean front accommodation in the Sandy Bay area and Sea Dancer (Eagle Ray Harbor) met all of those needs and more! The two-tiered deck at the end of the long dock was a perfect haven to catch both spectacular sunsets and inspiring carribean sunrises. Don, Isis and the rest of the staff were awesome and were always more than willing to accommodate any request we might have had or to provide guidance and tips on things we might want to do or see in Roatan....we really adopted Isis and would look so forward to her regular evening visits with us (love you and miss you Isis)! The Roatan people were so friendly and we enjoyed the daily taxi or collectevo trips to West End or other farther away spots on the island. Roatan is blessed with beautiful beaches (West Bay was a favorite) and amazing snorkelling opportunity. Fresh sea food (lobster, jumbo shrimp, fish) was plentiful and delicious and at day's end we enjoyed freshly made guaccamole and shrimp appetisers from our deck as we sipped on a cool cervesa or a glass of wine while listening to the waves lap the sand in front of Sea Dancer! Thank you Don and Isis for being amazing hosts and we can't wait to return with our children!

GREAT VACATION GETAWAY!

  • 4 of 5

Our stay at SeaDancer was excellent. In our search for a place that was somewhat secluded, SeaDancer was what we were looking for. Not too far away from busier areas of West Bay. We rented a car for our stay which gave us the ability to really venture the island. Upon our arrival to the airport , Melvin who works with the management was very welcoming, picked us up and drove us to the villa, and was an excellent help to our stay for the entire duration. At certain times when we had questions or needed assistance Melvin or Don were there to help. The people in the other units that we met were great, and from different places throughout Canada and the U.S.

The beach at Sundancer was excellent, and the dock leading out into the ocean was great to have. We were able to see many creatures from both the beach and the walk to the end of the dock.

Next door is hobbies hideaway, and there also many dive shops in the west bay area, with some very close by to our stay.

Cant wait to come back!

Joe Sarah, and Aurora.

Why Dan Bates chose Sandy Bay

I love the quiet, laid back and comfortable atmosphere. The Reef - the second largest barrier reef in the world! It is pristine. The reef off the SeaDancer beach is part of the Roatan Marine Park and Preserve.

A place to relax and enjoy the tropical experience with beautiful singing birds, flowering plants, warm climate and tasty fresh seafood. Visiting the local market in Coxen Hole, West End, West Bay to try the many restaurants and local craft shopping experiences.

What makes this villa unique

A large, secluded beachfront Villa! Villas include large, fully equipped eat-in kitchen, Living Room, 2 Bedrooms and 2 Baths. Each Villa has a ocean view balcony. Seadancer offers a 350 ft dock with double deck. Sit on top and enjoy the view. Below hang your hammock and read a book. Swim out to the shallow reef. You can snake your way to the walls that plunge into the ocean depths. Filled with sea life, the reef is a place to spend hours with friends and family.

Behind that is Eldon’s Super Market with easy access. Shortly after the gas station, you will pass the main entrance to Coxen Hole on your left. Do not turn there but keep going on the main road. Immediately, it will swing right and carry you to the north side of the island. When you reach the north side, the road will swing left. At that point, you will see Ferreteria Cofesa (Cofesa Hardware Store). After Cofesa (you are close to SD), a stone wall with green caps borders the right side of the road. Shortly after that, you will see an aging white fence, also on the right. Shortly, you will see the entrance to Seadancer (no SD sign but several others) on your right. After turning right, you will see a cemetery on your right. Go to the end of that road and turn left. SD is a short block down that road. You will find a turn in and parking area on your right.
