About the property

Sandy Bottom, Crystal Clear Lakefront Property Sleeping 16

Welcome to our fantastic lake get-away. Nestled in the quaint community of Kingsley Lake, this is your home-away-from-home. The main house is three bedrooms and two baths with sofa beds and a sunroom with daybeds. Covered walkways will guide you to the cottage that sleeps 3 with a full bath. Everything has been fully renovated in 2013 and is completely modernized but still has the lake-life feel to engulf and totally relax you. In the house, just some of the things you will enjoy are Sleep Number Beds, 5 HD Direct TVs, WiFi, a deep-seated copper tub and true hardwood floors throughout. Enjoy fishing and boating year round, or just simply lounge in the hammock or porch gazing at the lake. Relax at several different sitting spots in the gardens surrounding the house to watch the Bald Eagles that are perching year round. If you are the fisherman, remember that over 14 lb largemouth bass have been caught in Kingsley Lake the last two years in a row. Bottom-line, must see the attached pictures to fully understand the beauty of this property.

About Dawn Strickland

My husband and I have been married over 20 years and met on Kingsley Lake. We have two teenage children and own several businesses and absolutely love gathering friends and family at the lake for making cherished memories. We have put our heart and soul in making this property unique and have a family warmth while enjoying all modern conveniences. We hope you enjoy this property as much as we do and continue making it a family get-away for years to come.

Dawn Strickland purchased this house in 2010

Why Dawn Strickland chose Starke

We decided on this property as soon as we walked through the door. Both of us learned how to swim at Kingsley Lake, and grew up knowing and understanding the beauty that this lake offered. Both sides of our family have deep seated roots in Bradford County and continue to reside on the lake and will always call Kingsley Lake their home.

What makes this house unique

Originally built in 1903, and subsequently added on, it had a warmth that could be felt instantly. As soon as you turn down the driveway and experience the canopy of trees, you will experience a tranquility that cannot be felt many places. You will feel like you are secluded from the hectic daily world and you will melt into your surroundings. Watching your loved ones gather around the fireplace, on the porches, on the docks and in the kitchen will make you fall in love with our home even more. Every year we host Thanksgiving and this year we had 84 people that we served - what a wonderful memory! We are confident that you will enjoy the comforts that only our home can give you.

Beauty and peace.

  • 5 of 5

This home is beautiful. Morning sunrises visible through a wall of glass looking across green lawns and twin docks. The kitchen dining room was the center of our stay with children and grand children. Large open deck off the main house became a "stage", that the little ones performed their talents. Great memories to be had for all!

Great Place!!! Not your typical rental... Tons of charm and personality!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great long weekend trip for a 50th birthday (We won't say whose). Can't say enough about the property, the house or the owners. All were great.

Dawn and Mark were easy to deal with throughout the entire process. Communication was great from booking through checkout.

As for the house, it is perfect for groups without everyone feeling like they are on top of each other. Lots of separate "living spaces" both inside and out. Several docks, decks, and screened porch areas outside. The layout inside is perfect as well. Plenty of room for everyone.

Our group actually rented 2 other homes on the lake at the same time. It was unanimous that this home was the favorite. Thanks again for the great memories!!!

We will definitely be back.

Perfect Ending to Our Summer

  • 5 of 5

I can't begin to describe how beautiful the house and the view was. Every corner of the house, inside and out, was well decorated.

In the past we always rented beach front homes, this was our first lake home, and we will be visiting again!

Our family traveled with 5 boys and they all enjoyed their stay. The owners were friendly and easy to communicate with and the house had everything we needed. It was very well stocked. Most of the times homes say they sleep 15+ But then the kitchen will only sit 6-10 but not this house. They had 2 beautiful tables inside and out that we could all sit, eat, laugh and reminisce about our day.

The Strickland's Lakefront home exceeded all our vacation expectations and we are grateful for the priceless memories we have made.

Beautiful, spatious, family friendly lake house and grounds

  • 5 of 5

The home and outside living spaces are perfect for family and friend gatherings. Everyone in our family looks forward to

"lake week" whether for a few hours and a meal or a few nights. The Strickland home is comfortable, practical, unique and beautiful all at once. A real treat!

Having experienced Strickland's Landing in the late 50's, my wife and I wanted to introduce our three daughters' families to Kingsley Lake. Six grandkids (6-16yrs) thoroughly enjoyed tubing, knee-boarding, paddle-boarding, and spending hours in the clear sand-bottom lake. The house and all surroundings are so unique, several times each day you would spot a new decorative item in the house or landscape that you had not seen before. This has to be the best (of few) rentals available on the lake and by far the best equipped of anywhere we have been. Thanks to Dawn & Mark, The Pickels

Kingsley Lake is a small quaint community with under an hour access to the City of Jacksonville and its attractions and nightlife, the beautiful historic St. Augustine and it's gorgeous beaches, and the college town of Gainesville home of the University of Florida Gators. The rural town of Starke is 10 miles away, which has all of the fast food options, plus shopping and hometown dining options. Enjoy a margarita at the local mexican restaurant or a game on the big screen at the local grill.

Kingsley Lake is a private-owned lake with no public access. It has stayed pristine and crystal clear and has the honor of being an Outstanding Florida Waterway. It is an almost circular lake of about 2,000 acres, frequently called the Silver Dollar lake. Some sources label it as the oldest and highest lake in Florida. Kingsley Lake is famous for its clear waters, sandy bottom, water skiing and fishing. It is a unique lake in that it is totally free of water hyacinths, hydrilla and other obnoxious growth. Members of the military can access Camp Blanding, which occupies 1/2 of the land surrounding the lake. Anyone can enjoy the historic Camp Blanding Museum and Memorial Park established in 1939, which is only two miles away.

There is also a small park for children to play and tennis courts only a mile away from the property.
