Overview

About the property

Ultimate Couples Getaway with Mountain View!

You don't have to be born in a barn, to vacation in one!! Give yourself a break: Trade in the city for millions of stars in the night sky! The weather is great and the fish are biting! Located on a secluded dead end road in the midst of scenic Brush Creek State Forest! Enjoy nature in luxury. You enter your private property over a custom made, curved-rail bridge, onto the large covered front porch that overlooks Tener mountain, and your spring-fed pond stocked with bass, catfish, and bluegill. Grill your dinner there or snuggle up by the fire under the stars by the outdoor fire pit...Free firewood provided! Master bedroom is 420 sq.ft. with Amish king bed, and a 55" T.V. Bathroom boasts a Rainfall custom tiled shower, old-fashioned freestanding soaking tub, and washer/dryer. Living room features cedar shake designed interior, cat-napper reclining love seat and custom stone gas fireplace with 43" flat screen T.V. Satellite TV, Free WiFi, and Free long-distance phone service are provided. The kitchen features ample cabinet space, top of the line gas stove, microwave, fridge, and breakfast counter. All linens provided, along with dishes, utensils, pots, pans, spices, coffee etc. Everything is here--just bring yourselves! Or bring your friends and their pop-up camper...park and set-up on gravel pad and hook into our electric for just $15 extra per day!

Adams County is a natural "Gem." Re-connect with nature as Golden eagles can be seen soaring above, Kingfishers dive for a meal, & late summer brings the monarch butterflies that visit the purple iron weed (what a photo!). Wild red columbine, and wild Iris,Trillium, can be found, along with morels, and wild ginger, mayflowers, and paw-paws. A short walk leads you into the forest, and hike down the flat road, whitetail and wild turkeys come into view. Welcome to the great outdoors!

The many nature preserves are the trademark of Adams County and are close, and must be seen. Davis memorial forest (4 miles away!) , Chapparal Prairie, The Edge of Appalachia Preserve, Johnson Ridge nature preserve, Robert Whipple nature preserve, and the Shoemaker nature preserve (just 2 miles away!), are just a few...all keeping Adams County WILD! Slow down and watch for buggies as you head to Amish country and visit the Amish community of Wheat Ridge. Visit their shops, and well-kept farms. And don't forget the homemade turnovers and donuts! You can follow the quilt barn trail, Morgan's raiders trail, or check out covered bridges as you see Adams county from the back roads...the way it should be seen. Head south and see mother natures' Shawnee forest--the "Smokies of Ohio." Fish, rent a boat or...bring your canoe or kayak and explore the scenic Brush Creek! Or if you want wild, fill up the tank and take a slow drive through the secluded wilderness area, maybe see a bobcat, or black bear, or eagle. Then head to the Scioto Ribber, for great steak and yes...ribs.

Head south west for history, and the home of the underground railroad. Reverend Rankin & freed slave John Parker were instrumental in hiding slaves on their journey to Canada. Both homes are national historic landmarks. The proud people of Ripley fought off Morgan's raiders and stopped them from entering Ripley! Eliza from the book Uncle Tom's Cabin was real, and found refuge here. Need more history? Try Serpent Mound and Fort Hill, both ancient Indian earthworks, located near Amish Country. Serpent Mound built at the site of an ancient meteor recently has had crop circles, and strange siting in the sky, and has been reported to be the site of the Garden of Eden (as seen on America Unearthed) and has been estimated to be built 5000 B.C. ! (The time of Stonehenge). Thousands flock here in the summer and fall to witness the alignments. And Fort Hill is still a mystery today. We've got it all! See everything or just relax and do nothing in your forest retreat! You decide. Try Adams County's Finest--The Red Barn--and we promise you will return! Bring your canoe or kayak and explore the scenic Brush Creek!

Inexpensive, but there is nothing cheap about the Red Barn--everything is Amish custom-built! Ask for our discounted price: stay 2 weekdays and get the 3rd half-price!
