About Terri Giamartino

I am a small business owner living in Berkeley for the last 35 years. I am an avid martial artist and have owned a martial arts studio since 1993. I love the outdoors, gardening, cooking and art.

I love to travel, and entertain and can show you the all the nooks and crannies you might not find on your own. Staying at our home will not disappoint! We are a household of 4. Our boys are college age one still living at home and working. We are busy professionals and aren't always around, but one of us works frequently in the garden, so we are around using the yard. There is plenty of space for privacy and also opportunities to socialize some if it is preferred.

Terri Giamartino purchased this cottage in 1985

Feel perfectly at home in this restful, roomy one bedroom apt. Tasteful, uncluttered decor. Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Our hosts provided everything that was needed, including a peaceful, immaculate apartment surrounded by lovely trees and lawn. We could easily walk, to "downtown" Berkeley and BART stations. Very important, Trader Joe's was close by. The large walk-in closet in the bedroom allowed us to keep ourselves neat and organized. This was a perfect home away from home for us, allowing us to relax and enjoy our visit with west coast family. We thank the hosts for providing for such a charming and restful environment. They put a lot of thought into making the apartment welcoming and comfortable.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the lovely review Joanne. We do try to think of all the things we like to have handy when we travel. Since I like to cook, having a fully stocked kitchen is important to me. I am glad you enjoyed your stay. Please think of us next time you return. Terri & Pam

A Delight

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I came for a visit to see our son and daughter-in-law. The neighborhood is charming. Terri was wonderful and I had no doubt it would be a smooth arrival and stay. The house is big (as compared to some places we've stayed) and the fact that there is a separate bedroom is a big plus. We hope to stay here again. I highly recommend it. Close to everything in Berkeley that you'd want to see.

Clean, private, excellent location within walking distance of BART, UC-Berkeley, restaurants, shops

  • 5 of 5

This property is very clean and quiet and has all of the conveniences of being at home "away from home". Having access to a washer/dryer was great. Easy to walk to BART, quite near Shattuck Avenue which has restaurants, shops, grocery stores, anything you need while on vacation. Walking distance to UC-Berkeley which was a plus for us as we were visiting our son.

There is no parking available if you have a rental car, but we were able to secure on-street parking for the couple of days we had a car rented. You just have to be aware of the on-street parking restrictions and read the signs.

There is a unit above the unit we stayed in and at times the occupants above were a little noisy but overall I would highly recommend this property. Owners very personable!

Conveniently located and comfortable

  • 4 of 5

I've stayed in other VRBOs in the Bay Area, and this was the best so far. Having a driveway for my son and daughter to park in was a huge plus. The fact that it was on level ground, not up or down a steep hill or up many stairs, made it easier to access. The family above me never bothered me. The bed, the sheets, the pillows all felt luxurious and made sleeping very easy. I was grateful for the central heating that I could control although the bathroom was not heated. (I've lived in HI for many years so am prone to feel the cold probably more than most.) My son and I met Terri briefly. She was very friendly. Because I was there to spend Christmas with my son and daughter, I didn't walk around the neighborhood, but I hope to return when it's warmer and I can get to know the area better. Two suggestions: the top and second drawers of the dresser in the walk-in closet are in need of repair. I was concerned, especially when I tried to open the second drawer, that I wouldn't be able to close it. I imagine that would be an easy fix. Also, a few more water glasses and perhaps some wine glasses would be a great addition to the kitchen, which is otherwise well equipped. (We ate out or at my son and daughter's so didn't cook in the kitchen, but we could have had we wanted to.) On the whole, a great place to stay, especially if you have someone at UCB, an easy cab ride to Oakland Airport, a lemon tree in the small garden, very pretty. I look forward to returning in May when I can enjoy the garden more. Mahalo for providing this comfortable space!
