Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 - 4 nights

About the property

4 Bedroom, 2 Bath Cabin That's Great For Large Groups

The Waystone Cabin is located in the heart of Island Park (in the Mack's Inn area) and is just 20 miles from West Yellowstone and Yellowstone National Park.

*Great for snowmobiles and winter getaways!

This cozy cabin is great for large parties and small gatherings alike. As you walk in the front door, you'll see a large kitchen fully equipped with everything you need to stay and be comfortable (including utensils, pots and pans, dishes, and a Keurig). In the middle of the kitchen is a large island that seats six, making it a perfect place to cook, eat, and talk.

Next is the living room. It features a huge sectional and a 65" HDTV with more than 100 channels from DishNetwork. There's also an additional seating area with a bookshelf full of books, games, and movies for your enjoyment.

The cabin also includes high-speed internet—with unlimited data! You can stream, surf, and watch to your heart's content.

Also on the main floor is a full bathroom (shower and bath -- shampoo and conditioner are always available) and a laundry/mud room with a washer and dryer. You can take off your boots and snow clothes here after a long day on the trails or wash your swimsuits after taking a dip or floating down the nearby Henry's Fork River (just a block away)!

As you walk up the stairs, you'll come to a second living area with a queen sofa bed and a second HDTV, complete with DishNetwork and a DVD player. This a great place for kids to take some quiet time while the adults lounge downstairs.

Upstairs there are four bedrooms: three queen beds and one king bed. There's also a pack 'n play portable crib for any babies in the group and sleeping mats for younger kids to sleep on the floor.

There are both front and back decks and balconies off each room—perfect places to drink your morning coffee and watch for wildlife (we often see deer, moose, and birds, with occasional bear and fox sightings).

The cabin is on a full acre of land, keeping you secluded from the neighbors. But it's still within a two minute drive of a gas station/C-store. And Big Springs (a definite must if you're in the area) is just four miles away.

About Meghan Potts

The Waystone Cabin is owned by the Mitton family (there are 17 of us and counting!). We named the cabin after a place in our favorite book. (It's called The Name of the Wind and it's awesome. It's on the bookshelf if you have time to read while you're staying with us.)

After years of visiting and renting in Island Park ourselves, we finally decided to buy a permanent home. Because we've been renting for so long, we know what makes for a great stay and we've worked hard to make sure you have everything you need. And because we spend so much time here too, we take care of it so it's always clean and comfortable.

Meghan Potts purchased this cabin in 2015

We do have a few, small requests to help us ensure the cabin stays clean and affordable. First, before you leave, please wash and dry your towels. This helps us get the cabin ready for the next group. Second, Island Park does not offer curbside garbage pickup. This means all garbage needs to be taken to the local dump. It's very close to the cabin (just a mile or two away) and instructions about how to do this and dump hours are located in the binder in the cabin. This is actually a pretty standard request for Island Park and it helps us reduce the hours our housekeeping service has to spend at the cabin. We can then pass those savings on to you in the form of lower nightly rates.

Wonderful 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom magical cabin set in the woods.

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was absolutely fabulous! We came over Christmas and just might have to make it a tradition. It was magical! We had 10 people and more could have come. The cabin has 4 large bedrooms, 1 king bed and 3 queen beds. In addition it has a full size pull out couch. 2 great bathrooms and a big laundry room too. My husband loved the huge tv with WiFi hookups. We watched movies, snuggled, played games, played in the snow and decorated the cute little trees in each room with homemade ornaments. Bring lots of snow clothes if you plan on playing outside, but as for inside we were never cold. Cabin heats up wonderfully and there were lots of space heaters. It has a huge kitchen with all the pots and pans you will need. You can bake all day! All you need to do is bring your food. Oh my if you need to get away this is the place to come. We would defiantly choose Waystone again! Fabulous!

Fun and cute Cabin

  • 4 of 5

Our only complaint was we had a hard time finding the landfill to take the garbage out which set us back 1 hr leaving. Not sure if the address in the binder was incorrect or if we just missed it. Other than that we loved it and had a great time.

Spacious and well equipped

  • 4 of 5

We usually do condos but there are definitely benefits to renting a house. We never did find the blow dryer advertised in the listing but we found everything else we needed and more. Good times!

Car: necessary

Located in the heart of Island Park in the Mack's Inn Area, the Waystone Cabin is conveniently located to a variety of exciting outdoor activities. Boat, swim, tube, hike, and four-wheel in the summer; snowshoe, cross-country ski, snowmobile and ski Targhee Resort in the winter.

Just 20 miles from West Yellowstone and Yellowstone National Park, Island Park is away from the busyness and touristy feeling of that area, but still close enough to enjoy everything Yellowstone has to offer—at a fraction of the price.
