Zimple House is conveniently located in the heart of the Riverbend, University neighborhood....close to Audubon Park and Audubon Zoo.....2 blocks from the Street Car for easy access throughout New Orleans....walking distance to both Maple street and Oak street.....where you will find fabulous shopping and top dining.....A folder of menus from our personal restaurant favorites will be provided in the Satsuma Studio. The Satsuma Room is a newly, renovated space within Zimple House. Hip, eclectic furnishings...The bedroom/Living area sleeps 4. One Queen sized bed and bunk beds. One flat screen tv and wifi.....decorated with local artist works.....Fully furnished kitchen, if you like to cook....we even supply local coffee!

About Louis Bischoff

Louis and Molly have been married since 2007. Louis was brave enough to move from Mobile AL into Molly's world in New Orleans. In addition to being "Renovators" for this beautiful historic home, we are raising our amazing daughter, along with 1 dog, 4 cats.

Why Louis Bischoff chose Carrollton

I knew it when I first saw the house. It needed me attention, and I wanted to give it. You can get away from the city and still be in the city. Depending on the wind, the sounds of the street car, river boats and trains remind me that my house is located near the river. Carrollton was laid out by Charles Zimple in 1833, and annexed by New Orleans in 1874.

What makes this studio unique

I can hide from Mardi-Gras up here, or venture out and join the fun within 15 minute street car ride.

Quainte & cute

I enjoyed all the restaurants that were nearby. The convenience of the street car being a few blocks away was more than convenient. This was a first time visit for my mom and two sisters so the tasuma room was an enjoyable stay for all us, from the location down to the decorations. Even the beds were so comfortable. Thank you again.

Great Neighborhood Spot and Nice Hosts

We took our two young daughters to Mardi Gras this year and stayed at the Satsuma Room. Louis and Molly could not have been nicer and shown more hospitality.

The neighborhood is fun and close to the Satsuma Cafe, which was great.

We would definitely stay again.

A "Home Away From Home"

What a find! We come to New Orleans often to visit family and are always looking for a place to stay that is safe, convenient and comfortable. I may have found it at last. Louis and Molly could not have been more hospitable and welcoming - even as I arrived early on the day before Mardi Gras! The Satsuma Room is situated around the back of the house - and the motion detector lights guided our way each night as we ventured home after dark. The room is spotlessly clean and comfortable and large enough to accommodate a couple and two children. The neighborhood is away from the crowds - as we like it - yet walking distance to the streetcar or the shops along Maple and Oak Streets. Parking was super easy each night - even during Mardi Gras. Thanks!! We will return for sure.

Lovely and cozy place

We had a great time. My husband and I, and our two grown children stayed here, and while it was close , it was just right. We would definitely stay again. The WIFI was down but that simply gave us more attention to spend on each other.

Fun space, good location

My friends and I enjoyed the considerable hospitality of New Orleans, especially our lodging. The space is comfy and unassuming, suitable for 3 friends to sleep, make coffee and breakfast, and then access both a wonderful neighborhood and the larger city. Plenty of small details I appreciated, good towels (who doesn't love quality linens??), plenty of kitchen gadgetry, very clean, nice little patio, and we felt very safe. Thanks for a lovely week.

Good for a weekend in N.O.

This is an apartment in a multi-family flat. As far as cleanliness, it passed my Clorox wipe test, and it appeared the owners had recently done some upgrades to the bathroom and kitchen.

It doesn't get 5 stars because I wish it was just a little closer to the action (Bourbon or Frenchmen street). You could definitely run up a high uber/lyft bill depending on where your headed. Also, there was a huge dead bug right in the middle of the floor when we walked in...kind of hard to understand how the cleaning crew missed that. After seeing that, we did a thorough look through of the place, but we didn't notice any bug nest or more critters. We're assuming the dead bug was an isolated issue.....again, the place passed the Clorox white wipe test in most areas.

We liked how the owners included all the necessary kitchen utensils and commonly forgotten bath items (I.e. lotion and/or bath gels).

The owners made themselves accessible, but there was no need to contact them because everything in the house is clearly labeled.

All in all, it gets the job done. I'd recommend this place for a girls or guys weekend out (sleeps 4 comfortably and your crew could just split the uber/lyft bill). I was there just seeing the town with my buddy. It really wasn't sexy enough for a romantic weekend (husband and wife) in my opinion.
