Beautiful log home!

  • 5 of 5

Wow, "magnificent" really is the perfect way to describe this log home! I have rented several other houses in the area and this one is easily the nicest. It's the right mix of rustic and modern. I found the photos online to be very accurate, although the description could have elaborated a bit on how well stocked the actually house was! I ended up bringing a lot more with me than I needed afraid it wouldn't have this or that. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking meals and there were even cooking oils and spices plus a few condiments in the fridge (nice appliances too). The bathrooms were supplied with hotel-sized shampoo/conditioner and body wash (bring your own if you need more than 1 day supply), plus hairdryer. There was a huge stack of firewood piled up on the side porch for use in the indoor fireplace (bring your own wood for the outdoor fire pit). On the back deck there were 2 grills, charcoal and gas. I didn't use them, but the rental booklet recommended using the charcoal one first as the gas one has seen better days (I think you need to bring your own charcoal). The outdoor hot tub was amazing (definitely the best feature after the house itself)! The property is very private. There is a neighboring property very close on the hot tub side, but it appeared to just have some outbuildings, no house. We saw some people there Saturday during the day doing some yard work and burning, but otherwise we did not see or hear any other people in the immediate area. The other sides of the property were all trees (it's the last house on the road). The open lawn leads you down to a path to the river. The walk to the river is a decent one and you cannot see the river at all from the house. But once you (finally) get down there, it is very peaceful and beautiful. We went down a few times and didn't see anyone else. There are some nice views of the mountains through the trees if you walk down a little bit. I just wish the river was closer to the house so that you could view the river from the beautiful picture windows. The river sounds would also help to drown out the road and train noise common to this area. Oh and I'll also mention that sleeps "10" is a bit generous. 2 of the 10 spots are upper bunk beds, which would really only be suitable for children, so I would say 8 adults max. BTW, king bed was very comfy!

Overall, despite a couple draw backs, this is a truly amazing house and I would gladly rent again any time!

Beautifully constructed cabin

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed at Tall Timbers lodge for the Christmas holiday and had an absolutely heavenly time. The lodge itself is huge with an open floor plan on the 2nd floor, a spacious living area with a glorious fireplace and two bedrooms on the first. Each room has it's own heater, making it easy to stay warm on even the coldest of nights. On our stay, there were stacks of chopped firewood ready for us. We kept the fire blazing for most of our stay and never ran out of wood. The smell of firewood was amazing in the house (note: don't forget to open the flue before you light the fire).

The hot tub -- placed maybe 20' from the back porch -- was an equally nice amenity. It stayed reliably at 104° both nights and was a real treat at the end of a long day playing.

While the river isn't visible from the lodge, it's only on the other side of a 50' stretch of trees. There's an easy path down to the banks. I hope to stay here again the next time we visit the area.

Snowy Retreat in the Woods

  • 5 of 5

Tall Timbers Lodge is a wonderful place for a winter family get-together. Our group included grandparents, parents, and grandchildren. The kids had a great time making snowballs, building a snowman, constructing a fort—and also throwing rocks into the nearby river. In the evening, we played games (provided for our use) in the large, open, carpeted upstairs. The bedroom in this upstairs space is not closed off, so it gets noise from downstairs, although this does not have to be a problem. The kids, who went to be early, slept downstairs, leaving the upstairs quiet for Nana and Grandad. Tall Timbers Lodge is just over an hour away from Seattle, but is situated in a lovely, quiet location. Unsurprisingly, Internet access is uneven so this is a place to relax not to catch up on work. During your visit, you can count on Mysty Mountain staff to be easy to reach and very helpful.

Nice and very spacious place!

  • 5 of 5

When we first got there it was very warm and welcoming! The place accommodated us very well and there were 10 of us total! We didn't get a chance to hike out to the river or use the hot tub because of the pouring rain, which next time we will for sure do. However the distance to Stevens was very close so that was a huge plus for us snowboarders! The place was packed with loads of board games and DVDs, so there was endless amounts of entertainment.
