The Babs Building was built in 1905 and has housed many of Missoula's colorful characters over the years. More recently, the building was completely updated into luxurious condos that provide it's occupants with immediate proximity to Missoula's downtown area. Unit 7 is recently remodeled and immaculate. The original wood floors were refinished and remain but everything else was tastefully redone in a manner that compliments the building's era of construction.

Unit 7 is a well furnished 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom 630 square foot space within walking distance of everything Missoula has to offer. The unit has a fully furnished kitchen, comfortable living room with sleeper couch for extra guests, cable TV, wifi, and is one of the best locations in town. A washer and dryer are in the unit for additional convenience. Located on the Hip Strip, restaurants, coffee, and a brewery are steps away and downtown Missoula is less than a 5 minute walk. The University of Montana is only a 10 minute walk, making Unit 7 the perfect place to stay if you are visiting a student or cheering for the Grizzlies.

About Lydia Fleming

We are a retired couple who live on a small ranch under the Mission Mountains 45 minutes north of Missoula. We are both native Montanans. Lydia retired recently after many years as a high school secretary. John also retired recently after teaching for 40 years at a small school on the Flathead Reservation. John taught middle school social studies and is very knowledgable about Montana history. We've raised three boys who all have degrees from Montana universities.

We felt very lucky to have found this place. It was stocked with absolutely everything we might have needed. And the location was fantastic. If we ever revisit Missoula there is no where else we would stay.

Wonderful apartment in a prime spot for walking in Missoula.

This was our base camp for four days of exploring in and around Missoula (early June 2018). The building has been so beautifully updated, and the hosts have the place stocked for ease and comfort. Lydia was great about staying in touch about details and we couldn't have been happier overall with our experience. Parking is a bit limited but we managed to find a spot each time we came and went. VERY nearby businesses include an Italian restaurant, breakfast spot, a pizza place, coffee shop, a taco place with great breakfast burritos (perfect pre-hiking fare) and a taproom for a post hike beer--not to mention a gas station. And all downtown Missoula has to offer is just a short and scenic walk over the bridge. We were happy campers. Thanks, Lydia!

Great Value and Location.

Unit 7 is a great unit in the historic Babs Building. The location is fantastic. Close to the University, river and walking distance to many restaurants and cafes. Big Dipper Ice cream is just a block away and a great place to end your day.

The unit is very nicely decorated and has everything you need for your stay. Nice touches like a bag of coffee and kitchen basics are appreciated. It was also nice to have a portable A/C unit since it did get warm. The owner made sure it was running before we arrived, which was a nice touch.

It was smooth and simple dealing with the owner and everthing from confirmation to accessing the unit was easy.

We had a great time a would definitely book this unit again!

The apt. was beautifully designed and decorated to maintain the age and character of the building.

My experience couldn't have been better. Lydia was a joy to work with accommodating a short notice stay and then facilitating an extension to my original dates. The building is a perfect location downtown with easy access to all that downtown offers and close proximity to the university and thoroughfares if you need to get to other areas of town. The apartment was so charming. From the dishes to the bed, everything was considered to make your stay inviting and comfortable. I would absolutely stay in any of Lydia's properties again.

Wonderful stay in Missoula

We stayed 11 days in the Babs recently while visiting Missoula. It was a wonderful apartment. It has vintage charm with modern comfort. It's close, even walking distance, to everything that downtown and the university offer. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking so we able to prepare meals and only dine out occasionally. It felt like we had a real home away from home rather than a sterile, cookie cutter hotel room. We hope to stay there again and again when we are visiting. The only possible shortcoming is that reserved parking is not available, and on street parking is at a premium, especially during the day. However, balance that against the fact you can walk to so many restaurants, shops, movies, etc. and leave your car parked.

The Babs building is located in the heart of Missoula. The local name for the area is the Hip Strip. It's called the Hip Strip for a reason; great restaurants, bakeries, shops, and a brewery are literally steps from the front door of the Babs. Downtown proper is just a short walk (400 yards) across the Higgins St. bridge for access to even more attractions.

Stays over 30 days are not charged tax. The weekend rate (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday) will not apply to stay of 8 nights of more. A cleaning fee of $35 is required for cleaning of the condo before renter’s arrival and after renter’s departure. A damage/reservation deposit of $200 is required in order to book the reservation. The deposit automatically converts to a refundable security/damage deposit.

  • 50% refund if canceled at least 14 days before arrival date.
  • 100% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
