La Maison Marlo is located in the beautiful waterfront district of Lachine (15 minute drive from downtown Montreal). Built in the late 1880s, the home was completely and tastefully restored in 2010 to reflect its rustic beginnings. This is a 1500 SF loft-style home on the second level of a two story building. The living area consists of a master bedroom, a second small bedroom, a large living room, kitchen, dining area and a bathroom/laundry room. A balcony sits off the master bedroom, and there is a 10 x 16' terrasse in the back with a sitting area where you can relax or watch the activity of the outdoor market across the way.

When you enter into the home you are greeted by the beautiful 100 year old red pine which covers the 14 ft vaulted ceiling and far wall in the living room. The pine floors and moldings throughout give a cozy, cottage feeling to a city residence. A brick fireplace (gas) warms the entire area with the charm of yesteryear. The 13 foot L-shaped sofa includes a hide-a-bed for extra sleeping space if necessary.

The kitchen is a chef's dream with plenty of granite counter space, a large well-lit island with its own wine fridge and stocked spice rack, and a 5 burner Bertazzoni gas stove. The heated tile floors and appliances are surrounded by 100 year old red pine cabinets and drawers, keeping the old charm alongside modern technology and lighting. A large window looks onto the market while you prepare your meals, and a long 10 person table waits for you in the adjacent dining area when you are ready to eat.

In the immense bathroom you will find the steel claw foot tub which came with the home over 100 years ago. There is a separate walk-in shower, and heated floors (including the shower) will make for happy feet! The laundry area lies just beyond this room and provides some extra storage.

The master bedroom is very large with ample closets and a balcony where you can sit to look down the street at the water and green of the canal area. The smaller bedroom is right beside it. With the bedrooms and the fold out bed in the living room you could sleep up to 6 people if necessary.

Maison Marlo is across the street from the Lachine Market. A fruit and vegetable store and a wonderful cheese store are open year long, and in the summer the open air market offers fresh daily produce, herbs and flowers. There are three cafés/restaurants within one block, and rue Notre-Dame offers many services within walking distance including more restaurants, a hardware store, convenience stores/depanneurs, hair salons and many more. We are 10 minutes from the airport and from 15 minutes from downtown Montreal by car. There is also bus access to various parts of Montreal close by, including an express bus downtown.

We are also situated one block away from the Lachine waterfront and old canal. This area is very active and is a wonderful place to exercise, explore, eat or relax. It features the largest Marina in Quebec, boat rentals of many types, long bicycle paths which connect to the Vieux Port downtown. Along this path are mature trees as well as open green spaces with walking paths and picnic tables along the way to relax or watch the sunset on Lac St-Louis. There are numerous festivals and free activities offered in this area throughout the summer as well. The road along the lake's shore is dotted with historical sites, antique stores, restaurants, bars, majestic churches and interesting architecture.

This is a vibrant and beautiful area to explore, and the experience is completed by returning to the charm, comfort and open space provided by Maison Marlo. We love our home, and hope you will too. We are happy to share with you!

*High Season is from May 1st to Sept 30th with the Low Season being the opposite dates with the exception of Christmas and New Years week being at High Season rates.

Gas stove, gas fireplace, 2 balconies in front and a deck in the back of the home, very private, no neighbors, . we are located 10 minutes by car to the airport and to the downtown core. there is an express bus across the street that will take you into downtown in 25 minutes.(Lionel-Groulx metro station)

When we walked through the door, we were amazed at the beautiful rooms that greeted us, the house is amazing and wonderful. The living room, kitchen, dining area and bedroom. The bed was comfortable and the living room, very inviting and comfortable. It was great with so much to see and visit within walking distance.

Lovely condo! Lovely area!

Enjoyed a very pleasant stay! The market directly across the street is filled with fresh fruit, vegetables, and flowers. Location does not get any better really unless you were situated directly on the canal . I walked every day along the canal which is a two minute walk from the condo. This area was vibrant with biker, joggers, and strollers. Very scenic indeed! The apartment is quaint and has an interesting history. I felt very comfortable there and would most likely stay there again. I would not hesitate to recommend this unit to anyone wishing to stay.

The remarkably well remodeled condominium

We arrived in Lachine from the airport after dark. The area of Lachine around Christopher’s place shows signs of urban aging but upon entering the unit, we were pleased with the quality of everything in it. We live in a high quality environment and attempt to rent same when we are staying for multiple days in a location. From the photos on VRBO, we thought we would be pleased but pictures can be misleading.

We prepared both breakfast and dinner in Christopher’s kitchen and had lunches out while touring every day. Everything that we needed to make those meals a success was available with the exception of red wine and Grand Marniere, both of which we found in abundance at the nearby SAQ.

We are outdoors oriented individuals. We enjoyed walking along the Lachine Canal, just one block away, and learning a bit about the history of the area. Walking paths were a nice way to avoid the bustle of the city.

For Vieux Montreal, and Ile Sfl Helene, we drove to the Agrinion terminus of the metro, bought day passes and spent portions of two pleasant days in Vieux Montreal where great lunches can be found on one of the pedestrian streets such as Place Jacque Cartier, site of Château Ramezay, a museum we highly recommend. If one doesn’t have a car, one can catch the bus at 18th & Victoria (two blocks away) to the same Agrinion terminus of the metro.

Christopher was responsive to our questions and provided good guidance when it was needed. We can happily recommend his place for those with an appreciation of quality appointments.

Great place to stay!

This unit is spacious! The outside first impression is completely different from the inside one.

It's great to be close to the canal and having the market for fresh produce right accross the street was a plus. Came in handy, my daughter was getting married and got her bridal bouquet made up from the market, the day of the wedding!

Once you have entered the unit via the front door, I do suggest using the key for the back door for the duration of your stay. I suggested to the owner to put similar doorlock/keypad at the back door.

Christopher is easy to reach and will happily answer all your questions quickly.

Would stay there again!
