About this property

Upscale Sugar Mtn Home w/Amazing View, Hot Tub, Waterfall, Ping Pong

We invite you to our house where you'll be atop one of the most desirable sweet spots of this whole region: Sugar Mountain. From here, you'll have stunning, unobstructed views of beloved Grandfather Mountain from almost every room in the house. You'll also gaze upon Grandfather from the triple decks, the oversized hot tub, the beautifully landscaped yard, a rock patio with a fire pit, and the spring-fed pond that comes complete with an on-demand waterfall.

But Sweet Sugar Lookout isn't just drop-dead gorgeous; it offers so much more.

With 3 en suite bedrooms (2K, 1Q), an en suite sleeping loft with 4 twin beds, and 1.5 additional baths, there's room for everyone. And there's a pack 'n play, a booster chair, and other things for your little one.

The front door and lower level doors have electronic key codes, so everyone in your group will be able to get in without having to worry about keys.

The benches on the front porch are perfect for taking off messy wet boots and shoes when it's snowing. And lots of porch railing for propping up the skis.

The house is unbelievably close to all the things that make the Sugar Mountain area so attractive as a resort. You will not be disappointed.

If romance is the idea....snuggle by the stone fireplace. Share a bottle of wine on the decks. Luxuriate in the hot tub. And of course, there are always those glorious views of Grandfather Mountain from most of the bedrooms ...

If you've got outdoor activity and sports on the brain, then get ready, get set, GO! The ski, tubing, and snowboard slopes are close by. The FREE ski shuttle will pick you up at the front door. During the off-season, there are numerous hiking trails, whitewater rafting, tubing, fly fishing, tennis, golf, even horse-riding stables-and they're all close by. And if you're here in autumn, just strolling around in the crisp, crystalline air and the brilliant colors of Mother Nature's leafy artwork can't be beat.

Interested in local color and culture (including shopping and dining)? There are community theaters, winery tours, craft breweries, festivals, galleries, boutiques, pet parades, and so much more. There are lots of eateries nearby to suit every taste preference and price point. So if you're one of those go-go-go people, don't fret about being bored here. Honestly, that particular thought won't have enough time to even cross your mind!

If you just want to relax, come take a lesson from Grandfather Mountain himself. After all, the mountain has long been described as looking like the profile of an old man laying down and looking up at the stars. So why not honor that tradition? Sit and meditate by the pond, with a soothing waterfall that flows at your command. Read a book from our well-stocked bookshelves. Beat your kids at ping pong. Play a board game from our collection. Stretch out on a comfy recliner in front of the big TV with full channel availability. Or, since we have free Wi-Fi, go ahead and bring whatever device you like to surf the net on. All we're saying is, that if you want to be the World Champion Sofa Spud, you've got our full support. We won't judge!

If you need to get away from it all, but you still need be in touch ... we get it. Sometimes, the Real World has to come along on your vacation. That's why our wi-fi is free. And if you absolutely, positively need to get some work done while you're here, there's a nice desk in the loft. But just to take a little of the sting out of having to buckle down (even though you're on vacation) the desk comes fully equipped with a great view of Grandfather Mountain.

Looking for a place where you can escape uncomfortable extremes of seasonal temperature? If you hate the hot, sticky swelter of summertime, here's something that might bliss you out just thinking about it: the average temperature during the summer on Sugar Mountain is in the low 70sF. And if you like winter, you'll be happy to know that it's usually just right for comfortable skiing in the high 20sF to low 30sF on Sugar Mountain. In other words, it's also happens to be perfect hot chocolate weather.

What will you have to remember to pack? Not much. Other than what you're going to wear, groceries (and maybe your sports gear), Sweet Sugar Lookout has it covered. We don't want to have to pack up our whole household when we take a trip, so we figure you don't either. That's why we've stocked our kitchen with a supply of coffee, tea, basic spices and condiments, and an array of cookware, bakeware, and tableware. We also provide paper goods - paper towels, plates, cups, etc. for those days you want to avoid the dishwasher. We provide linens, towels, hair dryers, lighted mirrors, and toilet tissue.

If there's a group of you, there won't be a problem deciding who gets the "good room." That's because we have three master suites with large comfortable beds and great bathrooms. All but one are furnished with great views of Grandfather Mountain. And the one that doesn't have the mountain view makes up for that by being on the same floor as the main living area (no stairs to climb).

If you're looking for a place with accommodations suitable for a large family, there are enough beds for 10 people. Plus we have a Pack & Play, a booster seat, and baby gates. And there is a first floor master for those who want to avoid stairs. The house also comes complete with a laundry room stocked with detergent and fabric softener sheets.

There will never be a waiting line for a bathroom. That's because there are a total of 5.5 bathrooms throughout the house. And they come complete with lighted mirrors, hair dryers, and fluffy towels.

What else could we possibly offer you?

Well, you can expect to walk into a sparkling and tidy house when you get here. We want you to smile big and say "WOW!" when you arrive. We want you to love-love-love every minute of your time here. We want you to start missing tje house the minute you leave and close the door behind you. And we want to know that you will want to return again simply because it feels like 'your' place. In other words, we want you to feel like we do about this home!

We would love to talk with you. We pride ourselves on our quick response and communication with our guests. If you have a question, problem, or request, we stand ready to help.

So…what are you waiting for? Please check availability and book today. We can’t wait to share our “little slice of paradise” with you!

Great Cabin
Our family loved this cabin! You will not be able to find a cabin with a better view! It is drop dead GORGEOUS!! The back yard is just the best, although we didn’t get to use it because of the weather while we were there. There is a really cool fire pit next to a pond with a waterfall. A large hot tub sits under a covered back deck overlooking the huge backyard, and it feels very private and secluded there, even though the cabin is in a neighborhood. We loved the way the cabin was decorated, and the bedrooms were very nice and comfy, especially the two king rooms on the middle floor. Communication with the host was excellent as well. VERY near the ski slope. A couple of things you should know beforehand, that you won’t find out until you are sent the paperwork right before your stay though: (1) there is no air conditioning. This was not a big deal at all for us because we stayed in February, and might not be a big deal at all in the summer because of how high up the cabin is. There are lots of ceiling fans and shades that can come down on the big windows in the main living area, but just thought someone might want to know this ahead of time if booking in the summer. (2) the trash ordinances and pick up times in this area, due to bears I guess, make it necessary to bring your trash down the road, instead of just putting it in a trash can on the property. That could be inconvenient if you have a big group and are staying more than just a couple of days.

What an amazing home!
We have been visiting the mountains every year for about 25 years and this has been one of the best visits yet! This home has everything a guest would need plus a whole lot more! The kitchen was well stocked as was the other rooms in the house - linens, paper products, etc. The views are absolutely spectacular with a very clear view of Grandfather Mountain. The pond, patio, and firepit are so beautiful and well thought out and landscaped. The drive up was super easy as the roads are paved and very mild, especially in comparison to other roads in the area. Entry into the home has a ramp and there is a bedroom on the main level with the floors being a hard surface. This would be a great cabin for a guest with mobility challenges. We can't wait to come back! We love this cabin!

About the host

Host profile image
We are from Texas but live in Winston-Salem NC now. Both of us are avid Texas Longhorn and Wake Forest Demon Deacon fans. Chuck just retired as Professor at Wake Forest University and Kathy owned a marketing research company until her retirement. We have such a good time at Sweet Sugar Lookout with our children and grandchildren and we'd like you to have an opportunity to enjoy it and makes some memories too!

Why they chose this property

We wanted a place that was high enough to escape the summer heat in a location that offered awesome views, close to a variety of outdoor sports. We looked at lots of other places, but nothing felt right until we walked through the door and fell in love. We never dreamed we would get everything we were looking for and more!

What makes this property unique

The views. The decor. The luxury. The altitude. The attitude. The convenience to the ski slopes and other outdoor sports. We think it's perfect!
