We’re an ideal place for individuals, friends and families, and small groups to unplug and refresh, restore and reconnect. We have dedicated 8 acres exclusively to our guests at the country retreat--enjoy hiking in the surrounding woods, fishing in the pond behind the house, or relax on the front porch with the latest best seller and watch the deer walk by!
Red Oaks Country Retreat is a centrally located home base for bird watching at Goose Pond, exploring the Sculpture Trails or Tulip Trestle, fishing and hunting in Greene Sullivan State Forest and Shakamak State Park, or to go antiquing in nearby towns. If you’re working at nearby NSWC Crane, we’re your home away from home, just 25 minutes away with all the amenities you’ll need to work locally in total comfort.
Our family home for many years, we've now opened our home as a country retreat for others to enjoy. The house has 2 private bedrooms, 2 full baths and will comfortably sleep up to 8 guests. The kitchen has new appliances and is fully stocked with pots and pans, cooking utensils and lots of space to break bread together! The living room has 2 large queen sleeper sofas and additional seating, a fireplace and wide screen TV. Both bedrooms have 2 queen size beds. The house has internet with wife, a large screen TV with cable and a DVD player. The hall closet is full of board games and the book shelves are loaded with books, all for your enjoyment.
We also offer our guests the Boar’s Nest, an ideal setting for family reunions, small group retreats or off-site meetings. The Boar's Nest is a separate 900 sq. ft. building connected to the house by a covered porch. There is a small foyer, one large open room with seating for 10 people around the large conference table, white board, wifi, cable, big screen TV, large sectional sofa and dining room table ideal for breakouts, kitchenette, coffee pots, and a full bath. There are no beds in the Boar's Nest--it is set up for small group gatherings.
Guests staying overnight at Red Oaks can rent the Boar’s Nest for an additional $75/day plus $30 cleaning fee. Ask the owner for additional information about reserving this space for your special occasion or meeting!

Greene County is home to hundreds of lakes with Greene-Sullivan State Forest at the edge of Linton. Just north of Linton, west of Jasonville is Shakamak State Park. Redbird SRA is the State’s first off highway vehicle riding facility with over 600 acres of riding area, trails, rocks, mud and hills. Redbird is open to all motorized vehicles including 4×4’s dirt bikes and ATV’s. Goose Pond FWA is nearly 8,000 acres of prairie and marsh habitat which provides quality hunting, wildlife viewing and trapping. Goose Pond is a habitat for many creatures such as sandhill cranes, migrant geese, ducks, along with rarely spotted birds.
