About this property

Lovely Lakefront Cottage, Peaceful Setting, Hiking And More

This lovely lakefront cottage has been a favorite family gathering place of ours for 30 years. It sits on picturesque Lower Goose Pond in the heart of the Berkshires.

The property is situated on a dead end street of a private lake community. The house is just over 1,000sf with a deck overlooking a large yard and the lake. The lakefront yard is big enough for a family game of whiffle ball or to throw a frisbee around. The first floor has the kitchen, living room (with a couch to sleep 5), a full bathroom, and a bedroom with a full size bed. Ascend a wooden spiral staircase to access the spacious master bedroom and bath. Outdoor furniture and a gas grill off the kitchen make outdoor dining easy. The kitchen is stocked with pots and pans, as well as dishes and other essentials. We provide bed linens and bath towels, and there is a washing machine and dryer in the basement.

There is a dock on the property, and two kayaks and a canoe are available for your use. There is a public boat launch nearby if you want to bring your own powerboat, sailboat or jet ski. Clear water makes for great swimming. The main lake is connected to Upper Goose by a small estuary. Approximately 30-45 minutes by kayak or canoe, Upper Goose is environmentally protected and free from development – just the lake, surrounding mountains, and unspoiled nature.

Please note that the cottage is not winterized, so it is available in spring, summer, and fall.

The cottage is walking distance to the Appalachian Trail, and a short drive to Lee (close enough to bike to), the Outlets, Tanglewood, and all that the Berkshires has to offer. We hope you will make this your base for a summer vacation, and relax, enjoy the lake, the Berkshires, and the peaceful setting as much as we do!

Summer relax
Our stay was delightful. House is well equipped and comfortable. Kayak to Upper Pond to see the sunrise. Swim in the clear lake in the afternoon. Relax on the deck and watch the boaters and kayakers go by. Marvelous!

The best view.
A bit noisy location, but otherwise lovely lake, great to have kayaks, floats, canoe, the best view imaginable.

The Perfect Getaway
My fiancé and I frequently visit the Berkshires, but this was our first trip out there heading into the summer months, as well as our first time at this particular location. While we've always felt the Berkshire area is beautiful to begin with, when arriving at the house on Goose Pond, we knew that we were somewhere special. As soon as you pull into the driveway(plenty of parking), the view of the lake right off the back yard will put a smile on your face... perfect spot. The lake itself is pristine; very clear and was something that we enjoyed immensely. Given it was rather hot during part of our stay, we were cooling off in the lake often. Between kayaking, swimming, and just lounging on the inflatable tubes(all provided with the property), we were happy campers! The lake offered picturesque sunrises and sunsets as well. The house and the yard were in ideal condition. There are good-size front and back yards that are well-kept. There is also a gas grill that worked great for barbecue. And, since the house has a deck off the back overlooking the lake, it ended up being our preferred dinner spot(though there are plenty of restaurants nearby). The house itself was clean, with plenty of room and comfort for the three of us(our dog included). The kitchen and 2 bathrooms had all the amenities we needed and it's a short drive to the grocery store, which was convenient. The open-concept dining room and living room had plenty of space and light, with a glass sliding door out to the deck and lake side. There are 2 bedrooms, though we only needed the master bedroom, which has a sliding glass window/doorway leading out to a small landing overlooking the water. We've been to and stayed at other places in the Berkshires; our week-long stay here was definitely our favorite. Between the location of the house on Goose Pond, the peaceful surroundings, access to other spots of interest, and just the overall comfort and quality of our stay was top-notch. We're already looking forward to our return!
