Within minutes from Berlin, Sugar Creek, Millersburg, and Charm, Ohio, The Chestnut Barn is located in the heart of Amish country in the quaint and historic farming town of Winesburg, Ohio. Approximately 7 miles from the bustling tourist area (Berlin), the Chestnut Barn provides a true picture of Amish life in Holmes County. Surrounded by farms and rolling hills, long walks are a wonderful experience. Although our little town does not even boast a traffic light, you will be just steps away from the Winesburg Park which has a large playground and picnic pavilion. A few steps in the other direction is our historic general store. Not only will you find a deli serving Amish meats and cheeses, our general store also has a carry out which serves a varied menu that includes the area's most popular pizza, roasted chicken, and a full service ice cream shop. Amish restaurants and shops are just a short drive in any direction.

Please be advised that even though it is quite a spacious house, it is not suitable for small children or the elderly. It is not handicap accessible. On the main (ground) floor the downstairs bedroom is one step down from the rest of the floor (not quite evident in pictures) and the shower room is also one step bellow the main level. For people using a walker or a wheelchair, we regret to inform you that unfortunately this is not an ideal property to rent.

Located In the back yard of a c.1830 (chestnut) log house, this recently transformed barn has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a giant kitchen and a great room which can be used for gatherings, seminars, or group meetings and fun get togethers.

There are numerous sites to see and Amish country life to be experienced here in Holmes county all in the vicinity of this old barn with modern comforts and furnishings.

There are three bedrooms with three queen beds and a set of bunks and two sleeper sofas. This means we have beds for eight and sleeper sofas for four. A total capacity of sleeping twelve people. There is a fully equipped kitchen with pots, pans, dishes and utensils for guests to cook their own meals; Whitmer's Pizza & Ice Cream is across the street - they have the best pizza and broasted chicken in the county; they also have some groceries and other emergency need items as well. There is parking for up to four cars on the two sides of the Barn and additionally, there is parking available adjacent to the Barn on the north side of the Barn in the public parking......................................................................................... DIRECTIONS: 2113 US-62 is located on the Main St within the limits of the town of Winesburg. Traveling North or South on US-62, once within the township limits the road (US-62) makes two sharp (almost 90 degree) opposite turns. 2113 is a log house located within those two turns. It sits on a corner facing US-62 with the Chestnut Street one side and the Antiques Mall on the other.

PARKING: Two cars can be parked adjacent to the Barn on the gravel driveway. There is additional parking, in the public park bellow the Barn (North), also adjacent to the Barn on the other side, on Chestnut St.

LOCAL FOOD: Winesburg Pizza is the local place to acquire most of your necessary groceries or general merchandise that you might have forgotten to bring with you. They also serve hot and cold food - roasted chicken, pizza, sandwiches and subs and other fast foods, milk shakes and ice cream. There is also a Dariette (cafe) less than a mile south on US-62, and a Marathon Gas Station one mile south on US-62.

The Winesburg baseball field/Park is located only one block north west of the Barn. There is a bank, and a US Post office located south of the Barn also on US-62 within walking distance in Winesburg.
