Private 1 Bedroom Bungalow With Private Pool

The old Racquet Club may be gone, yet the lore lives on.

Originally owned by actress Joan Fontaine (perhaps this was her Palm Springs pied à terre) and later by actor Tab Hunter (perhaps his desert hideaway bungalow or his private pool-house pad), seclusion has always been central and essential. The architecturally stylish property is totally enclosed, overlooked by swaying palms and embraced by ficus, pyracantha, bougainvillea, calliandra, dwarf bottlebrush, blue elf aloe, climbing fig, crimson flare honeysuckle and heavenly bamboo, with a large private patio and sparkling private pool. It boasts western views of the mountains that are nothing short of stunning.

The living / great room is airy and light, featuring 10’ ceilings, an Italian stone fireplace & mantelpiece and walls of floor to ceiling windows showcasing a spectacular view of the San Jacinto Mountains (named for Saint Hyacinth). The kitchen is updated with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances.

The bedroom, which can be closed off from the living room or en suite, has beautiful marble floors, a 10’ high ceiling and a large Fleetwood sliding glass door leading out to the breakfast patio.

This 1,062 sq. ft., one bedroom, one bath get-away in the beautiful Club Condominium complex, designed by renowned architect William Cody, offers classic Mid-Century Modern architectural design for the perfect desert retreat. The gated, secure complex is beautifully landscaped and also offers dedicated covered parking and a large heated community pool and spa just a short walk from the bungalow.

I am sharing my home-away-from-home for the first time as a vacation rental.

Great getaway!

We enjoyed a week at Villa Fontaine. It was the perfect spot for us. Excellent size for two adults, and very private setting with the pool and courtyard effect. Large and tall glass doors let in tons of light and allow for fantastic views of the mountains. Cozy fireplace at night. Great place to simply hang out and relax. The house is stocked with everything you need, including many thoughtful items that you would find at a full service hotel. The location is excellent, being a short distance from the main part of town with many excellent restaurants. Also close to the Tram. We have rented many Homeaway/VRBO houses over the years, and Michael is one of the very top owners. He was extremely attentive to our every need and question. He made sure everything was perfect and truly cared that we were enjoying our stay. We hope we can come back soon! Book this one -- its a winner!

Comfort and style and total privacy

Villa Fontaine is wonderful and our rental experience was excellent--from my initial contact with Michael to his timely triggering of our deposit refund.

It's as beautifully furnished as it appears in the photos. Once you enter the gate to the bungalow, you’re in a spacious courtyard with well-maintained landscaping and a lovely pool. It's sunny and totally private inside or out. We were awaken every morning by singing song sparrows and a devoted mockingbird. Hummingbirds enjoy the red flowers all day. The weather was lovely--such a treat to lounge by the pool and have breakfast and lunch outside…or as Michael suggested a glass of wine by the pool watching the sunset on the mountain that’s always in view.

We cooked dinner a couple of time in the exceptionally well equipped kitchen, but it was impossible to resist the wide array of nearby restaurants. Workshop Kitchen & Bar, Jake's, Birba and SO.PA were our favs, but there are numerous great options/choices in downtown Palm Springs.

All in all it was a 5-star experience and we'd definitely stay here again, as well as recommend it to our friends and associates.

Lovely Spot

We just got back from 10 days at Villa Fontaine. Michael and his property manager John were just excellent to work with, including easy early check-in and easy late check-out. The villa is perfect for a couple....high ceilings, beautifully furnished, with floor to ceiling windows with excellent mountain views. You wake up every day to the community of songbirds at the property....wonderful. One other thing...the large fireplace is beautiful and came in handy on the cool PS nights. The small private pool is great, but we ended up using the large community pool (very nicely heated) and jacuzzi every day...a 30 second walk from the villa. The villa is a couple of minute drive to the main design and shopping district and restaurants on Palm Canyon and an easy walk there as well.

We highly recommend Michael and Villa Fontaine.

Immaculte and perfect for our 7 day stay

Great location with easy access to downtown Palm Springs. Check in and out was via lock box with crystal clear instructions. Michael (the owner) and John ( the property manager) were well organized and responsive to our requests. My wife and I were looking for 7 days to relax and see the Palm Springs area. This spot was perfect for 2 with our own heated pool and great layout.

Immaculate and tasteful designer villa

We were thoroughly spoilt at Villa Fontaine. The place is extremely spacious for two and wonderfully bright and airy. Wall to floor glass windows and doors with clever pull down privacy blinds to keep out the sun and heat. Beautifully furnished and everything you could possibly need. The pool and outside sitting areas are divine. The essence of peace and relaxation in true film star style. Come here and experience the guilty pleasures for yourself! We will definitely be back for more.

Love at first sight! Although I have been driving out to Palm Springs to enjoy the weather with friends for years, I ran across this bungalow and fell in love with it. At first, a diamond in the rough. Now it sparkles and shines. I wanted the secluded privacy for quiet reflection, the private pool for the required water element, the stunning mountain views to keep me grounded, the streaming sunshine to fire me up, and breezes that caress the skin. And as I spent time getting acquainted with the property, one starry evening cooling in the pool, with the full moon filling the sky, I fell in love with it all over again. I hope you will too!
