About the property

2 Bedroom 1 Bath on 27 acres with trails for hiking, skiing and snowshoeing

This is a very secluded walkout located on 27 acres on Spring Lake - a wilderness lake- 1200 square feet includes two bedrooms, full modern kitchen and full modern bath living room and dining area. Built in 2010. The rental is the walkout (lower) level of a house with a private entrance. Extra bedrooms (including private bathrooms) for large groups are available on the second level. Be sure to check to see if extra bedrooms are available and request them, if you need them, when you book. The extra bedrooms are not automatically included. Sleeps 8-12.

Amenities include fishing, swimming, kayaking, hiking, snowshoe and ski trails on site. I have 2 kayaks available for your use and several pairs of snowshoes. Only 3 miles from the American Birkebeiner Trail. Take in wildlife, fall color, explore the bog and find many unique forms of wildlife. See deer from your window.

I also have two bedrooms on the upper floor each with a private bath. These bedrooms are perfect overflow for large groups. Must be requested when making reservation.

Spring Lake is located in Sawyer County, Wisconsin. This wilderness lake is 220 acres in size. It is 18.00 feet deep at its deepest point. Anglers can expect to catch a variety of fish including Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike and Walleye.

Please note the quote option on VRBO is not very flexible. I charge $25 per person per night above 2 people - but this charge is only for the first three nights. VRBO doesn't have an option with their quotes for this so if you are trying to get an estimate on a longer stay, please realize that the price will be inflated. I will adjust the price when you reserve.

I do allow pets, with a pet fee of $100 for one and $150 for two. Two pets maximum. Pets are not allowed on furniture and must be walked in specified areas.

Please note that I have special pricing for the Birkie.

Please email or call me with questions.

Deeply wooded, private, quiet and wild life all around.

  • 5 of 5

Owner on site but totally non-intrusive. Very sweet, helpful and has no issue with noise, coming in and out late and so on. Second floor rooms rival B&B's I've stayed at. Each room has modern and clean private bathroom. Lower level offers great environment for kids and younger guests. Two nice rooms with great bunk beds, full kitchen and bathroom with walk in shower. Will definitely stay again.

Spring Lake retreat

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at Barb's house for a long weekend. We had a wonderful time. The house had lots of room and the two bedrooms up stairs were lovely!! The fishing on Spring Lake was very good. We went kayaking and canoeing, too. We went into Hayward for the flea market and ate at Southern BBQ. We also canoed and kayaked down the Namakogon River. We took the boat and checked out Grindstone and LCO. It was very peaceful and beautiful!!

Comfortable and convenient place to stay on the Birkie trails

  • 5 of 5

The property was great, lots of beds and great central living area for eating and socializing. Very comfortable and close to Hayward and Birkie trails, which makes getting out to ski (if there is snow) super easy.

Bachelor Haven

  • 5 of 5

I booked Barb's place for my brother's bachelor party. Barb had room for 9 fully grown guys stay comfortably. We were a little concerned because Barb lived upstairs- a kind of duplex stay house- and as a bachelor party we were up late and loud, but it seemed that the house and area was conducive to not disturbing anyone. It was just a little walk across the road to the lake and there was a little dock where we were able keep the pontoon we rented. The lake was beautiful and peaceful with a small island in the middle. All in all Barb was extremely hospitable, allowing us to use her kayaks and canoe when we didn't get the pontoon when we had planned and helping us with any question we had. We are already talking about going back. Thanks, Barb. We had a great time.
