About the property

King Bed, Double Soaker Bath, Kitchenette, Private Entrance, Shared Hot Tub

Please note we are at the end of a bumpy, dirt road. Fox Glove is one of two units at Bowen Island Hideaway.

Fox Glove features an ensuite bathroom with large double soaker tub with airjets, kitchenette, eating area, heated polished concrete floors, private entrance and your choice of King or 2 extra long Twin beds.

Bowen Island Hideaway is located just a 10 minute drive from Snug Cove on beautiful Bowen Island. The house is located in an isolated pocket of the island surrounded by forested mountains and overlooking Killarny Lake. It is quiet, serene and peaceful. The rooms are spacious and luxurious with a modern west coast feel.

Our rooms feature soaker tubs, king or extra long twin beds, private entrances onto south facing patios, radiant heated polished concrete floors and a small kitchenette. A Jacuzzi 7 seater outdoor hot tub is available for guest use. It is a lovely place to relax on cold fall and winter days.

For those who simply can't turn it all off you have access to our wireless network, television (no cable) and a DVD player. Outside enjoy the view of Killarney Lake and Crippen Park along with the sounds of the wind and the song birds.

Deer, humming birds, song birds and large birds of prey are regular visitors to our property. At night enjoy the expansive sky. See how many constellations you can find.

Our Bed and Breakfast is a great place to come for an extended retreat. We have had guests stay here to finish books, PhD Thesis, compose music, paint and also just to be alone. We offer discounts for extended stays. Please inquire.

Environmental Philosophy

Bowen Island Hideaway strives to use environmentally neutral cleaners, organic gardening methods, renewable energy and provide mainly organic and local foods. We use mainly Norwex Clothes for our cleaning. Our hot water and in floor heating are heated using our SunPump solar Energy System. We also drive a hybrid gas/electric car.

For food we try as much as possible to buy local organic ingredients. Our water is drinkable. It is from a well on the property which is tested yearly. In addition, we have a built-in filtration and UV system which filters and sterilizes the water before it gets to any tap in the house. Our water is clean and free of chemicals. Please do not bring bottled water to the house. This just adds unnecessary waste.

Please not we are at the end of a bumpy dirt road. Explore our hiking trails, go swimming in the ocean and perhaps catch a local music concert or theatre show. Just sit on the patio and read a book that has been waiting for you to find the time. Take your binoculars and look for birds on our acreage. Or just have a long deserved nap. At the end of the day, relax in our outdoor Jacuzzi hot tub.

Nature Activities:

There are numerous hiking trails on Bowen Island. Two of the most popular destinations are: Mt. Gardner, which rewards hikers with a breath taking view of the Sunshine Coast, Lower Mainland and Washington State; and the Killarney Lake Loop, which passes through awe-inspiring Red Cedar and Hemlock forest alongside the lake. The Killarney Lake Loop trail can be easily accessed from Bowen Island Hideaway. We would be happy to give you directions when you arrive.

For those with a greater sense of adventure there are four scuba diving sites on the island as well as kayaking and sailing tours.

Arts, Culture & History:

Many artists live and work here, inspired by the natural splendour of Bowen and the more leisurely pace of island life. Galleries can be found scattered throughout the island. Visitors can find everything from metal and wood sculptures to furniture, pottery and jewellery.

There are also a number of live music performances given throughout the year.

Spa Services:

Bowen also offers many of the personal care services that its role as a retreat would suggest, including massage therapy and a full-service spa. Spa therapies can also be enjoyed in the privacy of your own room at Bowen Island Hideaway, just inquiry before you come.

While Bowen Island is a relaxing retreat for visitors, it still bustles with activity, particularly during the summer with festivals such as Bowfest, the Children's Country Fair, and the Summer Market which is open on the weekends.

Take time to visit the Gallery in Artisan Square, which promotes the work of local artisans and hosts temporary exhibits. As well, the Bowen Island Museum and Archives which contains collections focusing on the history of the island, from its role as a meeting place for First Nations people, to its formal establishment under Terminal Steamships and the Union Steamships Company, to its development today. Also on site is Higgins Logger cottage, the fascinating original dwelling of a 1940s logger.

This is an island; beaches abound. The most popular are Sandy, Tunstall Bay and Bowen Bay beaches, which offer amenities such as toilets, garbage cans, parking and easy access. Mt. Gardner Dock is a beach very close to Bowen Island Hideaway. Although not large, it has great views and is rarely visited, except by a few locals. Bowen Island Hideaway offers aqua shoes and beach towels for guests who would like to go swimming on our rocky shores.

There is also an award winning 9-hole golf course open to the public with amazing ocean and city views.
