We use mainly Norwex Clothes for our cleaning. Our hot water and in floor heating are heated using our SunPump solar Energy System. We also drive a hybrid gas/electric car.
For food we try as much as possible to buy local organic ingredients. Our water is drinkable. It is from a well on the property which is tested yearly. In addition, we have a built-in filtration and UV system which filters and sterilizes the water before it gets to any tap in the house. Our water is clean and free of chemicals. Please do not bring bottled water to the house. This just adds unnecessary waste.

At the end of the day, relax in our outdoor Jacuzzi hot tub.

Arts, Culture & History:
Many artists live and work here, inspired by the natural splendour of Bowen and the more leisurely pace of island life. Galleries can be found scattered throughout the island. Visitors can find everything from metal and wood sculptures to furniture, pottery and jewellery.
There are also a number of live music performances given throughout the year.
Bowen also offers many of the personal care services that its role as a retreat would suggest, including massage therapy and a full-service spa. Spa therapies can also be enjoyed in the privacy of your own room at Bowen Island Hideaway, just inquiry before you come.
While Bowen Island is a relaxing retreat for visitors, it still bustles with activity, particularly during the summer with festivals such as Bowfest, the Children's Country Fair, and the Summer Market which is open on the weekends.
Take time to visit the Gallery in Artisan Square, which promotes the work of local artisans and hosts temporary exhibits. As well, the Bowen Island Museum and Archives which contains collections focusing on the history of the island, from its role as a meeting place for First Nations people, to its formal establishment under Terminal Steamships and the Union Steamships Company, to its development today. Also on site is Higgins Logger cottage, the fascinating original dwelling of a 1940s logger.
This is an island; beaches abound. The most popular are Sandy, Tunstall Bay and Bowen Bay beaches, which offer amenities such as toilets, garbage cans, parking and easy access. Mt. Gardner Dock is a beach very close to Bowen Island Hideaway. Although not large, it has great views and is rarely visited, except by a few locals. Bowen Island Hideaway offers aqua shoes and beach towels for guests who would like to go swimming on our rocky shores.
There is also an award winning 9-hole golf course open to the public with amazing ocean and city views.
