Located just fifteen minutes from downtown Asheville in a net-zero energy eco-community, the Studio House is a beautiful, ultra-clean contemporary design home set in a small grove of redbuds, rhododendrons, flame azaleas, and mountain laurels. In season, pick your own berries, figs, apples, herbs and organic vegetables from the extensive edible gardens. This is a quiet country setting with no traffic and no noise! Drawing inspiration from its wooded setting, the home exterior speaks to mountain craft design with its extensive dry-stack stonework, cedar shakes, and locust trunk porch columns. Inside, the soaring space is light filled, and in this passive solar/geothermal structure the many energy efficiency measures are complemented by modern design features that include floor to ceiling commercial glass windows, concrete flooring, and steel i-beams. The house is decorated with extensive original artwork for local artist and the owner. The great room features 12 foot high glass, and a wood stove with glass window adds warmth and ambiance to the living and dining areas. The gourmet kitchen includes a finely crafted black cherry slab bar and cabinets, Bosch appliances, and all the kitchen gadgets a chef would need. Grill and dine outside on the natural stone deck and watch birds and wildlife play. A large master bedroom with queen sized bed opens onto the deck; the master bath features a two person soaking tub, walk-in natural stone shower, and two custom vanities. An additional half bath and laundry with washer and dryer are located on the ground floor. Upstairs are two large bedrooms with queen sized beds; each bedroom has an in-suite bath. The open loft is accessed via a catwalk; wide screen HDTV, DVD player, Roku movie streaming with Net-Flixs and high-speed wireless internet are provided. An air mattress and fold-out couch in the loft provides additional sleeping for four. Recreation abounds with the Blue Ridge Parkway 10 minutes away, Biltmore Village 10 minutes away, and best of all... just 6 minutes to the famous 12 Bones restaurtant. Other fine dining and food shopping (Ingles, Fresh Market, Earth Fare, and Publics) are just 5-8 minutes away. No smoking, no pets.
