Within a secured and private small 4 unit complex, this 2 bedroom, 3 bathroom spacious 2 floor house has the best ocean views & great atmosphere. Located on Hills of Santiago, is walking distance from the beach and restaurants. The pool and palapa areas have the best ocean views of the area. The house has its own outdoor jacuzzi on its 2nd floor terrace with ocean view as well. Has a big patio and covered garage if you bring your own vehicle. The second floor terrace has a bbq area.
Our first long stay in Manzanillo. This "pet friendly" property was comfortable but had it's flaws. It is well managed and has an on-site manager (Linda) who speaks fluent English, is friendly and helpful. The property is kept clean and well serviced. The King beds in both bedrooms were comfortable and the unit is spacious including the upper patio/wet bar area and bubble tub. The semi-private pool area services only 3 rental units and has a great cabana, outdoor furniture and BBQ...and great views over Santiago Bay. A good location near some of the best beaches, but access requires a 1 km walk each way (much of it on a steep hill) to get there. Cabs are cheap. We had a car. It is fairly close to local markets and big box store shopping etc. and lots of local flavor in "old town Santiago." Good local retaurants are fairly close by. There are lots of steps (50 in total) to climb up to the pool area from the "Green House /2 BR. unit".
We rented for 2 months and had some problems during our stay. All of the small appliances were old but servicable. However, the hot tub advertised is just a bubble tub with no cover. It got dirty with debris very quickly due to wind and folliage around it, and no chemicals. As a result, we did not use it. Also, when the pump was on, it leaked onto the lower patio. The clothes dryer broke down twice in the first month and we ended up with a water extractor/spinner which required clothes to be air dried (if we used it) and our clothes would then require ironing. We opted for the local laundry service which did a very nice job and was inexpensive. The unit has a small, gas fired water heater and an old gas stove. The oven did not heat well in the stove and it took us 1 month to figure out why the stove top burners barely worked from time to time. We discovered if the hot water heater fired (ie. shower, dishes etc.) the stove top burner flames almost disappeared. You could not boil water! Once we figured this out, we turned the water heater down before we cooked.
The upstairs bathroom sink has almost no water flow on either tap and the water supply for showering etc. in the entire unit was inconsistent (ie. changed temperatures and pressure alot during use) There is no A/C but lots of ceiling fans. During our stay, the fans kept us comfortable. We had other small carpentry and mechanical repair issues which were dealt with quickly by Linda. Good value for the price, but as I said, the unit has some issues.
Very nice place, the only thing i didn't like is that it was hot and the fans they have is not enough, other than that loved the view.
My family and I (four total) spend five days at Santiago Hills. The place is clean and nice. It has everything you need and lots of space. At the beginning we were concern about not having air conditioning but the ceiling fans were enough. We enjoyed our time and the food at the beach. The charge $150 pesos for the use of the shade and chairs plus delicious sea food. Had the opportunity to visit Colima, Comala and Barra de Navidad. The owner Linda was nice enough to drive us to all these places. You do need a car or take a taxi if you want to go to the store or do some shopping. If you are looking for some time away from the business of life and enjoyed the sun and the beach, this is the place for you!

We shared this separate unit with another couple. Great space set-up. As you can see with discriptions. Photos are very correct. We were able to hear the loud crashing of waves from a distance but didn't have to hear any road noise. I got up early and enjoyed the deck and saw sunrises, waves, and heard roosters crowing. Very friendly house manager(owners mother). She attended to anything we asked. We never plan on returning to places we've been for we want new experiences, but we will probably return here.
Just returned from a very relaxing 9 day stay at Colinas de Santiago. This was our second time there and we stayed in the new two bedroom suite at the bottom of the complex. One word of caution..there are more than 50 stairs from the suite up to the pool so...if you are out of shape you might want to stay in one of the two upper suites...We enjoyed ourselves very much and made some lovely new friends. Our suite was spacious and airy with lots of fans to keep the breezes blowing through. Hermalinda's hospitality and care is second to none! She took us shopping in the nearby village and shared with us her favourite fish (yummy prawns), meat and vegetable vendors...She took us to the doctor clinic when I, klutzy as ever, fell and broke my foot. It is so nice having someone there to interpret for you in a time of need! Thank you so much for everything Hermalinda. I would highly recommend these villas.
