Just a coconut’s throw from the beach and Costa Rica’s favorite local surf spots, Villa Norte is perfectly appointed with 3 bedrooms (2 primary suites) and 3 baths plus washer/dryer, dishwasher, BBQ, coffeemaker, blender, and reliable internet/cable TV. You’ll be welcome in casual coastal luxury with fresh flowers, linens and towels as well as comfortable furnishings inside and out. Each bedroom features air conditioner, ceiling fan, screened windows and sliding glass doors with private balcony or terrace access. The ocean view family room, dining room and modern kitchen also feature ceiling fans, screened windows and sliding glass doors leading out to your outdoor terrace and private pool, all surrounded by lush flora and fauna.
Villa Norte is an easy 5-minute drive or picturesque 20-minute walk on the beach to the surf town, Dominical with cafes and shops and a small, fully stocked grocery store. There’s also Uvita, just a short 15-minute drive away with more shops and cafes. No casinos, high rise hotels, or all-inclusive resorts here, just an easygoing vibe where people come together to eat, drink and embrace life. Reliable taxi and food delivery service also available.
Located in Costa Rica’s southern Pacific zone, most rental houses are high up in the mountains and require a 4WD vehicle to access, but Villa Norte is virtually on the beach so any car you get will easily handle the drive from San Jose airport to your front door. Manuel Antonio National Park also only a 45-minute drive away.
Caballitos del Mar, Villa Norte sits alongside two other beachfront villas (Caballitos del Mar, Villa Central and Villa Sur). All 3 villas enjoy the sights and sounds of the sea along with their own private pool, balcony and terrace, each separated via the natural flora, affording your own secluded slice of Pura Vida heaven. The Caballitos del Mar Villas may be rented separately or together for a fully private experience for friends and family or other happy gathering.

Nice property and beach with caveat
Unfortunately, my husband and I were not able to go to Costa Rica, but our friends did stay in the property. They enjoyed the house, pool and beach and thought Dominical was charming with good restaurants. The caveat is that the house is located near a main road, so there is significant noise from commercial traffic. If you can overlook that factor, the proximity to the water is very good and the house is nice.

Only one negative....
The house is lovely, The location, perfect. The beach, stunningly beautiful and at low tide a great walk into Dominical. The bedrooms are fine. Kitchen very well equipped, one of the best of all the homes I've rented over the years. The pool is perfect. The host was very responsive and helpful. The only negative, no AC in the main house, only in the bedrooms. It was near 90 degrees every day so the living spaces were quite uncomfortable. But, everything else about the house was delightful.

Excellent location and beach
The property is beautiful including the perfectly groomed gounds. We enjoyed playing in the ocean waves, walking on the beach, and swimming in the pool. We met several local families sharing the beach. The Palm trees full of coconuts and Henry shared a couple with us, cutting them and opening them for us to enjoy a fresh drink and tasty fresh coconut meat. The restaurants in Dominical were excellent! We made great memories here. 💗

Wonderful New Year break
We were a family group of 8 people ranging from 53 down to 15. This house was perfect for us, very spacious, lots of room by the pool, great size pool with perfect temperature. We went to a great New Year’s Eve party at Fuego brewery (reservations required), took a snorkel trip out of Uvita that the hosts helped book, went to Manuel antonio (an hour north), hiked to waterfalls (very close by, short drive). Hosts also helped us with car rental from the airport. Fantastic trip, great house, so nice being right on the beach, very easy drive into Dominical for food and groceries, and also easy to walk there along the beach.

We fell in love with the Dominical area when visiting in 2004 while attending a Spanish language school in town. We found this rare parcel of ocean-front property and began the long process of building three lovely villas that are nestled into the shoreline jungle, while being as close to the beach as possible. We wanted a property where families could rent one, two, or three of the villas and no one would get short-changed. The two families that own the property both travel extensively, and have a good idea of what other travelers expect. No one wants to be "nickel and dimed" with extra charges and harsh penalties: they want to be treated fairly and get good value for their travel budget. That's our goal with Caballitos del Mar. Each villa has the same floor plan, but each also feels different due to the different views of the ocean and gardens. The ground floor is accessible, and has the advantage of a bedroom that opens right out onto the terrace and pool areas. A great room, with living room, dining area and kitchen, is the hub of the house, allowing a cool place to cook, use a computer, or dine. The upstairs features two bedrooms; one which is a "master" with ensuite bathroom, and one which has two beds and is frequently used by children. We chose YouGetHere to manage our property because they have the same high standards that we do, and they keep a close eye on the amenities and condition of the property so that no guests are disappointed. They can provide tour information, arrange for a private chef, or just answer questions about the area. They consistently get high marks in our reviews because they care about making everyone's vacation as good as it can be.

Why they chose this property

We love being close to the beach and close to town. Dominical is a quiet, sort of funky village that has lovely, locally-owned restaurants and shops, with a feeling of casualness and a love of nature. Surfing appears to be the draw for many, but it's really the closeness of the community to Costa Rica's biodiversity that permeates the place. All tourism is "ecotourism", and it's not a marketing ploy, it's the real deal. The shoreline is constantly changing with the tide and the season. One day it's smooth sand, and the next day it's full of smooth pebbles from the constant movement of the surf. With tides in the 3 meter range, the appearance of the beach changes from compact to vast over the course of six hours. The afternoon showers which occur for about half the year bring some exciting changes in the weather, but only for an hour or so at a time.

This is a unique oceanfront property that is as close to the water as possible. • The beach is less than a 30m/100' stroll from the oceanfront garden. • A gorgeous private tiled pool is perfect for cool dips morning to night. • Beautiful landscaped tropical gardens with gorgeous tropical flowers. • The property is easy to access year 'round; 4x4 vehicles are not necessary. • There is an onsite staff providing housekeeping, security, and gardening. • Easy walk or drive to the supermarket, restaurants, stores & Dominical town. • Surf spots are as close as walking out to the beach, or wandering up the beach to Dominical. • YouGetHere offers concierge services, which to name a few choices: On-site chef, massage, ecotourism tours, and whitewater rafting (among others.) • You will be personally met and escorted to the property, and given a tour of the villa, to ensure a fun and relaxing trip to Dominical and the Pacific Coast region!
