A Large, Newly Renovated Separate Studio Ohana That Easily Sleeps Two!

A large, newly renovated studio ohana that easily sleeps two people in the queen size bed. Beautiful full bathroom with shower. This ohana is a separate building from the main house and has a lanai with bbq and outside dining. Big expansive ocean views.

We like to think we have thought of nearly everything. Solid bamboo floors. Kitchen area with two burner cook-top, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, rice cooker, & full size refrigerator. Eating area with teak bar table and chairs. Living area with elephant bamboo sofa and chair. Television and high speed internet. REALLY high speed dedicated internet of 100 mbs. If you get tired of going to the beach, swimming in the ocean, or traveling the island, the ohana has both Direct TV and a Netflix account. There are bluetooth speakers to listen to music. We've put towel bars and hooks outside to dry your towels and bathing suits. Plus, we've put hooks in the shower on which to hang your wet bathing suits.

While the space is most comfortable, and priced, for two people, we can supply you with a queen sized Aerobed air mattress if you'd like to have your child/children travel with you.

This is a separate building on our property, but is directly next door to the main building. You'll have access to the ohana building and attached lanai. We have two standard poodles that we run in the ravine in front of the property and they will run in front of your lanai. If you like them, they'll play with you, too!

We live on the property. We will leave you alone as much as possible, other than to say hello and answer your questions, but if you need anything we'll be available.

This neighborhood is called Kohala Estates. It is located on the Kohala Coast of the Big Island. This is one of two non-gated communities in the entire region. Throughout the months of December-April, you can see humpback whales from our lanai. The humpbacks come from Alaska to have their babies in the warm Hawaiian waters. This is a lovely quiet place to live. All of the houses here sit on lots of a minimum of 1.3 acres.

This is agricultural land. The buildings sit on 1.35 acres. We have two extremely friendly standard poodles, two African grey parrots, and eight chickens. There is also a donkey that comes to visit us a couple of days a week who, sometimes, lets his presence be known by braying. There can be some animal noises on the property sporadically throughout the day.

This region is considered to be desert. We average only 10 inches of rain per year. During our "rainy" season (August-November) our brown grass turns green and we can get some mosquitoes a few days after it rains. Most of the time, it is a dry, desert climate.

You need a car out here. We are nearly an hour from the Kona airport and two hours from the Hilo airport. We are thirty minutes from Waimea, twenty from Hawi, and ten from Kawaihae.

There are some good restaurants in Kawaihae like Cafe Pesto, Plantation Grill, Blue Dragon, and Seafood Bar. Big Island Shave Ice is, arguably, the best on the island and is right down the road in Kawaihae. Kohala Divers and Ocean Sports are also in Kawaihae. You can get a steal of a deal on kayak rentals at Kohala divers. The nearest beaches are Hapuna, Beach 69, Mauna Kea, and Puako. There are some high end resorts nearby with some excellent dining options as well. The restaurants at the Fairmont Orchid are particularly good if you are going to celebrate a special occasion or just want an extremely good meal. The farmer's market in Hawi on Saturday is one of the best on the island. Make sure you sample of the huge variety of bananas. You'll be amazed by the taste differences!

Something interesting is that we are in the desert at our house. Hawi is a rainy, farming area and it is only 20 minutes away. Waimea has a dry side and a wet side and is normally about 15/20 degrees cooler than we are. In the winter there is often snow on the mountains! We have an enormous variety of climate zones on this island. In one day, you can experience ten different climates!

We ask that you leave the ohana as close as possible to the way you found it when you arrived and follow our check out procedures when you leave to make it simple for our cleaner. If the unit is left excessively dirty we will take the extra cleaning fees from your security deposit to make up for the additional charges from the cleaner.
