An expansive ocean and mountain view cottage located near prime beaches, snorkeling, restaurants, whale watching and hiking. You can see three mountains from the property, plus sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean. This is a large, soothing, intentionally renovated studio ohana that comfortably sleeps two. There are big ocean and mountain views. In the winter months you may even see whales from the lanai! The dark skies make the stargazing sublime.

The unit comfortably sleeps two people in the queen size bed. There is a full bathroom with shower. This ohana has a large private lanai with bbq and outside dining. Big expansive ocean and mountain views of Mauna Loa and Hualalai. Mauna Kea is also visible from the property.
If you get tired of going to the beautiful nearby beaches, swimming in the crystal clear ocean, snorkeling, hiking, zip-lining, or exploring the island, the ohana has wireless internet, Direct TV, and a Netflix account. There are also bluetooth speakers to listen to music.
While the space is most comfortable, and priced, for two people, we can supply you with an Aerobed air mattress if you'd like to have your child/children travel with you. We also have a Pack n Play for very young children.

We live on the property and will leave you alone as much as possible, other than to say hello and answer your questions, but if you need anything we'll be available.
If there is something I can do to improve your stay, PLEASE let me know. As far as I know, everything is in perfect working order. If you experience anything lacking, kindly let me know and I will address it.
On the premises there are two friendly standard poodles, two African grey parrots, five dwarf goats, five ducks and nine chickens. There is also a donkey that comes to visit a couple of days a week. There can be some animal noises on the property, sporadically, throughout the day.
All people are welcome at Kohala Loke Lani. All 'diversities' are welcome and encouraged.

I bought this property for the views. It had been abandoned for several years and needed a full renovation and I'm always up for that kind of challenge.
We so enjoyed our stay on the big island. The accommodations exceeded our expectations. If you are looking for a quiet, comfortable, well furnished bungalow with a wonderful ocean and mountain view then this is the place. The owners were a joy! They were most accommodating and insightful with many great suggestions for places to visit. All beach and snorkel gear is provided with superb beaches near by. The location is terrific. We can't wait to come back!
It was the most perfect getaway I've experienced! Pamela is an excellent host. The property is very relaxing and beautiful. It has everything you need for a short or long vacation.
This is THE place. Beautiful views with fully stocked kitchen, beach equipment, and great hosts (Pamela and John).
The property is ideally located 1 mile off the main highway so very tranquil, with lots and lots of birds and a visit from a wild donkey named Geronimo.
We were greeted with genuine warmth and kindness from Pamela and John, and they provided us with farm fresh eggs from their hens. Wow and the eggs were so delicious!!! You will also find chickens, ducks, goats and dogs (without any barking). This was truly paradise in Hawaii.
We are definitely staying here on our next visit and hope to see everyone and everything here later this year.
Many thanks to Pamela and John for a special few days in their lovely property. We arrived late after a four-hour flight delay, but having managed to make contact we were welcomed by a consolation beer supply in the fridge! The recently renovated property is stand-alone, but next door to the main house. It was really nice to meet the owners - the only VRBO Hawaiian property where we did - Pamela was a mine of information from local bird life to best ice cream on the island. Beautifully decorated and fitted out with a lanai overlooking hills to the sea. Big-screen TV, good wifi, all the kitchen equipment needed, a good shower (always a key test for me) and all towels and linen provided. Kona is a reasonable day trip - have a late lunch at the brewery.
We totally enjoyed our stay at John and Pamela's "cottage"! Very quiet, very comfortable and really a great location to explore the beaches and small towns of the Northwest (and east) coast.
The cottage has everything you need, including beach chairs, boogey boards and even eggs from their chickens (nice touch!).

Kohala Loke Lani is a wonderful retreat that we come back to whenever we can. Pamela and John are excellent hosts and we look forward to our next visit already.

We keep our cleaning fees quite low. We ask that you leave the ohana as close as possible to the way you found it when you arrived and follow our check out procedures when you leave to make it simple for our cleaner. If the unit is left excessively dirty we will take the extra cleaning fees from your security deposit to make up for the additional charges from the cleaner.
