SMALL, HIGH-STYLE RETREAT PERFECTLY SITUATED FOR WORLD CLASS SKIING / BOARDING
Summit County is the ultimate winter playground, and Elevation Corner is a great launch pad. You can be at the areas's major ski resorts in no time. That is if -- like us -- you're fired up for fresh tracks and powdery steeps and drive accordingly:
-- Keystone: 7 min away
-- Arapahoe Basin: 13 min
-- Copper Mountain: 18 min
-- Breckenridge: 20 min
-- Vail: 38 min
Or if you're so inclined, throw your skis or board over your shoulder and hoof the 13 minutes through the snow from the studio to the “Summit Stage” shuttle bus stop, and head wherever you want for free.
Are you a cross country skier or snowshoer? The Keystone Nordic Center is less than 10-minute walk. Or, just hit the snowshoe trailhead that is literally around the block.
Elevation Corner provides a wonderful combination of convenience and access but in a quiet neighborhood just removed from the noisy hubbub of the resort centers themselves.
ABOUT THE STUDIO.
Experience Summit County from this hip, cozy nook in the charming Key West Farms community of Dillon. A portion of the first floor of our beloved home in the mountains is "Elevation Corner," and it's yours. This small studio is perfect for a couple who values tidy footprint, high style, comfort, and peace and quiet combined with adventurer-friendly functionality and close proximity to virtually limitless outdoor fun. Our location is near perfect.
At mealtime, the restaurants of Keystone, Dillon, Frisco and Breckenridge are all an easy drive. Or take a short stroll to our great neighborhood joints, the wonderful Cala Inn or tasty Last Chance Pizza. There's also a liquor store and the Pour House coffee shop an easy stroll from Elevation Corner.
The studio itself is a 380 square foot studio apartment that is everything a couple or single traveler needs and nothing you don’t. We hear again and again that guests love it. It's small, but the layout is optimal. It's cozy without being cramped. It's just right.
The studio is appointed in a sleek, rustic modern manner. If your idea of a relaxing getaway includes a cozy place to stay that is also clean-lined, uncluttered, and contemporary without being sterile -- true mountain modern -- Elevation Corner is for you.
Get a great night's sleep in the queen size platform bed featuring Fieldcrest Luxury 500 thread count sheets and both Allerease Naturals organic cotton pillows and Threshold hypoallergenic down-alternative pillows.
The views from the apartment to the Ten Mile Range to the west are superb.
Enjoy our quirky, eclectic collection of nature-inspired original paintings and photographs plus mountain-inspired prints, and even a hand-painted table.
And Elevation Corner is in a "locals" neighborhood. If you want to be away from the noisy hubbub of the more typical lodging options near the mountain resorts, Elevation Corner is a great option. You can get a sense of how mountain locals live. The neighborhood is very quiet, but you can be eating, drinking and making merry within minutes.
Elevation Corner is a "mother-in-law" studio apartment within our home. It has its own entrance directly adjacent to the driveway, so guests can park immediately in front of the door. The driveway is shared with the larger house, but there is a dedicated parking spot for Elevation Corner. (No trudging across big parking lots or maneuvering cramped elevators.)
One consideration: we work from home as well as live at the house full time. One of the home offices is directly above the studio. Workdays start early, and occasionally, the sound of a voice on a work phone call will carry into the studio. Or the sounds of us entertaining (early) on a Friday or Saturday evening Of course, we don’t want our guests’ peace and relaxation to be interrupted, so the studio has a fan and a white noise machine. No guests have ever reported having their peace or quiet disrupted, and we don't intend for that to ever happen. But we want to be fully transparent.
NO CLEANING FEE.
When we travel to VRBO houses, which is fairly often, we hate being charged a cleaning fee. We understand the principle, but we just feel nickled and dimed. So we don't charge it.
The Elevation Corner Studio is the perfect spot for mountain bike, hiking, and other summertime adventures in the Rockies. While the studio is in the perfect location for wintertime ski getaways, it's in the summertime that it really comes into its own.
>> TRAILHEAD AROUND THE BLOCK. The trailhead for world-class hiking, mountain biking, and trail running is around the corner from us. Enjoy the gradual singletrack climb up out of our neighborhood to access any and all of the wholly underrated mountain biking that Summit County has to offer. Leave your car and its bike racks parked, and just ride from the studio! From your door you can piece together quick 1-hour rides from our home, or lung-busting all-day epics. There are above tree-line vistas, in-the-zone flow trails, rocky technical bits, and bombing descents. Summit County mountain biking is the absolute best. Or head 5 minutes up the road to Keystone, grab a summer-lift ticket, and spend the day down-hilling only.
>> LOCKABLE SHED FOR YOUR BIKE(S). Elevation Corner has a dedicated, lockable shed for the bikes. The shed is on the back of the house, invisible from the street, and our neighborhood is extraordinarily safe. A lock is in the studio for you to use.
>> PAVED BIKE PATH SYSTEM. Grab your road bike and hop on the paved bike path out the front door, which will take you anywhere in Summit County. Or if you're looking for something more leisurely, in the late afternoon, hop on your bikes and take the 20 minute ride around Lake Dillon with the Ten Mile Range towering before you, and grab a drink, have some dinner, or take in an outdoor concert at the Dillon Marina. Or ride a leisurely 15 minutes to the Keystone River Run Village.
>> 7-MINUTE WALK TO KEYSTONE RIVER COURSE CLUBHOUSE. Are you a golfer? Throw your clubs over your shoulder and take the scenic 7-minute stroll along a paved path to the clubhouse of the renowned Keystone River Course. Don’t feel like walking? The clubhouse parking lot is a 4-minute drive.
>> WALK TO DINNER OR DRINKS. Walking distance from Elevation Corner is a neighborhood liquor store, a coffee shop, a pizza joint, and the fantastic Cala Inn, a watering hole with surprisingly great food.
>> AMAZING SUMMER FESTIVALS. The outdoor festivals in the summertime in Summit County are among the best parts of living here. Come up, do a morning ride or hike, then eat and drink the afternoon or evening away.
