About Pam and Mike Cruey

Mike and I met in 2000 here in the Harrisburg area and we have been inseparable ever since. Mike is originally from northern Kentucky, and I grew up Northwest of Pittsburgh. We both love the outdoors, and have our own house just down the road from this cottage. We have horses, bees, chickens, and our dogs Sophie and Elvis - a menagerie of furry friends that keep us busy and entertained. Our blended family of four children are all grown, and now we have the pleasure of enjoying our four grandchildren, Levi, Norah, Evelynn Josephine and Benson. Mike served in the US Army for 20 years and we proudly offer a military discount to our guests who are currently serving in the military or are retired from service. Please inquire about our military discount!

Why Pam and Mike Cruey chose Dauphin

When we built our own house in 2007 and first moved to the River Road area, we fell in love with this cottage when we would walk past it. It was of course owned at that time by someone else, but we talked about how lovely it would be to own it ourselves one day. The house was originally built in 1939 as a summer home for a Harrisburg family and is filled with character!

The wood work throughout the house and fabulous deck out back intrigued us, and we knew it would be a great place to entertain. When it went up for sale, we made an offer on day one! We knew we could give this cottage what it needs - some time/attention, a little love, and fill it with people who would enjoy the river and the relaxing peace this cottage has to offer. We hope that you enjoy this cottage as much as we do!

A great retreat but close to all the essentials.

  • 5 of 5

The property was exactly as described. We enjoyed cozying up by the fire and watching the snow. We ended up staying in one evening to fix dinner and the kitchen has everything you need to cook up a feast.

Cabin on the river, perfect!

  • 5 of 5

This is one of my favorite places I've stayed while traveling. The house is quaint yet comfortable, the views are spectacular, and the hosts are top-notch. 3rd year in a row staying here and already booked for next year. Can't get enough.

Wonderful stay!

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at Mike and Pam's cabin for a few days after Christmas 2017. The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed. Mike and Pam were wonderful to work with during the booking process and during our stay. Mike was even nice enough to come shovel the snow for us! They also provided a partial refund since we had to leave a day early to return to NC for a funeral. It was really, really cold during our stay (so cold, the river even froze!) but the heaters and fireplace were able to keep us warm. We would love to come stay during the summer! Thanks again!

Wonderful, even in the dead of winter!

  • 5 of 5

Wow, did we have a show of nature this past weekend! In the midst of general enjoyment of family and a cozy, well-stocked cottage, we had eerie fog obscuring a frozen river; a sunny day complete with bald eagles and a small channel of water pushing through an ice-covered expanse; and then to top it off, chunks and chunks of ice floating and pushing down a now-melting torrent. All nine of us came away from the weekend with smiles and great memories. A big thank you to our thoughtful hosts for providing so many items (linens, hair dryers, shampoo and soap, trash bags, toilet paper, paper towels, etc) so we didn't have to. We will most definitely be back! Can't wait to take advantage of all of the outdoor amenities!!

What a wonderful and welcoming experience. Lots of amenities and great location for travel to any local attraction (Hershey, Harrisburg , etc). We were even crazy enough to take the kayaks out in December!
