Newly renovated and furnished, Jewell Street is our contemporary open plan FAMILY home offering all the comforts of home. It is located in the heart of Crown Point, a desirable, quiet residential neighborhood in Pacific Beach, one block from Ski Bay and 10 minutes to the Pacific Ocean. Use our beach cruisers to cycle around Mission Bay on the bike trail from Crown Point to the Pacific Ocean. All San Diego attractions are easily accessible from our home with easy access to all freeways. It is only a 5 minute drive to Sea World! 15 minutes to Down Town San Diego, La Jolla, Old Town, Coronado Island or Balboa Park to visit the world famous San Diego Zoo. Legoland with its own water park is approximately 45 minutes drive. Mexico south of the border is an easy drive away.

Just around the corner from Jewell Street is Crown Point Park with many community events and offering everything from children's play areas, bike paths, bonfire pits, picnic tables, basketball courts and restrooms.

Offering two bedrooms and one full bath in the main house, our beach cottage also has a detached loft offering additional sleeping accommodations/bonus room and a lovely Bay and Downtown view. A second modest utilty bathroom with shower is also available on the ground floor of the detached garage. This is great for overflow capacity and showering after the beach!

The house is equipped with smoke and C02 detectors.

Enjoy al-fresco dining on the attached covered patio or just relax on the old fashioned porch swing. The garden offers spacious seating under the cover of mature trees where you can BBQ or just enjoy the perfect climate in one of San Diego's most desirable residential areas.

Jewell Street's open living plan is designed with every comfort in mind. The open and light living room offers a contemporary decor with a comfortable full sleeper couch and chaise. Two ceiling fans add to the ambiance and help to keep the room cool. Large windows and French doors allow the enjoyment of outdoors or with blinds, the privacy of your own domain. A fountain with water feature offers soothing sounds to calm the spirit.

The dining room is furnished with a beautiful dining table seating 8 people comfortably. The newly refinished open kitchen is fully equipped and includes granite counter tops, new cookware and utensils. Basic starting supply of staples including basic spices, paper products are provided. We do ask that you replace anything which you finish during your stay so our next guests will have a starting supply. Make your culinary adventures more sociable by sharing a glass of wine and conversation with your family or friends with bar seating for four.

The master bedroom is spacious and is fitted with a Cal King bed, wooden floors, ceiling fan, a gas fireplace and a 40" flat screen Smart TV. The second bedroom, also with wooden floors, will sleep three comfortably with a double bunk bed. A large cozy window seat is a great place to lounge!

Enjoy a beautiful view of the Bay and Downtown San Diego from the spacious loft above the detached garage. This game room/extra bedroom offers the perfect retreat to enjoy the sunset with a cocktail in hand or for the children to relax, play games or watch television on the 40" flat screen Smart TV. The loft to enjoy the views of the Bay and Downtown.. The Loft will comfortably sleep four with a Queen sofa bed with a memory foam mattress and a trundle day bed with two twin (single) beds.

The main house offers one principal bathroom with a tub shower. However, additional modest utility bathroom facilities are available in the finished detached garage. A full shower, toilet and basic utility sink are available to accommodate additional demand or post beach showers.

French doors from the living room open to the covered, open air decking offering the perfect setting for al fresco dining. Furnished with a rattan patio dining set with cushioned chairs, your outdoor dining will be cozy and comfortable. The old fashioned porch swing graces the porch for a great place to read a book or relax after a day at the beach.

For children, the enclosed garden offers plenty of freedom to safely run around. There is a free standing children's two story play house offering hours of imaginative play. For older children, a basketball hoop and basketball are available.

For outdoor and beach activities, borrow one of our beach cruisers (with helmets) and enjoy the amenities of Mission Bay! Cycle around Mission Bay on the scenic boardwalk/bike path and cross easily over to the ocean boardwalk of Pacific Beach. All water sports, from sailing, paddle boarding, kayaking, jet skiing are available nearby. Paradise Point, the Catamaran Hotel and Mission Bay Sailing Center among others offer water sports rentals.

Jewell Street offers the use of beach towels, beach umbrella, a beach wagon, two paddle boards, 5 beach cruisers with helmets, boogie boards and beach chairs. There are also two life vests for paddling. A Weber BBQ is also available with utensils and a starting supply of briquettes. We do ask that you replace these so our next guests will have a starting supply as well. Off street parking is available for two cars. A washer and dryer are available for your use in the detached garage.

As this is a residential neighborhood, it is essential that all of our guests respect the noise restrictions and are considerate of our neighbors. Therefore, no loud music, NO PARTIES and no loud conversation outside after 10.00 pm. Guests must be over age 30. Our home is best suited to families. Please provide the reason for your visit and the ages and gender of your party when submitting a booking request. Please be prepared to provide a drivers license upon booking. Logistics of sleeping arrangements are best suited to families so please review the bedroom and bathroom arrangements BEFORE booking.

Access information will be provided upon booking. Our local property manager is available 24/7 to assist with special needs or any problems up may encounter.

About Brenda Campbell Hubbard

The Hubbard Family is thrilled to have purchased Jewell Street in June 2015, the culmination of a long term dream to own a property in Southern California after living abroad for 17 years in England. Growing up in Orange County, California, Brenda, one of seven siblings, has pined to be back in California, away from the grey and gloom of England, and reunited with family and friends. Jewell Street is an answer to prayers and fulfillment of her English husband, Andrew's, promise to one day have a property in California. The family of 5 fell in love with Jewell Street on first sight on a recent visit and a dream became reality. A family affair, Brenda's brother and nephew completely gutted the property giving it a new contemporary beach feel. Still living full time outside of London, England, the Hubbards, are pleased to share their beach retreat with loving families and friends to enjoy and share the many wonderful attractions of San Diego's Pacific Beach.

Although they would love to spend all of their time here, with three children in full time education in England, Jewell Street will be available to vacationers year round with exception of the few weeks a year it can be used for holidays and festivities in California.

The family's long term goal is to spend more and more time in San Diego after the kids are in university. Until then, help the Hubbard's continue their dream by making their home your home while you are in San Diego.

The climate is perfect year round, so no matter what time of year, you are guaranteed lovely warm weather. Vacationing here as a child, San Diego holds many memories! The outdoor life style perfectly suits the demands of our family!

What makes this house unique

Many bidders offered to buy Jewell Street when it was on the market. Fortunately for us, the owner looked beyond the developers wishing to renovate and turn the property for a quick profit and accepted the offer of a family wishing to slowly transition their lives back to the USA. The elderly seller was pleased that our young twin daughters would be able to enjoy the playhouse, situated in the rear garden, which her grandchildren often enjoyed. The cottage feel of the house with its white picket fence was so homey and inviting. We had a vision for creating a real home with character, yet a more contemporary beach cottage. The house now enjoys a covered front porch furnished with a rocking bench seat to watch the humming birds or chat with the neighbors. However, the attached decking with porch swing and al fresco dining which enters into the spacious open living plan was the epitome of the beach living. We just love the house and think you will too!

  • Garage bathroom is modest and has only utility sink and shower and toilet. It is quite functional, but utilitarian and not upscale! My family happily used the extra bathroom for overlap and overflow at peak use times.

Great place, plenty of room to relax, great location - quiet neighborhood close to beach and away from traffic and crowds yet close for driving to Zoo, Balboa Park, etc. the provision of paper products for starters was a fantastic perc - paper towels, toilet paper, etc. Wide assortment of cooking utensils and pots / pans as well as silverware, plates, bowls, glasses... Excellent place to stay with all and more comforts of home!

Wow!

This house was amazing! I really don’t know where to start! We were welcomed with a gift basket and well organized information to help with our stay. The kids LOVED the play house. The room above the garage felt like a break from everything else in the world. The porch swing was another favorite relaxing spot. The list goes on! We will definitely plan to stay here again!

Great location on the bay

This home is well appointed and well maintained. Two bathrooms, especially one convenient to the sleeping area over the garage, would improve its ability to sleep 6 people.

However, for most of our guests, the eclectic nature of the beach bungalow with the utility bathroom/shower room in the garage seems to work for holidays! The second bathroom in the garage is great for post beach showers and adds extra capacity to the main bathroom when hosting larger numbers.
