Overview

About the property

2 Bdrm, 2 Ba Equestrian Property on 2.5 Fenced Acres with Mountain Views

This two bedroom, two bath house is approximately 1580 sq. ft., sits on approximately 2.5 fenced acres. The property has central air conditioning and heating, an open floor plan, and travertine floor throughout. If renting in the off season, the air conditioning is an especially nice feature.

The master bedroom is a generous size, with a comfortable king-size, pillow top mattress, ceiling fan, TV and a Jotul (Yodel) heater. The master bathroom has granite countertops, dual vanities, and a large shower. The second bedroom has a queen-size bed, and a large guest bath with a Jacuzzi soaking tub. The kitchen has generous storage, with hickory cabinets, granite countertops, large refrigerator and a gas range. The living room has a wood burning fireplace that can easily heat the entire home during the winter, or if you prefer, there is central heating. The living room has a large, 60" flat screen TV (not shown in pictures) with local available channels and a DVD player. Finally, there is a large covered patio where you can BBQ, enjoy a glass of wine, take in the spectacular sunsets, observe the numerous birds, or marvel at the Milky Way stretching across a dark sky.

Well behaved dogs are welcome, as the property is fully fenced. There is also a 5 x 10 kennel in the back yard. Two horse stalls have been installed if you would like to bring your horses and not have to board them. There is an additional fee for boarding horses at the house.

There much to see and do around this area. It is approximately 20 minutes to Patagonia where there is exceptional bird watching, boating and fishing, 30 minutes to Sierra Vista where you can go take in a movie or a variety of shopping venues. Or, you can visit the historic towns of Tombstone, Tubac or Bisbee. Both Tubac and Bisbee are home to a large artist community and have many unique stores. The Kartchner Caverns are about 30 minutes away.

Due to the nature of communications, crafting a rental agreement addressing each renter's individual needs, (pet/no pet, long-term vs .short term), and making sure the property is prepared as necessary, we require a 5-day advance notice to rent the property. We regret that we cannot entertain last-minute renters.

The house, and kitchen in particular, is well-stocked. No additional kitchen items should be needed. Please feel free to contact us with any questions about what you may/may not need to bring.

Why Bart Lawrence and Britta Appel chose Sonoita

We purchased this property shortly after we saw it several years ago. We both knew immediately that this was the perfect property for us. Our children have moved away or are in college and the size, privacy and amenities of this home suited us perfectly. We are both avid equestrians and love the outdoors.

What makes this house unique

Our favorite feature of this home is the back patio. At the end of the day, this is where we spend our time fixing dinner, watching the birds, deer or other wildlife, and witnessing stunning sunsets. Two stalls are available for horses, and a dog kennel is also available on the property.

Wonderful property

  • 5 of 5

My two week stay was exactly as hoped... The home was in immaculate condition, with everything fitting the profile description. The modern kitchen was fully stocked with good plates, cups, pots/pans, and related cookware. The master bedroom was on the west side of the house, so no early morning rays of sunshine to wake you up! And the bed is very comfortable.

Having the garage to park my car in was a nice bonus!

As noted in the home's description, there is no internet service. My Verizon phone, however, had no issues serving as a hot spot. I streamed movies, downloaded music, etc. Ensure that you adjust your data plan accordingly. If you have service other than Verizon, check whether coverage extends to Sonoita.

Speaking of the town, it offers the basics (post office, gas station, small grocery store, and several good restaurants and a brew pub). The fairgrounds have events on occasion if you're fortunate enough to be here for a rodeo, barrel race, etc. If you need a dose of the city, Tucson is an hour (give or take) and Sierra Vista 40 minutes.

Otherwise, all good things to report. The birds were out in full force during my stay (hummingbirds, doves, finches, etc) should you want to feed them. A few crows ventured in during my time as well.

I've had no interaction with the neighbors, less when their dogs barked occasionally or a car drove by. But the folks I've seen on the back roads have all been friendly.

In short, the home is exactly as one would expect. It's not an isolated locale -- just five minutes from town -- but far enough from neighbors that you can enjoy a peaceful evening or day watching birds or the sunset.

All in all, I couldn't be happier to have chosen this location for my stay. I look forward to returning!

Wonderful Rental Property!

  • 5 of 5

The property was exactly as advertised, charming, clean and fully equipped. As a pet friendly property it allowed us the opportunity to explore all the beautiful lakes and wineries in southern AZ with our dogs in tow, and use the house a base camp for each new day of adventure. It's super convenient to Sonoita for restaurants and supplies and not far from Patagonia and Elgin area wineries. Property owner is very friendly and quite helpful to ensure a high quality stay and local experience.

Just liked I dreamed!

  • 5 of 5

Wow! The place was great. The setting was just as described. We had a little snow, but that's February no matter where you are. Britta was so great. Helpful, but respectful of our privacy. Would I stay again? In a New York minute.

Owner's Response: It was wonderful to meet you all and I am glad you had a nice time. I also appreciated your suggestions very much (I've ordered a crock-pot and the other items you suggested!) All feedback helps us to provide a better service and we hope you will visit here again.

Quiet and Well Equipped in a Beautiful Setting

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay. The place has everything you need need for your trip. Fully equipped kitchen, smartly decorated, comfortable beds and quality linens. The manager saw that our arrival went smoothly and checked back to make sure we were happy. The place is very dog friendly with a fenced in yard. Just a 5 minute drive to Sonoita for groceries and dining. No wi-fi or cable TV but our cell phone reception was good and the local TV reception excellent. Spent most afternoons on the back porch and enjoyed the sunsets. We will be back the next time thru the area.
