All the events and activities provided by Auburn University could keep you busy on any given day - Football, Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Soccer, Gymnastics, Tennis, Swimming, Equestrian, Music, Theater, special events and more. The University offers campus walking tours and locker room tours for FREE on the Fridays before home games! If you are an Alumni Association member -the Alumni 'tent' has been moved to the Alumni Center on College (4 blocks south of the apartment) for your complementary game-day snacks and tailgating experience.

The City of Auburn's Frank Brown Rec Center is 4 blocks away and offers a fitness center, indoor racquetball and indoor and outdoor basketball courts. The city has pools as well that are open May - August annually for $2/swimmer/day. Year round indoor open swim times are available at the university's Aquatic center.

The Auburn-Opelika Area has numerous golf courses all within a 15 min drive of the apartment.

For outdoor family activities (bird watching, hiking, nature playground, educational activities) check out the Forest Ecology Preserve about 4 miles up north College street. Try Chewalca State Park for swimming, canoeing, paddle boats, and freshwater fishing as well as hiking, camping and great new mountain biking trails just off Shell Toomer Parkway at exit 51 on I-85 about 15 minutes south of the apartment. My kids and I always go to the back side of the lake at the spillway which goes over a series of rocks and creates a scenic waterfall area.

The City has an indoor tennis center located on Richland Road that is available to use if they are not having a tournament or classes. You can always play at the outdoor courts located on Samford Avenue across from the high school.

If you wish to go to church while visiting Auburn First Baptist is across the street and Auburn United Methodist is a block and a half away. There are many other churches in town within 2 miles of the apartment.

The closest grocery stores are Kroger at Glenn and Dean and Publix at N College and East University Drive. Both are about a 5 minute drive from the apartment.

There is a new CVS downtown just a few block south of the apartment. If you need a Walgreen's it is located at Glenn and Dean. American Family Care is located on South College Street across from Walmart and is open 7 days a week until 6 pm. Moore's Mill Acute Care is open later at their Tiger Town location (10pm).

East Alabama Medical Center is the nearest hospital and is about 20 minutes away in Opelika just beyond the intersection of Opelika Road and Hwy 280.

If you need a dentist Dr Yount is located just past Mike and Ed's BBQ a block to the north of the apartment.

Banks and gas stations are pretty much found every block so they are easy to find and plentiful.

Apartment is not handicap accessible. Must be able to climb a flight of stairs as apartment is on 2nd floor.
Apartment is one of three on the second floor. Quiet hours are in effect daily from 11pm until 8am for the building but if it is an event weekend you can hear noise from College Street until wee hours of morning.
No large events or loud parties are allowed.
Commercial spaces are below apartment and renters are expected to be respectful to them and their customers.
Entry doors have key-less locks for security.
Security cameras are in use on the exterior of owners premises for apartment units, commercial tenants, roof and parking area.

  • These bathrooms have private entry from each bedroom and are the original 1928 subway tiles. The small walk-in showers have adjustable shower heads. Each bathroom has a hair dryer. Towels are provided as is a limited first aid kit. Enough toilet paper for personal use is provided but if you need some for rolling Toomer's please pack extra for that.

  • Each Bedroom has a queen size bed, a closet, and a dresser. They are decorated nicely and have wood blinds and dark shades to keep out light. Living room has a love seat with a twin size pull out bed. We also have a twin size roll-away available to sleep a total of 6 in beds. Two additional guests, kids in particular, would be more than comfortable on the fully reclining sofa and glider if necessary.

3 ISSUES to be aware of - Privacy - if you want privacy please close the blinds as it is as easy to see out as it is in. - Showers - they are small. They are original to the building and have been in use since 1928. The doorway opening on them is only 19". - Noise - The apartment is half a block from Toomer's, guests will hear the sounds from downtown. It will be more noticeable during big events. If you are sensitive please bring a white noise machine, a sleep app, or simply use the bathroom fans as background. If you expect peace and tranquility this location does not have it. That said, the apartment is well insulated with spray foam in walls that dampens noise and the bedrooms are located in the back half of the apartment away from the street.
