Relaxing country getaway on a scenic organic farm

  • 5 of 5

We had a great family gathering at the farm! Janet was very responsive and helpful. The wrap around porch added a lot of space to hang out in the Spring air. The short trek up the hill to the pond was fun and the fishing was a success. Even though it was close to the highway, it could not be heard from the farm, which added to the peaceful setting. There was a Walmart about 20 minutes away and dollar stores even closer, so we were able to get supplies as needed.

Not great for families with small children

  • 1 of 5

We were so excited to book this property during our first trip to Idlewild with our almost 2 & 4 year old this past weekend. That excitement rolled to a stop when we looked at the sleeping arrangements.

The main bedroom is separate from the other sleeping areas. In the other wing, there are two bedrooms and a landing with beds. The stairs are extremely steep. So steep that we knew our almost 4 year old wouldn't be able to walk down them on her own. There was no way to section them off at the top of the landing either.

The worst part was when you get on the landing area. There is an area of the floor that doesn't meet up to the railing. The railing is essentially 6-9 inches too far in creating a gap in the floor. If one of our kids were to walk in that area, they would have fallen through immediately and fallen 7-8 feet down. You can imagine what that would have led to.

We were terribly disappointed with this safety hazard. We were looking forward to our accommodations, but the concerns we had with the house left us on edge anytime we were there. Due to this, we had to sleep in the beds with our kids to ensure they wouldn't walk out of bed in the middle of the night and break their neck on the stairs.

The owner was very helpful with information before got there. I just wish she had told us that this property is not accommodating for families with small children.

Owner's Response: Oh dear, I am so sorry that you had an issue. There is a baby fence for the railing right at the top of the steps. Anyone with small children use it gladly, but it is rare that anyone needs it. Please always call me if you have any issues or questions. There was no need for this drama when I am a phone call away and my farm manager lives right across the road and is readily available. We want you to be comfortable and enjoy our farmhouse. The house is a historic log cabin built in the late 1700 - early 1800s. It certainly is a bit quirky but everyone loves the history and beauty of this amazing historic landmark organic farm.

Nice house, great location

  • 4 of 5

Super cute house, great location. Nice size master, 2 additional bedrooms with twin beds and 2 additional twin beds on the landing. One bathroom but worked fine with 7 adults. Nice wrap around porch. Limited pots and pans(not enough to feed 7 adults.) limited seating in the living room (couch and one chair). Didn't have satellite/cable (only got one channel) BUT there is Netflix! Grocery store is less than 2 miles and 7Springs was an easy 6 or so mile drive. We would definitely stay here again!

Family Ski Vacation

  • 4 of 5

The farm house was a great place for our annual family ski trip. we skied at 7 Springs and were no more than 10 minutes away. Very convenient. We had plenty of room and Janet checked in on us via test to make sure we had everything we needed. Very kind. Plenty of space for us. Only minor drawback was that the living room only had a couch and one chair. A couple more places to sit would be nice. Other than that, we enjoyed our time there and had another safe and successful family ski trip. Hope to visit again next year with more of our family.

Seven Springs Mountain Resort and Hidden Valley

SanaView Farms, which is the location of this historic farmhouse, is located in the Laurel Mountains which is a destination for many visitors all throughout the year. Many come to visit Seven Springs Mountain Resort, Hidden Valley, Fallingwater, Ohiopyle, Ligonier and Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and Spa, each of which are only a few miles away. With all of these great destinations within a short drive from the farm, there is so much to see and do.

The farm itself is a 52 acre historic landmark organic produce farm that butts up against a 3000 acre state forest. The buildings on the farm, which were all built in the 1800s, have been renovated to provide modern day comforts while maintaining their historic significance. The buildings on the farm include the log cabin farmhouse, springhouse, bunkhouse and beautifully restored historic barn which is used for weddings and events. The entire property is fed by natural spring water which goes through a UV filter before feeding every building on the property.

Great hiking can be enjoyed on the farm or within the 3000 acre state forest which extends the back yard of the farm.

Toward the back of the property before entering the state forest, there is a large fresh water pond for swimming or picnics.

You must come to visit and experience the Laurel Mountains and there is no better place to relax and enjoy yourself than at SanaView Farms.
