Why Tom Eisner chose Rochester

Rochester is a surprisingly beautiful town you'd never guess is only a 10-minute drive from the retreat. Here's some helpful info about Rochester from a local site:

Just walk out your front door, past stunning open fields with distant views, and into the Green Mountain National Forest to enjoy miles of hiking, mountain biking and snowmobile trails; or snowshoe under a full moon on a silent, crystal clear winter night.

This small town (population 1,139) has big town offerings, including:

Restaurants, cafes and a bakery

Bike shop

Exclusive art gallery

Pottery studio and shop

Vibrant community theater,

Well-stocked grocer

Several charming inns

Local meat, dairy, vegetable, and berry farms

The Green Mountain National Forest Visitor Center

Arts and culture thrive in Rochester with festivals, theater productions, concerts and lecture series including:

The Green Mountain Suzuki Institute

The Rochester Chamber Music Society

The Harvest Fair

The White River Valley Players

4th of July Parade

And many more creative one-time arts and community events

Many residents are artists, writers, and professors. One stroll around the historic town square will no doubt have you convinced that you’ve arrived in one of the most beautiful small towns in America.

Clean, comfortable, quiet

  • 5 of 5

We (group of ~10, corporate retreat) had a fantastic overnight stay here! The property is beautiful and serene, and we were greeted with warmth and a pleasant tour before being left to our own devices. The Inn is usually a writer's retreat, and each bedroom is named for a literary figure, which everyone enjoyed.

With a fire in the fireplace and 14 acres of snowy fields surrounding us, this was the perfect location for a team meeting. The next day, we were close enough to Sugarbush/MRG that everyone was able to have a leisurely cup of coffee before heading to the slopes for some skiing.

Would eagerly come back again.

Perfect VT Farmhouse for a large group

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful old farmhouse that very comfortably fit 15 of us. We especially loved the large dining room for meals all together, the living room with fireplace (and plenty of firewood) for games and conversation, and the spacious and comfy bedrooms. It was better than we expected! Definitely off the beaten path which we appreciated, but only 30min from skiing. Tip- bring bottled water, since the tap water had a strong iron taste.

5+ Stars - Amazing house, beautiful property

  • 5 of 5

My party and I had the opportunity to stay in this house for our annual ski trip. The home is beautiful and easily accommodated our large group. The property around the house is breathtaking and definitely provides the privacy needed for a comfortable getaway. Every detail in the house has been carefully thought out to make your stay enjoyable, from the individually themed rooms after different writers, to providing all the basic essentials (e.g. extra space heaters, slippers, towels, etc). The owner is very responsive and the property manager lives nearby in case anything is needed. The home is no doubt 5+ stars, and we're already thinking about coming back next year!

Perfect for a ski getaway

  • 5 of 5

This house had a true Vermont feel and there was more than enough space for our group of 20. We loved the house and property and would definitely recommend it to others looking to have a ski getaway in the Green Mountains.
