You simply can't get closer to the water! A welcoming and fun island-style home boasting gorgeous ocean views and rustic charm. The house is open and airy with a large veranda, gazebos, plenty of outdoor seating, pool, hot tub and direct ocean access.

This very much loved and lived in family beach house home of 36 years is now available to rent for those seeking a relaxed and laid back holiday. It has the most stunning ocean views with the beautiful Bahamian water right at your feet!

It boasts an airy and open plan interior with a cozy living area, comfy sofas, a bar w/ stools and a rustic dining table. Large sliding doors lead onto a large veranda and gazebo where there is plenty of seating - perfect for relaxing, watching sunsets and lighting up the BBQ! You literally can't get a better backdrop.

This is very much a family beach house, it is old and very lived in and worn and has its unique various quirks. It is by no means smart, "shabby chic" is a more apt description! We live bang on the sea so that cheeky salt is a real killer, we can and do get battered by great waves at times and the maintenance is relentless and sometimes we can't keep up with it when there are back to back bookings , along with the usual wear and tear inside and out, so please note if you are looking for 5 star perfection in every tiny detail and you want shiny, new and pristine then this is not for you, but if you are looking for somewhere full of charm, warmth and a much loved rustic character where you can focus on the more important things in life like putting your feet up and relaxing, saluting the sun and sea, preferably with a nice long cool drink in hand, then hopefully this is the one for you! The house is totally functional and clean though I am the first one to say not perfect in some of the "finer" details but we love it the way it is, including the "distressed" bits of furniture plus many personal effects like photos etc along with all its other perhaps "eclectic" decor! (and imperfections!). With regards to these factors, it is reflected in the price compared to similar "smart" properties! However, we are constantly upgrading, it's a continuous labour of love thanks to that unforgiving salt on our doorstep that eats through everything, and of course, the continuous stream of visitors passing through resulting in constant maintenance (but much appreciated"!)!

I would also like to add and clarify that this our family home and where we live when it's not rented so there are drawers and cupboards throughout that contain our personal belongings, but ample space has been made available for you and we ask that anywhere else is not accessed, it's impossible to lock or block everywhere.

- Master: Top floor en-suite with king bed, dressing & vanity area, and an ocean-front balcony with uninterrupted views as far as the eye can see.

- 2nd: Top floor: lovely airy bright room with queen bed plus 2 single substantial foldaway beds, and en-suite bathroom.

- 3rd: Lower sea floor level bedroom with king bed which can be separated into 2 singles with shared bathroom. Ocean view.

-4th: Lower sea floor level bedroom with king bed and same shared bathroom and a double pull out sofa bed.

-5th: newly resurrected good size family room with a pair of single bunk beds plus single futon, small bathroom with shower very close by.

All bedrooms have a tv and split unit air conditioners.

The house sleeps 10 very comfortably with "real" beds, but with the extra foldaway beds plus futon, will sleep a maximum of 14.

Island-style cottage kitchen w/ updated and quality appliances, including: large gas stove and double oven, a French door fridge, dishwasher and plenty of kitchen ware for those cooking enthusiasts! You are very welcome to use any existing condiments if any are left after previous guests!

Toilet tissue, paper towel, washing up liquid etc are initially supplied but it is up to the guests to replenish for themselves if need be. You are welcome to use any charcoal for the grill if it's around otherwise up to you to provide if needed.

Surrounding the pool is a charming courtyard/patio with a cabana and a large teak table and chairs for al fresco dining, comfy outdoor lounge furniture including long chairs, pool & hot tub, with steps down to the little beach area which is covered at high tide, and the beautiful ocean - perfect for snorkelling or just floating about catching the rays. We provide snorkelling gear and floats plus a couple of kayaks and a paddle board and plenty long cushions to lay on the sea wall and catch those rays and breeze!

There is a secure parking lot with an electric gate, and can fit up to 3 cars if you were to hire. Further amenities included are cable TV, internet (wireless too) laundry and A/C (but PLEASE ONLY keep this on when you are in the rooms, electricity in this little country is exorbitant and we appreciate guests who are conscientious, as we all are who live here and you must make sure all relevent doors are shut otherwise rooms will not cool properly!).

Housekeeper optional but if staying 7 days or longer, one will be included if desired for one day week.

Trustworthy pool man comes Monday and Thursday mornings.

Gardener comes Monday and Thursday morning to do general tidy up outside.

I will be there to welcome you and familiarize you with everything you need to know, including the quirks! There will be a house manual for your reference plus I will also be available during your stay should you need advise or help on anything at all - I will do my utmost to help you have a wonderful holiday in our treasured home and country! I can also arrange taxi pickups from the airport, please inquire.

Las Cabrillas is centrally located on West Bay Street and is an approximate 15 minute drive from the airport. The closest sandy beach is a 3min walk or you can paddle down to on a float! and a bit further, about a 15mn. walk, is the famous Arawak Cay, or Fish Fry, where you can get a taste of local delicacies, such as conch salad and sky juice. We're a 5 min drive to downtown where the Straw Market and duty free shops are, as well as various bars and restaurants; 5 mins away from the brand new Baha Mar Resort with the Caribbean's largest Casino and a large variety of fantastic restaurants and luxury duty free shops; we are about a 10 to 20mn drive to Paradise Island, depending on time of day and traffic, which is home to the famous Atlantis Resort. PLease make sure you are familiar with the location of the house so there is no misunderstanding!

We are located halfway along the island which is only 27 miles long and just about nowhere of interest is more than a 20 minute drive away!

Easy on-street access to taxis and buses. Buses, known as jitneys, pick you up and drop you from where you stand on the road, and only costs $1.50 wherever you want to go.

There is also an alarm system and once inside the property, you are totally enclosed and secure.

Other Things to Note:

All those staying at our home will be wholly responsible for their own safety. There is no fence or barrier around the pool so access is very easy - children need to be watched and we do not accept responsibility for injuries, including the steps down to the sea and whilst swimming in the ocean.

I would like to stress that this is our home, not just a pure rental investment, so would really appreciate that it is treated with a ton of TLC and the respect it deserves, and left in a respectable condition!!

Please make sure that all beach towels are returned with you to the house if taken to a beach or on an excursion and snorkels, masks, floats etc are kept an eye on if left on rocks or steps whilst swimming, they have been known to have swept off to sea! This includes the paddles for the kayaks and paddle board.

And I would also like to stress how important it is to turn off a/cs when not occupying bedrooms and the central in living area and kitchen at night and when out all day, as well as making sure all relevant doors are closed when on, they tend to burn out otherwise!

Once again I must reiterate how this is our home, which means it will still have many personal effects like photos etc. in place, which all past guests have said how much they've enjoyed browsing, and please don't forget, if you are looking for absolute perfection in every detail, then you will want to look elsewhere, but you can be assured that it will be cleaned to its best ability and welcoming!!

However, if there is something not included that you wish for, I will do my utmost to try and provide, as long as it is within reason of course! I can arrange for a taxi to ferry you around if wished and according to the number in your group, price to be arranged between the driver and guest!

We are so central that a car is not necessary as taxis or buses can be hailed on the side of the road but having said this, we would suggest renting one if you wish to explore the island further afield than the regular attractions.

If the house is a last minute booking, ie: a month prior to arrival date, then a full payment will be required on booking. Rates are liable to change until a confirmed booking is made.

Please make sure that all beach towels are returned after any boating or beach excursions, including masks, flippers, snorkels etc, and also, please don't leave masks, floats etc. on rocks by beach as they are likely to be swept off by the sea!!

Return all extra bedding etc to where it came from if used plus please put furniture and wiring back in place if rearranged during your stay!

Please note that all persons staying at the house are responsible for their own safety including swimming in sea or pool. There is no barrier or fence around the pool or gate for the top veranda steps so young children must be watched.

We also reserve the right to access the property with no notice and if there are more than the allocated and/or agreed upon number of guests inhabiting it, then we also reserve the right to evict the entire group - we most certainly hope this situation never arises!

We urge our guests to try and conserve energy as much as possible and please turn off bedroom air conditioners and fans when not in use, including the central and kitchen a/c (both of which need to be turned off once gone to bed), the rooms cool quickly once back on! Make sure ALL DOORS ARE CLOSED while in use, it's incredible how this does not happen and therefore all cool air gets lost!!!
