About Anne Vanderwarker
I'm a floral designer and lecturer on flower arranging and my husband is a writer/novelist with three books published. I spent year at Centenary and Tony went to Yale for two years before going in the Peace Corps. We have lived in Virginia for over twenty years.
Anne Vanderwarker purchased this House in 1998
Why Anne Vanderwarker chose Keswick
My family has lived in Virginia for generations. My great grandfather was mayor of Richmond and my mom grew up on a farm just up the road. My folks retired here and lived close by so Keswick runs in my blood. We are longtime members of the Keswick community and have worked hard to preserve its beauty.
What makes this House unique
The rural countryside surrounding our property is gorgeous with horse farms lining the Virginia Scenic Byway and the Southwest Mountains as a backdrop. Our farm is historic, dating back to 1730 with a land grant from King George II and is in conservation easement as are most of the farms along the road.
Pool / Spa
A definite 10!
We stayed July 28-30, and had a wonderful time. The spacious house and expansive, rambling grounds were a perfect choice for our group of 11.
The view, no matter which way you looked, was tranquil and relaxing. Between swimming in the pool, fishing in the pond, feeding the horse and donkey, and generally enjoying grilling, walking and playing outdoors, we couldn't have had a more perfect time!
They were wonderful guests. Very neat and tidy as a group.
It was wonderful!
We had plenty of kitchen items (e.g., plates, bowls, cutlery) for a large group. The property is lovely- we especially loved visiting the sweet and friendly horses to feed them apple slices! We hung out on the back porch and loved the pool- perfect temperature and lots of fun floaties. Overall, it was exactly what we needed! Anne was very helpful answering my questions leading up to the visit as well.
Thanks, glad you had a good time!
Perfect Home For Group in Keswick
The property and Anne were lovely. Our group had a great time walking around on the grounds, feeding the horses apples, playing with our dogs and grilling in the backyard. It is close to Charlottesville, close to wine country and a ton of breweries. Great spot for a large group.
Great place for large group!
We had a group together for a wine tour over the weekend and the house was great to call home base!
Beautiful home, great location
We had a great time here -- it's a beautiful property with tons of space and a great house. Highly recommended!
A Beautiful Retreat!
Our family stayed at this beautiful house while celebrating our daughter's wedding. Very spacious house for our family to relax and retreat! Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms and very clean and well maintained, although the interior walls could use some fresh paint! We enjoyed the pictures and photography. I loved the retro kitchen--very 1950's! I found it to be adequately supplied but did not do any cooking. There was enough seating for our family but not much extra furniture. We didn't have the time to enjoy the pool but looked very inviting. My husband and I took a long walk around the property the morning of our departure---found a lovely little garden and lots of areas to explore. Enjoyed meeting Rudy (horse) and Jethro (donkey). Only wish we had a little more time to relax there!!
Wineries abound in the area. Monticello and Ashlawn/Highland are nearby, Montpelier is a thirty-minute drive, Jefferson's University of Virginia is a must-see, Keswick Hall right down the street is a world-class resort and the Skyline Drive through the Blue Ridge is close by.
