About Anne Vanderwarker

I'm a floral designer and lecturer on flower arranging and my husband is a writer/novelist with three books published. I spent year at Centenary and Tony went to Yale for two years before going in the Peace Corps. We have lived in Virginia for over twenty years.

Anne Vanderwarker purchased this house in 1998

Why Anne Vanderwarker chose Keswick

My family has lived in Virginia for generations. My great grandfather was mayor of Richmond and my mom grew up on a farm just up the road. My folks retired here and lived close by so Keswick runs in my blood. We are longtime members of the Keswick community and have worked hard to preserve its beauty.

What makes this house unique

The rural countryside surrounding our property is gorgeous with horse farms lining the Virginia Scenic Byway and the Southwest Mountains as a backdrop. Our farm is historic, dating back to 1730 with a land grant from King George II and is in conservation easement as are most of the farms along the road.

A definite 10!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed July 28-30, and had a wonderful time. The spacious house and expansive, rambling grounds were a perfect choice for our group of 11.

The view, no matter which way you looked, was tranquil and relaxing. Between swimming in the pool, fishing in the pond, feeding the horse and donkey, and generally enjoying grilling, walking and playing outdoors, we couldn't have had a more perfect time!

A Beautiful Retreat!

  • 4 of 5

Our family stayed at this beautiful house while celebrating our daughter's wedding. Very spacious house for our family to relax and retreat! Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms and very clean and well maintained, although the interior walls could use some fresh paint! We enjoyed the pictures and photography. I loved the retro kitchen--very 1950's! I found it to be adequately supplied but did not do any cooking. There was enough seating for our family but not much extra furniture. We didn't have the time to enjoy the pool but looked very inviting. My husband and I took a long walk around the property the morning of our departure---found a lovely little garden and lots of areas to explore. Enjoyed meeting Rudy (horse) and Jethro (donkey). Only wish we had a little more time to relax there!!

Family Christmas at Upfront Cape Cod in Keswick

  • 5 of 5

Our family of eight thoroughly enjoyed our 4-night Christmas stay at the Upfront Cape Cod in beautiful Keswick, VA, near Charlottesville. Annie and Tony were gracious hosts. Their house is lovely with plenty of room and made our family Christmas gathering a memorable one. We are originally from the Charlottesville area and enjoyed our return visit. Keswick was a beautiful setting for our 2016 Christmas.

Keswick countryside

  • 5 of 5

This home has plenty of space, large dining room table for the family, extra sleeper sofas for the kids and a really cool vintage kitchen. It was a short drive to Charlottesville for a family football weekend. But the best thing of all, were the horses! Our children LOVED feeding Chip carrots and apples and running around the large yard. Thank you for such a comfortable stay!
