About the property

Tranquil Casita in Tano West, Southwestern Skies, Sweeping View of the Sangres

This one-bedroom one-bath 860 sf casita is located in the hills northwest of Santa Fe, in an area of million dollar homes known as Tano Road. The casita is one of two houses on five acres located at the end of Camino Ladera. Both houses are well-situated to allow for privacy and to take full advantage of the incredible stillness and quiet this area affords.

As a seasoned traveler, you know Santa Fe, and you come here often. You make your pilgrimages to your favorite spots, The Shed or Tomasitas, and every year you add new favorites -- say, Vinaigrette and Arroyo Vinho. You've stayed in town, but lately have found it to be a bit hectic, and lacking in the almost mystical "space" that you have come to associate with the mystique of northern New Mexico.

This casita, in the hills of Tano West, provides that space. Just a 15 minute drive from the hubbub of the plaza to the sky and stars and quiet of Tano. Here, you will find that magical "space."

If you choose to have a morning with breakfast on the patio, the outdoor seating area basks in the panorama of the Sangre de Cristo mountains.

Relaxing for a few hours before the museum visit? The interior is bathed in the natural light for which New Mexico is famous. Skylights, traditional brick flooring, white walls and beamed ceilings enhance the clean, simple space.

Picked up some fabulous organic produce and meats from La Montanita Co-op? Grill on the patio and enjoy the fully stocked kitchen. Curl up on the couch and choose a good movie or two, rejuvenating yourself for the next day spent taking in the full ambiance and impressions of our lovely "city of holy faith." We understand what draws you to this amazing place, and we look forward to supporting your stay here.

Beautiful, but furnishings were lacking.

  • 3 of 5

Beautiful casita on the outskirts of Santa Fe. I had forgotten to leave this review awhile back. The rug sheds and gets on everything. The bedroom is not heated and gets very cold at night. The sofa isn't very comfortable (you can feel the futon springs). If the furnishings were upgraded, we'd stay here again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying in our beautiful casita! It is indeed a lovely spot located in a gorgeous setting. In the year and a half since your visit, we've obtained several new furniture pieces, replaced the rug and installed a heat source in the bedroom. We always appreciate our guests' feedback, especially if it is timely and we are given an opportunity to respond appropriately.

Wonderful stay in beautiful surroundings

We absolutely loved the casita and the fantastic views. It was very private, very peaceful and the casita was well equipped for all our needs and nicely designed. We can highly recommend it!

Wonderful property!!

  • 5 of 5

The casita is tucked away in a beautiful area. The inside is adorable with everything you would need for a nice stay. The bed is very comfortable and we loved seeing the start through the skylight above it. While there is satellite tv, we spent our time there on the back porch enjoying the beautiful view and changing colors on the mountains. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to get away and have a cute place to stay, but still be close to town to enjoy all the amazing food and art galleries!

Wonderful stay for a few days in a well kept and well located casita. Wonderful views of mountains and just what the family (dogs included) needed. Definitely recommended and hope to return again before too long!

Peaceful gem.

  • 5 of 5

The description is right: tranquil and beautiful views. My husband, son and I so enjoyed our quiet stay here! The host was very kind to leave us wood and kindling for the wood stove and the setting is absolutely gorgeous. We were also able to take our dog on some nice walks and go on some lovely runs on the surrounding quiet roads (not too many cars).

Thank you for a lovely stay in Santa Fe! We will be back.

This is a lovely, light-filled casita nestled in the foothills north of Santa Fe. The living room window looks out onto snow-peaked mountains, and the whole atmosphere of this area en route to the Santa Fe Opera is one of calm and natural beauty. The house itself is modern, meticulously updated, and comfortable. The owner/manager is most receptive and gracious. I come to Santa Fe twice a year, but from now I will always choose this place. Of course you need a car!
