My family loved this spot. Midway between PB and Mission Beach spots, great for bike rides to either. GREAT sunset views. Only complaints are: parking too tight; and the upper deck furniture is old and worn-could be so much nicer with a few hundred in new furniture there!

Location, Location. Location

  • 4 of 5

You couldn't ask for a better place to stay in San Diego for the location. We loved being on Mission Beach. It was a very relaxing place to stay.

The beds were very comfortable. There was plenty of space for the seven of us. The master bedroom is very large and both bathrooms (as have been mentioned before) were very nice. The hardwood floors could use some sanding and resurfacing but I can understand how hard it would be too keep a property in top shape this close to the ocean.

We fought sand and found ourselves sweeping up a lot. Had there been an outdoor shower like the neighbors had, we would have not been fighting the sand so much.

As was mentioned in a previous review the parking for the unit is very, very tight. We had difficulty navigating our Honda minivan into the space provided. The laundry was very convenient in the garage. The folks renting the downstairs unit only had one car so it was easy to get into the garage to do the laundry.

We would gladly stay in this location again. It's so close to a grocery store we found ourselves walking everywhere rather than trying to move the car more than necessary. On day we did move the car to go up the coast a bit and when we returned someone from another unit was blocking the drive and we had to go search for them to move their car so we could get back into our parking space.

You simply cannot ask for a better location!

This place was fantastic, the location is perfect. We rented a car for our stay and used it twice. Everything you need is within walking distance or simply rent a beach cruiser within 2 blocks of the house. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that we had some appliance issues when we first arrived but Ron's right hand gal had new appliances delivered within a day and a half. The parking is super skinny so hopefully you drive a mini Cooper.

We rented the house for 4 days during spring break for my daughter and 6 of her friends from college

  • 3 of 5

There were some issues that needed to be addressed. The access code that was given to me by the assistant was the wrong number. The real estate office that the owner of the property was just down the street. I walked down there to see if anyone was in the office but no luck. Unable to reach the assistant for over an hour when I decided to go for another walk to get some coffee and I notice the image of the owner and his phone number were plastered as an advertisement on a bus bench. I called him and he answered immediately and gave me his personal code to access the beach house. He was very apologetic and promise me not to give out that number to anyone. The house was occupied 8 women who go through a lot of toilet paper. There was no extra in the house. In addition to running out of toilet paper they ran out of paper towels and trash bags within the first 2 nights. We celebrated my daughter's 21th birthday there but we were unable to find a bottle opener for a mildly cold beer, more on that. We also noticed that there were some maintenance issues specifically multiple electrical outlets did not work. The oven did not work. The garbage disposal did not work and the refrigerator although set on its lowest settings barely kept things cold and when we arrived the ice in the ice trays was one giant piece which meant that the ice had melted together because it wasn't cold enough. I suggested to the assistant that they keep a supplies of paper towels and trash bags in the garage so she doesn't have to waste her time making extra trips out to the house to resupply. The girls enjoy their stay most of them are not from California so this was their first experience of staying down at the beach. I would not recommend this place for 8 adults because the living room only has enough seating for 4, but then again if you're at the beach you're most likely outside, but it's a little cramp at night. I noticed on some of the other reviews that my complaints seem to be redundant

Great location, house needs to be better supplied.

  • 3 of 5

The location is perfect!! Having the beach right there makes for a perfect get away. Mission beach is a great location- very close to the airport, Sea World, the zoo, Old Town and many cool coffee shops and places to eat!!! The house is older. The bedroooms are a great size and have comfy beds. We were a group of eight with 3 small kids and 1 tween. I don’t think it would be big enough if we had 4 teens with us. The home was clean and bathrooms are updated. The view of the beach/ ocean from the home and deck is amazing!!! The kitchen was severely lacking- when we arrived there weren’t enough plates, bowls or cups for our group. Our contact person was great as they brought over the supplies within an hour of my text regarding this issue. There were other basic supplies missing (bottle opener, scissors, pen, dish clothes - there was a new sponge), not enough towels and the coffee maker’s use was questionable as the base was burned. We had an issue with the garage opener and no early morning response to that issue. Parking is pretty tight but seems to be at many places in that area. Overall we did love being on the beach. If the home was better supplied with the basics I would increase my rating!!! We appreciated that supplies were brought to us and the person we dealt with was great but the home should be sufficiently supplied to meet the group size before we arrived.

Perfect Spot on The Beach-Love to Come Back

  • 4 of 5

The location for this property is awesome. Directly above the boardwalk and within walking distance of most anything in Pacific or Mission Beach. We had great nights and days out on the deck. People watching, enjoying drinks and food. House itself was perfect for what we needed. Beds were comfortable. Small but adequate kitchen. Both bathrooms are nice and look to have been updated.

The reason I did not give it 5 stars are because there a few things with this place to be aware of. Parking space is very small and my car barely fit(all passengers had to get out before parking). You had to be very careful backing out of the spot and you had no room for error. Stove and cooktop are from the 1970s, adequate but could use updating. Grill on deck is quite worn and could use replacing. It did work fine and We did manage to grill some steaks one night. Those were just a few nitpicks....Overall this place is great! Would love to come back again.
