It is a Cayman law that every rental must provide a "meeter/greeter" person and that person here is George. He will meet you when you arrive and open the doors and give you a tour of the property. Any questions you may have he will be there to assist not only when you arrive but throughout the week. George is also the property manager at Villas Pappagallo so he knows almost everything about the property and the island! Need a rental car? Talk to my friend Oraine at Budget across the street from the airport. Shop his rate and compare but tell him you heard about Budget from Pappagallo #6.

Head out to the dock and check out the ocean, take a walk down the beach past Barkers State Park, star gaze at night, check out the swimming pool or walk 37 steps to the beach!

Decisions, much for nothing to do!!

About Greg

I first came to Grand Cayman from my hometown of Chicago over 25 years ago to scuba dive. Since then I have fallen in love with the beautiful island, the people and all the underwater fish that I made friends with! Currently I reside in Chicago by Soldier Field, and now I have become the owner of a wonderful, get-away-from-it-all island condo at Villas Pappagallo.

Greg purchased this condo in 2014

Why Greg chose West Bay

Villas Pappagallo is a special place. So calm, relaxing, and quiet. There is no noise from traffic but maybe you'll hear a rooster crowing and if you listen closely you may be able to hear a few parrots off in the distance squawking about something very important. A beautiful blue ocean greets you every day when you open the blackout curtains and start your day with bright sunshine and an ocean view. You have no choice but to look out over the sea and palm trees swaying in the breeze from this prime location. Listen to the ocean waves on the front porch washing up on the shore. Walk to the beach just steps out your front door and relax enjoying beauty and tranquility!

What makes this condo unique

Quiet. Nicely groomed grounds with a beach atmosphere is what Villas Pappagallo is all about. Getting away from it all but yet still in touch with the rest of the world. Walk down the beach to Barkers State Park, right next door and discover what treasures the sea has washed up on shore. Did I mention quiet?

Really nice, well appointed condo!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here along with our elementary aged daughter for a week and really enjoyed it. Everything was clean and new, especially in the kitchen (which I loved). After being there a week, I realized how much we had overpacked. Between the washer/dryer and the beach towels provided, we probably could have gotten by with a backpack for each of us. Also, after tiring ourselves out at the beach during the day, the smart TV was a welcome evening distraction (where we could use our Netflix and Sling accounts to watch programming and the Olympics). Marji, the manager, and Greg, the owner, were responsive and helpful. The things I would advise potential visitors of are the following: 1) the community is VERY quiet, bordering on retirement village quiet. Worked for us because we were not looking for a lot of loud, drunk people in teeny bathing suits. 2) the pool and hot tub are not heated. My kiddo didn’t care at all and she and the one other kid there played and swam well into the evening (was way to cold for mommy).

3) you probably want a car if you stay here... it’s about 10 minutes to most of the nicer beaches and things to do. 4) Lastly, don’t believe all the ratings for the restaurants. I was disappointed by Pappagallo, Alfresco’s and West Bay diner (though the hubs liked West Bay he had breakfast, I had a sandwich). However, we LOVED The Catch - the Red Snapper and burgers were awesome. (Andrea, was our waiter 2x and he was tremendous!). Kaibo Yacht Club, by Rum Point, was also very good and tables right next to a beach where the kiddos can play in the sand and water.

Wonderful, Wonderful remote beach location!!!

  • 5 of 5

If you enjoy a quiet beach this is your spot! It is certainly the main attraction and beautiful! Many times we had the beach to ourselves despite our visit in December season. This condo has one of the best spots in the condo complex, just steps from the shore. Lots of nice chaise lounges, chairs and tables for guests to use at the beach out in the sun or under shade of the many palms that line the beach. Pool area was also very clean and nice with movable shade umbrellas and plenty of loungers. Hot tub was not hot but hey- who needs that when you're at the beach!!!

Condo is nicely decorated (modern/casual) and extremely clean! spotless, luxury white bath towels, spotless silverware and dishes/cookware, comfortable bed - just like home. Well supplied condiments, spices, etc that we added plenty to - pay it forward! All appliances were clean and welcoming -Coffee maker is of the 12 cup pot variety, blender and icemaker, dishwasher, convenient stacking washer/dryer in kitchen.

We found eating out on the island to be more expensive than the states so we were glad to have brought a whole suitcase of food, found a grocery a short drive away and enjoyed all our self prepared breakfast, lunches and a few dinners. With the money we saved, we'll be able to fund our return trip! We totally recommend this great condo.

Beautiful condo in gorgeous quiet setting

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from staying 5 nights at Villa Pappagallo unit 6. The condo itself is beautiful and very comfortable. We went to Foster's grocery a few times and ate most of our meals in the condo. The grounds of Villa Pappagallo are so quiet and peaceful. We were often the only people at the beach or the pool. If you plan to go in the water, bring water shoes as the beach is very rocky. Nothing was too far of a drive - 20 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes from seven mile beach. A few days we went to the beach in Seven Mile where the water is much clearer and calmer and the bottom is sandy. Overall a great place to stay!

Kitchen had no provisions other than salt and pepper Furniture was dirty and in need of a good cleaning This was very disappointing as we had a great expirence the first time we stayed here in May 2016 Location was great and beach is wonderful Just hope the owner takes note of problems and gets ahead of them before the next guest stays there

Owner's Response: Sorry to hear that you think the unit has problems but the only valid point in this review is the cable went out and the drain in the tub was slow. Other than that, all untrue. This bad review even made the housekeeper cry! She said "why do people write things that are untrue and why didn't he contact us about these problems instead of writing a bad review?" Light bulbs were not burned out. There is a wall switch that operates the bedroom lights. Fan is not broke. Again, there is a switch on the wall in addition to the pull chain. Furniture is dirty. Untrue. Furniture is fine. Did you mean indoor or outdoor furniture? Maybe there was some salt on the outdoor furniture but without being specific, I don't know what is meant by this. There is nothing to clean. Only salt and pepper. There are no food amenities that go along with the unit nor is that written anywhere that "provisions are supplied". Cable did go out. This happens on island and it happens a lot less on Grand Cayman. Most of the time cable works fine but when it goes out the cable company doesn't respond quickly. They are on island time. It did get fixed eventually but the cable was out in the West Bay, not just my unit. We did what we could do to fix it but it was out of our hands. Even if you stayed at the Ritz Carlton, the cable was out. To address this problem further and be proactive I have added Apple TV to give more viewing options when something like this happens again. The unit is in great shape and has constant attention given to it by the cleaning and management team. If this unit was in such disrepair I don't know why you didn't contact us immediately to address these issues. It was very unfair to write a bad review like this, but I guess it makes you feel good to write an untrue review. Again, contact the owner as soon as something is wrong. Don't go home and then complain; give us a fair chance to address issues you may have. Thank you, Parrot6 Team

Excellent home away from home

  • 5 of 5

This place Parrot 6 is just perfect. New kitchen appliances, great floor, very comfortable king sized bed. It is wonderful to have breakfast out on the covered patio every morning. I didn't even miss the newspaper! The resident rooster comes by to say hi every morning. The property is wonderfully maintained.

Great Unit. Great Location

  • 5 of 5

My wife, myself and our 2 year old son visited Villa Papagallo in Dec 2015 for Christmas week and loved it. We had been to Grand Cayman many times and always stayed on Five Mile. The unit was renovated beautifully and it was great to have a full kitchen and washer dryer. We visited the big grocery store and made breakfast each morning and sat outside on the patio. The beach was a great place for our son to dig sand castles, fun around and be a 2 year old boy as the beach was nice and quite.....

Experience the local flavor. Get away from the noise, traffic, crowds, bright lights and the hustle bustle of Seven Mile Beach. As soon as you exit the Tibbets Highway you realize that you have really made it to the island! Off the highway there is about a 2 mile ride through West Bay to Villas Pappagallo #6. Drive past the locals and get a real taste of island living. See the real people of Cayman that have lived in this old neighborhood many generations. At their homes you may see private gardens where they grow vegetables and fruit trees; some even have cows and horses on their land if you can spot them. There are a few local shops along the winding roads through this Cayman neighborhood. Careful driving....there are no sidewalks so people share the street with cars as they visit neighbors or walk to the market. There is even a local artist along the way with artwork for sale along the ride to Villas Pappagallo.

There is the West Bay Bicycle Loop that is an optional activity. Rent bikes and take the tour on two wheels. This is a nice way to slow down the pace, get a little exercise and see the sights up close. Maybe you'll get lucky enough to have an iguana pop out of the bushes and say hello to you! The chickens and roosters are allowed to run free on the island so watch out for those "bird brains!"

There is horseback riding within walking distance of Parrot 6. (Pappagallo means parrot) They are both run by independent companies that are located along the ocean, in the state park, just east of the unit.

There is also Barkers State Park located right next door to Villas Pappagallo property. Hike, bike or camp in this state park which is undeveloped but accessible for public use.

Pappagallo Restaurant is walking distance across the street. This restaurant speaks for itself. Not much needed to say about one of the top rated eating establishments on the island. Not affiliated with Villas Pappagallo, just built at the same time by the same builders.

The Turtle Farm is a few minute drive.

Cobalt Coast Dive Resort has Divetech Dive Shop based there which located on the ocean about a 5 minute drive west.

There are several shore dive spots along the ocean.

Turtle Farm is close by.

Hell, Grand Cayman is located in West Bay.

Dolphin discovery is also in West Bay too.
