Things you might want to include.....

  • 3 of 5

We have stayed at many VRBO properties. This condo was nice, clean, and convenient. However, it didn’t seem very welcoming. At other properties where we stayed in the past, there was a welcoming basket with almonds, crackers, protein bars, etc. Also bottled water and coffee/tea/ sugar. This property had nothing! After traveling all day it is nice to come “home” to at least a bottle of water! Also we were expected to (and we did) take our own trash out when we left!

Please consider adding these very affordable amenities that make a word of difference.

Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Kelso

Great Apartment

  • 3 of 5

Our first few nights were awesome and then Thursday night some kind of domestic violence situation started next door at 2:30 a.m. when the residents arrived home. This continued for about another hour of shouting and yelling. Friday night was the worst. It sounded as if a large party with loud music was going on (in a different unit down the hall) that started about 7:30 p.m. and continued until 3:30 a.m. The apartment itself was wonderful. Great size, nice kitchen, and clean. The location was very convenient to Dupont Circle and a short walk to the subway. I'm not sure we would stay here again due to the noise problem.

We would rent this apartment again

  • 5 of 5

I was in DC for a GW campus visit with our son. There was far more room in this apartment than we would have had in a hotel room at 2/3 to 1/2 the cost of a hotel room. The apartment was clean and the windows are on the west wall meaning you get some nice nature light.

There are numerous small restaurants and bars within blocks. The Washington Hilton is two blocks to the west.

A Metro bus line to the GW campus stops less than 3 blocks from the apartment. (Although we found out the buses returning from GW to this area are discontinued early in the evenings.) From this same stop you can catch a ride to DuPont Circle for restaurants or the Metro red train line.

The floors in the apartment above this unit do squeak when the neighbors are moving around. A few times I could hear them speaking loudly. A light sleeper would likely benefit from a pair of ear plugs. We were fine.

We didn't use the kitchen or washer/dryer. Parking appears it would be very challenging.

I liked the neighborhood and felt safe walking around in the evening. We would rent this apartment again.

Perfect size for 2 people!

  • 4 of 5

Only complaint is the thin floors. We could hear above us and I know they could hear us walking below. Other than that it was perfect! If you are new to DC I recommend learning the metro first. Once we figured it out it was easy. There are grocery stores close plus restaurants.

Delightful DC Stay

  • 5 of 5

We have visited DC many times before and always stayed in hotels. This trip we decided to try an apartment with a kitchen where we could prepare meals. Dupont Adams Morgan Chic Haven was a perfect choice for my wife and me. It was well-appointed with all that we needed to make our stay feel like home. The unit was very clean and well maintained, bed and pillows very comfortable, and the kitchen had the basics necessary for preparing meals, although we did not cook in the unit while we were there because there were so many choices for eating out. The neighborhood was quiet and on several nights when returning after dark, we felt safe. Within a few blocks there are restaurants, coffee shops, and a lively after hours scene. We prefer to take public transportation whenever possible, and Chic Haven is located about 15 minutes walking time from the Dupont Circle Metro. For us, that was a plus because we try to take a 30 minute brisk walk everyday. There is a Safeway within a 10 minute walk, as well as, several other eateries and boutique shops in a 10 minute walking radius.

Travel tip: If using the Metro, buy a Smartcard for $2 and load it with fares as needed at entrance to any Metro station. Also, if you are a senior, there is a Senior Smart Card that allows you to ride at half price. However, getting the Senior card requires you to purchase online (recommended), or at a "Commuter Store" which we found there are only a few available. One is at Rosslyn stop.
