Moon Bay #31 is a wonderful complex located on the majestic south shore. Just a few (barefoot) steps from the condo will lead you to the beach. Snorkeling the reef is a favourite activity here—it is teeming with vibrant and fascinating sea life. At the right time of year the beach at Moon Bay is a common spot for newly hatched sea turtle migration. Stay here in May through September and you may be able to watch the little guys hatch in their nests on the beach and make their long journey into the sea. Be sure to keep your lights off and no flashlights if you venture to the beach at night as the bright lights can damage the eggs and scare the mother turtles away

Moon Bay #31 is a second floor unit and sleeps 4 guest. There is one king bedroom, a second bedroom with two twin beds and a deluxe Areo mattress for overflow guests. Each room is washed in tropical sunlight and the common area in the kitchen and living room boasts garden views through sliding glass doors leading to the balcony. You also have full access to the complex’s amenities, like a communal ocean-view pool and tennis courts.

Interior upgrades at Moon Bay #31 include a new bathroom with modern tile and walk-in shower, and new appliances in the kitchen, new furnishings and artwork, and a brand-new array of plush towels and soft linens.

Bodden Town is a historic area occupying a thin peninsula on Grand Cayman, surrounded by the Caribbean Sea. Perfect for a family!

Accommodated a family of 5 (2 kids) well. Stocked very well from cooking utensils, water noodles to beach towels. Washer and dryer in unit was a huge bonus. The screened in porch was very refreshing. Enjoyed the location away from 7 mile beach but close enough to drive there if desired. We stayed during the busy time of the season yet would have the Moon Bay beach/pool all to ourselves often. I would stay there again and even spoke to other permanent residents at Moon Bay about purchasing a unit. Guests/residents were very kind, respectful and curteous. We did not want the typical tourist/spring break experience. This was perfect.

Excellent stay at Moon Bay

We very much enjoyed our recent stay at Moon Bay. The location is a bit of drive from central George Town, but the complex is quiet, well-maintained, and close to all necessary amenities. The unit itself was impeccably clean and outfitted with everything we could have possibly needed, including a fully equipped kitchen and plenty of bath and beach towels. The manager, Penny, went above and beyond to assist us when we confused the check-in process, and also offered tons of information and recommendations to help us make the most of our stay on the island. All in all, an excellent stay.

Just okay

We found this Moon Bay condo to be just okay. It was clean and well maintained, and Moon Bay is an appealing property. But overall, there were a lot of little things that detracted from our enjoyment of the place. Noisy AC, noisy ceiling fans, scratchy sheets, lumpy, springy bed, lot and lots of traffic noise, no bulb in the bedside lamp, very shallow water for a long way off the beach, and Bodden Town isn't near anything. Everything is a 20 minute drive. Just a few local restaurants nearby, which are fine, but nothing special.

We've stayed in other VRBO's in the Caribbean and Europe, but this condo was the most sparcely provisioned. Most have coffee, cooking oil or Pam, lots of cooking spices and other basics, soaps and shampoos. In Paris, they even left a welcome bottle of wine. At Moon Bay, there was were salt and pepper shakers (with duct taped bottoms?), hand and dish soap, coffee filters and sunscreen. We were underwhelmed, which sums up our feeling about the place.

The TV remote is rubber-banded together, and as another reviewer wrote, you have switch the HDMI cables to watch a DVD. Not a big deal, but annoying to fiddle with remotes for a long time only to finally figure out they don't work to play a DVD.

Understand what you are renting

First I would like to say we have been to Grand Cayman before. The unit was well furnished and clean with one exception. The patio had not been cleaned in some time, don't go barefoot there.

Understand the view, I did not see it said garden view, your views are a light and power pole with a bunch a wires, a tackle shop trailer, and a grass courtyard for the chickens, they are normal in CI. The picture of the beach in the advertisement is all you get for a beach, this was fine for us, but if you want to swim you will need dive shoes or something to protect your feet it is sharp rocky bottom and turtle grass not sand.

Make sure the rental company has the storm windows unlocked before you go, we had to wait for property manager for a hour with groceries and bags after a long day.

Be aware the island has sugar ants. This is common I was told, if you put food on the kitchen counter it will be swarmed with ants in no time, even food preparation needed to be done with this in mind. We used dish soap around the kitchen windows this did help out a bit.

You will need to buy laundry soap to at least wash the towels if you are staying more then a few days.

If you want to watch TV it is limited it will buffer on and off I was told this is because internet is slow in the islands. I had to switch AV cable for the dvd's hdmi cable as the connection was wore out in the cable box for the AV cable.

We enjoyed our stay this is not to bash the property just to advise you to what you are getting.

The Property Manager had a busy day of check-ins that day and was just not able to get to Moon Bay in time for your arrival. She has assured us that should this happen again, she will get someone to help her out! This is a gardenview unit, facing south, and looking east you will see the complex parking lot and tennis court. Sugar ants can be a nuisance in the tropics, and all properties are treated every quarter to try and keep them to a minimum. This is a great location for snorkelling and we will be sure to have the Television serviced and fixed right away. A wonderful stay at #31 Moon Bay

The Condo was very clean and well appointed. It has a good working kitchen, comfortable beds (including an extra inflatable mattress) and worked well for our family of five. The neighbors were very friendly and we enjoyed getting to know several of them. The beach is lovely and the snorkeling is great directly behind the condo. The only thing missing is there is no grill.
