This is truly a “One-of-a-Kind”, spectacular custom-built luxury home, completed in 2015, and located on a private estate, 3.4 miles from Main Street in Blowing Rock, nestled along the John’s River on 175 acres with over five miles of trails and roads. (Please see over twenty five star reviews from another owned VRBO Property Listing #496559 for this owner). This unique setting surrounds you with nature in a luxury environment. You approach this property by traveling down a state maintained gravel road for 3.4 miles to enter the key coded electronic gate at the property entrance and you are surrounded by thousands of acres of the Pisgah National Forest on three sides of this property. You will be overlooking the pasture and the rushing John’s River.

This home was custom built with design furnishings throughout, including Hickory Chair furniture, Thermador brand kitchen appliances, antique and rustic furnishings and many more high-quality touches throughout.

Enter the main level through either solid Anderson wood doors and you will be greeted by kitchen and family room with 42 foot tall stone fire place with each stone selectively hand picked on the property. There is also a similar outdoor fireplace under a covered porch of cedar with beams. The hearths are four feet by four feet offering tremendous heat, comfort and attractiveness. From the family room, you can view the river, waterfall, pasture and surrounding trees. The view is extensive (see pictures). The kitchen has a custom reclaimed barn wood designed island, which seats four, and custom reclaimed barn wood table for eight together with granite counter tops throughout. The kitchen floors are all reclaimed barn wood, surrounding by spruce stained walls. There is plenty of room for the chefs in the group with stainless steel professional Thermador appliances and every item you may require for cooking your favorite dishes and entertaining. The family/living area is furnished with Franco sectional sofa, three side chairs, 50 inch HDTV Samsung TV (Dish Network), coffee table set over a Kilim Afghan rug. This is arranged around a beautiful stone fireplace, stretching to the ceiling with various artwork and professional photography throughout the main level as well as the entire home. There is also a half bath with stainless sink on this level, locker room and laundry room with stand up Maytag washer and dryer. Cuisinart coffee maker, toaster and blender are also available.

There are two master suites upstairs, one that you enter through a private hall and occupies the southern portion of the second story barn section. Decorated with white wash spruce walls on one side and view of the river from the side window, it features a ceiling fan, furniture by local Restoration Hardware and North Carolina company Hickory Chair, including a King bed and two sitting areas together with 42 inch HDTV. There is a master bath, with separate tub and glassed in shower. There are two vanities in this bath with Delicatus granite counters. There is a walk in closet in this master.

There is another master suite on this level featuring reclaimed barn wood walls with spruce trimmed window and closet trim. There are views of the stream as well as 46 inch HDTV for your enjoyment. This room is lavishly decorated with King Maison Panel Restoration Hardwood bed, antique books and other amenities with double vanity and Delicatus granite. This Master Bath also has double vanities and glass shower.

Additionally upstairs includes the “Rec Room Man Cave” with new C.C. Bailey Duke Pool Table, Maxwell leather sofa sectional, deer hide foot rests, 54 inch HDTV, several chairs, including cast iron tractor stools, reclaimed barn wood wall, together with display Dutch Shipyard book case and a hanging seven foot alligator to provide the ultimate “man cave”. All of this overlooks the John’s River. The next room includes three “full size” custom built, bunk beds and plenty of closet space. There is also a full bath off the bunk and rec room with Vyara granite counters together with an additional full bath in the upstairs hallway. There is an additional guest bedroom with queen bed and beautiful furnishings together with guest bathroom with Sage Brush granite counter top and walk-in closet.

There are a total of five full baths available in this home with granite and stone together with glass door showers and one half bath on the first floor.

The outdoor area includes a large front deck (14x42) together with an outdoor fireplace, seating, gas grill and beautiful views of stream, trees, pasture, waterfall, etc. There is also a hammock across the stream for peaceful relaxation. There are miles of hiking trails on the property for you, your family and guests. Please keep in mind that you are surrounded by thousands of acres of the Pisgah National Forest and animals exist (please do not keep any food outside overnight).

This is a difficult place to leave once you arrive, but you are only 3.4 miles from Main Street in Blowing Rock (10 minute drive). The home is central to all the area's ski and tubing resorts, as well as other great High Country attractions such as ziplining, rafting, hiking, and more. Fabulous shopping and five-star dining is just moments away as well.

Amenities: Air conditioning, pet friendly (downstairs only to well trained dogs- not upper level), gas grill, internet, WiFi, two wood fireplaces (only outdoor fireplace during the summer), southern pasture views, northern and southern river views, gravel roads and hiking trails throughout, gated private entrance to property and large deck.

We are offering this home for families to have an enjoyable and memorable vacation in a unique private setting, yet close to town. Additionally, there is abundant wildlife throughout. We have rented an additional home over the last year on VRBO (#496559 - please see reviews) with wonderful guests, which provides us the confidence to rent this home a few weeks a year.

For a few restrictions, the lower barn section of this home will be unavailable to protect the guests from heavy equipment and machinery required to maintain the pasture, garden and trails. There is NO HUNTING and NO FISHING on this property. The National Wildlife Department has visited the property and our goal is to increase the fish population in the stream and improve wildlife habitat. We will provide a limited amount of “Trout Pellets” for you to feed the fish. The maintenance crew periodically improves and inspects the trails for fallen timber and may cut the pasture during your stay. You will not be disturbed at the home and you will probably not even know they are on the land.

Once within the property, there is a fork in the road past the house and a sign with names leading to the right. Please refrain from entering this area of the property as two families have a “right of way” through our land to enter and exit their property, which they have owned for years. There is a tremendous amount of privacy on this property for you, family and friends to enjoy.

Very beautiful home, well equipped and clean!

  • 5 of 5

The home was very well equipped and clean! Beautiful piece of property... with running stream close enough to sit outside and hear and lots of space to run around and hike!! Very convenient location in Blowing Rock once you get to Main Street! The owner was a pleasure to deal with and made everything very easy! I would love to revisit this home in the summertime when the hiking would be fabulous!!

Thanks Jeff for a great weekend!

Comfy, homey, beautiful river as soon you open the door!

  • 5 of 5

Maybe the house is a little hidden but on arrival you can appreciate it as it is next to a beautiful river.

We went skiing to appalachian mountain which is only 30 min away and very close is the main avenue with restaurants and picturesque shops.

The house is extremely comfortable, the beds are delicious, we all sleep like angels and the fireplace was the star of the day because kept the whole family together talking and resting.

Mr. Jeff has all the details covered in writing and he is very kind when answering emails, the communication was always very good.

Mrs. Joyce bought us the fruits and vegetables in the market and when we arrived we had everything organized in the kitchen

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind and thoughtful comments regarding your stay at our home and in Blowing Rock. We truly enjoy hearing that you and your family had a great experience on the property as Joyce, Karli and the rest of the crew do a wonderful job preparing the home and they certainly appreciate your comments. Also, we are glad you enjoyed the fireplace as it is one of the unique features of the property at 52 feet with a 4x4 hearth and each stone was hand picked from the property, plus the fire wood is aged for beautiful burning fires! We are glad you enjoyed it. Please do not hesitate to contact us again. Regards, Jeff

awesome property . Everything you want for a mountain get away

  • 5 of 5

This property was excellent. From the time you first register till you leave the property owner was in touch and helpful. The property is just as it was advertised. the perfect mountain getaway. Would do this again in a minute. There was everything you needed at the house when you arrived, right down to marshmallows for the fire. If you want a place to really get away but be only 4 miles from the center of blowing rock you can't beat this place. Could not think of one thing I would do different if I owned it. Just come, relax and have a great time.

Beautiful Home and Property

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful stay at your beautiful home. Professionally decorated. More then enough room for everyone, we had 6 adults and 3 kids. Kitchen supplied with all your needs. Loved sitting on that front porch listening to the babbling creek. Very peaceful place. Our group enjoyed exploring all the property. We tested out our balance skills hopping from rock to rock over the creek. Thank you for sharing the veggies in your garden. We made veggie omelette every morning. I highly recommend this place and definitely will return. Jeff was very very easy and helpful to work with.

The Ultimate NC Mountain Retreat.

  • 5 of 5

This property is extraordinarily!! The home itself is immaculate with everything you could ever need being provided for you from luxury linens to all the ingredients to make the perfect smore by the campfire. Although the home itself is amazing the land is what makes this property so special. Miles

of hiking trails, open pastures, a beautiful stream, and a vegetable garden that will inspire your meals. My husband and I vacationed here with our four year old daughter and it was perfect. Cannot wait to go back.
