Best VRBO I've ever stayed in

  • 5 of 5

My family has stayed in a number of VRBO rentals over the last couple of years and this is by far the best. Others were very nice, but the hosts at Circa 1885 go above and beyond to make sure their home is comfortable and welcoming. The location can't be beat, and the apartment is extremely well set up with comfortable, high quality furniture and decor. It looks great in the photos, but it's even nicer in person. The many thoughtful extras (toiletries, snacks, even a bottle of wine) made us feel welcome and cared for. We also appreciated the excellent communication before and during our visit. Lisa made sure we had all the information we needed for our stay and responded quickly to any inquires.

We really enjoyed our stay in Annapolis and thank Lisa and John for helping to make it great!

Exactly what we wanted close to downtown and usna

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was wonderful. We were close to the yard and baseball field plus could walk and enjoy downtown Annapolis. Wish we found this 3 years ago.

Amazing in every way, will go back again and again!

  • 5 of 5

Lisa and John are the best home rental hosts one could ask for. They were very responsive, detailed, and thoughtful throughout our interactions. As other reviewers have mentioned, Lisa and John had thoughtfully anticipated every need and we were delighted during our stay (starting with walking into the house to find a nice bottle of wine and a delicious, home-baked pumpkin spice bread) to find provisions that many other hosts often don't think to provide, such as a Brita water filter (that was full and in the fridge so we had a refreshing drink after a long drive), extra towels and blankets, snacks, and a good selection of DVD's that were appropriate for the whole family (3 generations, 3 adults, 2 kids (10, 13)). The rooms were also thoughtfully arranged so that sockets and power strips were easily located and accessed, which is a big deal for any family traveling with lots of laptops, tablets, and phones. The beds and other furniture were comfortable, and we didn't find the street noise to be an issue, thanks to the white noise machines. The location was perfect, too. Finally, due to some changed plans on our last day, we asked Lisa and John if we could have a late checkout for an extra fee, and because they didn't have anyone coming in the next day, they told us to take as long as we needed and refused to charge us at all! So generous! We couldn't have asked for a better experience and will stay in this house every time we are in Annapolis. Thank you so much! ~Lisa and Ray

Wonderful place!

  • 5 of 5

Perfect location, great amenities. Adorable old clawfoot tub. Some of the reviews mention noise but it didn't seem noisy Saturday or Sunday morning. The white noise machines provided are great.

We really enjoyed walking to the Naval Academy since it was pretty much across the street! The shops/restaurants were also really close. Street parking was tricky but there were several parking garages close by. Once the car was parked in a garage, we didn't even need it since we could walk everywhere!

Very pleasant stay

  • 5 of 5

Very much enjoyed our stay here. Loved the blackout curtains-- so helpful and so many other places do not think of this. There is a fair amount of noise from traffic, but the white noise makers they provide make all the difference. Lisa was very attentive to our needs while we were there. A very pleasant stay!!

Thought of everything!

  • 4 of 5

This was a first time renting this property. Our son is a Mid so the location was convenient. It is right next to Gate 1. Can walk everywhere. The apartment was decorated beautifully. A gift bag with fresh Pumpkin bread was on the table. Nice! Bottled water, sparking water and even a bottle of wine were in fridge for us! Snacks, coffee etc. Lots of towels available which was nice as was the toiletries. They really did think of everything! As the location is on a busy street, the road noise is pretty loud. This house is old so the windows to not muffle noise like new windows. My one suggestion would be to somehow make the kitchen step up more noticeable. Several people visiting tripped because you don’t really see it. Other than that, everything was pretty great! Thank you for taking good care of us! My Mid slept like a baby!

Owner's Response: Thank you Becky & Sean for staying w/us! This old gal of a house does have its quirks, and we continue to work on her, perfecting as we go since ownership in 2012. Each year doing a little more, and more. We're sorry to hear about your guests difficulty 'seeing the step' up into the kitchen. This is a first for us in the 3 yrs we've been with VRBO / HomeAway. We're pleased to hear your son 'slept like a baby' while here. Best Wishes while your son is at the academy. Lisa & John Circa 1885
