Across the stream is an historical cabin where you can explore, sit and relax in its shade from the opposite side. Next to the chalet is a beautiful lawn and picnic table. You might want to stream wade from this point.

Nestled in the Western North Carolina Mountains, the Blue Ridge Stream Chalet is a perfect place to unwind, relax and enjoy time away. Sitting on the deck and listening to the stream is so peaceful and the house is a very comfortable and cozy home. You feel you are in the middle of nowhere but still close enough to the quaint towns of Cashiers and Highlands, beautiful Lake Glenville, exceptional golf courses and many hiking opportunities. My family has been vacationing in the Cashiers/Glenville area for 27+ years. We have stayed at the Chalet many times during these vacations and have enjoyed the hospitality that is included with this cozy home!

The cabin was perfect for us and the stream being right there was awesome

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at the cabin walking down to see the horses and sitting by the stream. It was just far enough from town to feel secluded but still convenient for food and shopping

COZY

  • 3 of 5

It's a very cozy cabin, has all you need, but it's small, so it's a little tight when trying to cook or even if you're sharing bathroom space. It's nice property to walk around, neighbors were nice, and there are two horses in a fenced-in pasture that you can feed, which was fun; we gave them carrots and they were very friendly. The deck and the beautiful running stream underneath deck was great, but the slider going out to the deck was a problem, very hard to lock/unlock and open. I had to have my husband do it every time because it takes strength, so it needs some adjusting, maybe some elbow grease. The cable was down when we got there, so we called, and we were told the dish was knocked out because of a tree limb, so we went first night without cable. It eventually got fixed, but it would go in and out all week long and we had to keep rebooting

There was a bad storm for one day while there and electrical and all power went out, including electric well, so water shut down as well. We decided to leave for a couple hours since nothing worked, and we let Sherry, the manager of house, know, and by the time we got back late that afternoon and storm was over, everything was working again. She definitely was right on it if you had any problems.

We wanted to take advantage of membership for a week at Trillium, but it was like pulling teeth getting information at first, which means we lost two days of being able to use the gym facility. I think if this weekly membership is offered with the house, all the information and the gym card pass should all be in place ahead of time, including codes to get into facility, so we're not making multiple calls to the golf club and/or management trying to figure all this out.

Once we did figure it out, the gym facility is very nice, and we played golf one day and the course was beautiful. Be aware that the membership is a limited membership, which restricts the tee times.

Overall, it's a fine little getaway, and Sherry did a great job getting things fixed and helping with anything we needed.

perfect family getaway

  • 5 of 5

We came to escape hurricane Irma and it turned into a perfect family escape. The chalet was adorable. My kids loved the loft and stream and feeding the horses and my husband loved the patio to grill and sit outside watching the kids in the stream. We played cards and games (they were in the chalet) and the wifi allowed me to keep up to date with work. Location was great, close to waterfalls, hiking and a grocery store so we could grill out (we did it all). It is hard to rent on VBRO w/o seeing (at least for me) but this was a find that was excellent and they welcomed by dog!! I trust your family will love as well. Very relaxing and beautiful space. Chalet is equipped with everything you could need. Thank you to Sherry who was very helpful.

Owner's Response: Kelly! We are so glad you and your family enjoyed your stay at the Chalet! The Chalet is a very special place and the owners are accommodating with pets and the historical surrounding area. Norton Stream is awesome for all ages! We are all animal lovers here on Quail Ridge Rd, and feeding treats to the horses is always fun! We hope you will return when there is not a hurricane, but we thank you for visiting and hope to see you again! Thank you such a wonderful review! Blue Ridge Stream Chalet

Lovely, secluded, oasis in the trees

  • 5 of 5

Stream side chalet is a wonderful hideaway where one can relax on the deck, listen to the water flowing beneath you and feel totally secluded, yet you're only minutes from Cashiers. We watched the solar eclipse completely isolated from the thousands of people who gathered in Cashiers for the event. Though private, we played golf at Trillium Links by purchasing a guest amenities package that I would highly recommend. The chalet is small, would not recommend for more than a couple (one bedroom/one bath) however it does have a loft that kids would love. The kitchen is also small but we grilled out every night enjoying candle light dinners on the deck. Given the location, the amenities and the serene beauty, I would recommend and return to the Stream side chalet again. Oh, and don't forget to bring some carrots to feed the horses in the pastures nearby. Truely a back to nature experience.

Beautiful Location!

  • 5 of 5

The charming chalet was beautiful and the manager and owners took very good care of us. Whenever we needed anything they were right there to help us and always friendly. The location was very clean and worked perfectly for us. We had our wedding alongside of the stream and it was amazing. The grounds were well kept and it had rained recently which made the stream almost like a river with how much water was coming through. Every morning is a must to go out on the deck and enjoy the sun creep through the trees. Absolutely stunning and worth going back to the location! Our dogs loved the property and going for walks in the area. This location is not far from the grocery store or restaurants. I would recommend this place to anyone.
