About Robert Donigan

I am a real estate sales person working for a major brokerage with a concentration in Brooklyn. I also sell in Manhattan and Queens. I am also a serious musician (drums) and always find time to play. My wife Jan is a copywriter with a major ad agency in Manhattan and has been in Brooklyn since 1983. I moved here in 1991 and need only 1 more year to be accepted as a real Brooklynite (a joke but not really). As much as we like to travel we hate to leave Brooklyn.

Robert Donigan purchased this apartment in 2003

Why Robert Donigan chose Park Slope

Jan and I bought a house here so our son could go to a superb public school. Ironically he needed a small class and ended up going to a private school next door to our house. No one wanted this house because it is next to a school. Now no one cares if there is a school next door. The house also lets us rent out the top 2 floors, we live on the next 2 and the VRBO rental is the garden apartment.

What makes this apartment unique

The previous owner Mildred lived here for over 50 years. She did not pull any of the original details out which was great for us but left us with a lot of repairs and leaks. We've made may improvements to enhance what is here. People here take pride in their homes and the area is considered one of the best places to live in the US. We love the diversity and freedom you have here. Everyone is different and no one cares what you do or where you come from. Paradise.

Impossible to get bored here. Ask me for advice on anything Brooklyn. I am also a real estate agent and have to be up on the latest goings on here. Once you get to know Brooklynites a bit we are friendly and always looking to help. You ain't in Kansas anymore though.

Great Spot

  • 5 of 5

I loved this place. Amazing location next to the park and close to the Grand Army subway station. Bedroom and living room are really big. We used the pull out in the living room too. Really comfortable. Tv worked great, kitchen was clean and had everything we needed. Bathroom is small but very clean. It worked well for us. There's also a beautiful backyard if you need a break from the city noise. My family had a great time here and plan to book here again in the future. The property owner, Robert, is also very nice and friendly. He helped us get the keys and gave us a tour of the property to make us feel at home.

The most perfect apartment

  • 5 of 5

My family had the best stay here. Everything was thought of from amazing guide books to all the kitchens needs you would find in your own home. The apartment is stylish, warm for winter and quiet/peaceful. We hope to return very soon. Bob was the best host!

The host is really nice, very helpful. If you do not mind the apartment is in a basement, it is perfect.

More than just accomodations

  • 4 of 5

If you are looking for something more than just a place to stay, this is for you. Think Downton Abbey. 1910 building with so much charm! Comfortable, clean, great neighbor hood. Coming from California I was not so sure about safety in Brooklyn. My sisters and I had nothing to fear. We felt safe even coming home after dark on an evening walk. Great places for breakfast well within walking distance. Landlord met us and gave us a great tour with explanations for so much about the building. Patio comes with the apartment. I would not hesitate to refer friends. Oh, and a really great price!

Car: not necessary

Brooklyn has come into its own in the last 10 years or so. Lots to do here. World class museums, restaurants, parks. Very easy to get around. You won't need a car here but if you do there are cabs and car services. Subways close by. One could stay in Brooklyn for a week and find enough interesting things to do. 15 minutes by subway to Manhattan. What's not to love?
