Perfect retreat from this busy world. 1850's peaceful house on 5 acres with oceanfront and a barn. Our home is rustic as we are always trying to renew it and have enjoyed putting our own touch into the house.
Love cappuccinos?... Green Tree Coffee Roasters, featured in the NY Times, is across the street. Nothing can compare to waking up downwind on a roasting day. Dots bakery and gourmet sandwich shop is a couple doors down - perfect for a picnic lunch, quiche breakfast or a perfect wine. Walk down the property with stair access to the ocean (0.5m) and then walk down the rock beach to Lincolnville Beach - my kids favorite. Or just relax in the Adirondack chairs and watch the boats. Walking distance to the Islesboro ferry - take a day trip to this beautiful island.
The kitchen has a big bay window and window seat which is perfect for relaxing. For those who love cooking, the kitchen is equipped with a professional gas stove with double oven.
We have done a bit of renovating this year. The exterior has needed painting badly, but it has been very difficult the past two years to find available painters or handymen. But we have been updating it ourselves and have finally gotten around the front. We have replaced a lot of the tired screens as well.
There is a dining room and living room as well as the library bedroom, which has a queen bed. The downstairs bathroom has a shower. The upstairs features beautiful 12" pumpkin pine boards. The upstairs has two bedrooms and a full bath with a tub. The upstairs also has an additional bedroom that faces the water, but the ceiling is not full height (which why I don't include it in the total bedrooms). In total, three bedrooms, two bath and a queen pullout couch in the living room.
Our barn still has its rustic charm and its own unique history. Jane Wazey, a previous owner used the barn as her art studio and carved the Andre the Seal statue. The statue is located in Rockport Harbor. If you are not familiar with the story about Andre the Seal, he lived with a local family and would return every year. It is worth reading the book or watching the movie before you come visit, especially if you have young children.
