While you're here, plan a visit to the Biltmore Estate to see their fabulous grounds, grand house, winery restaurants. Browse the unique shops in Asheville and Black Mountain. There is something of interest for everyone. Dine on some of the tastiest, most creative dishes in western North Carolina. There are lots of restaurants, local breweries and wineries to visit.

Or take a leisurely drive over to Lake Lure. Walk through town and visit their interesting shops, pan for gems, and eat at any of their delicious restaurants. Stop and walk through the Flowering Bridge, it's beautiful any time of the year. Chimney Rock state park is waiting for you to visit while you're in Lake Lure. We're 12 miles to downtown Asheville, 20 minutes to the Biltmore, Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. We're only 7 miles to the entrance for the Blue Ridge Parkway, which you can take to the Folk Art Center. It's a "must see" when you're in the area. They have a museum, crafts from all over Appalachia, and craft exhibitions. If you'd like to see the local wildlife, we are about 9 miles from the North Carolina Nature Center. The center is 42 acres and has more than 60 animal species.

It can sometimes have an off color. It is not harmful, but we do supply bottled drinking water for those not used to well water.

Great stay!
We really enjoyed our stay. Valerie was a wonderful host & the spot was perfect for us. The backyard was great for the pups & also came equipped with a grill and fire pit. Will definitely be back next time I’m in Asheville!

Small but quaint
Valerie was an amazing host! The space was clean and very dog friendly! Valerie provided some snacks and beverages, and it was very clean! The water does have a very strong smell and a slight yellow tint, but no complaints here! It’s a very small space, but was perfect for my husband and me, our infant, and our 2 dogs!

Great Stay!
We had a wonderful time at Valerie's place! My husband and I booked our trip for NYE only a few weeks in advance, and it was a perfect option for us and our dog. We didn't need anything else while staying there- Valerie went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable after an 8+ hour drive. We would definitely stay here again!

Incredibly Cozy Home Away from Home
Wow, just such a splendid property full of coziness and love. Staying in this property with my pups was so nourishing and connecting. It has the perfect little backyard for dogs, a cozy kitchen and an incredibly comfortable bed. Wonderful location with beautiful foliage. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to chat with Valerie upon arrival and departure and appreciate her hospitality, warmth and hosting. I will definitely be back!

About the host

Hosted by Carl and Valerie

Host profile image
Valerie and I are transplants from deep in the woods of Maine. We came here on vacation in January of 2012. We had read that people come here and hear the mountains calling them. We heard, went home, packed up, sold the house and here we are. We have never regretted our move.

We are laid back, "go with the flow" people that want our guests to enjoy the peace of our property.

Why they chose this property

We chose this house because our land is so beautiful. When we bought it, it had been vacant for years . We have spent the past few years bringing our land back to a beautiful, park like setting.

What makes this property unique

We are so close to a multitude of attractions, but when you come home, you are in a safe, peaceful area with close up views of the mountain tops. We have the occasional cow, and chickens that wander through our yard. We also have a multitude of local wildlife; deer and bears You may catch a glimpse of some of them.
