We have a long history in the Finger Lakes, growing up in the area and spending summers on Canandaigua Lake as children. When we started our family, we decided that we wanted a summer cottage so that our children could have the wonderful experience of summer lake life, just like we did! So we bought a home on Seneca Lake in the mid-1990s. Over the years we've lived in many places -- Europe, Florida, Seattle -- and we currently have our primary residence in Seattle. But we always come home to Seneca Lake for the summer.
Arthur and Donna Fausel (EXCLUSIVE MANAGERS) purchased this cottage in 2006
We discovered Seneca Lake in 1996 and have owned our home on the lake ever since. Our children grew up spending summers on the lake, it's our home base. In 2006, we had the chance to buy the cottage (which is located very close to our home) from friends who had owned it for many years but were retiring and leaving the area. We jumped at the opportunity, we'd always loved the cottage. We completely updated/renovated it with summer and vacation in mind, it's such a happy place filled with light and color. While we offer the cottage for rental to guests, we also use it for our own family and friends when they come to visit, thus we treat and care for it as we do our own home. We still spend our summers on the lake and although our kids are mostly grown and have busy lives of their own, they still return to the lake each summer for a brotherly bonding and fun.
The cottage is very special. It's sunny and filled with light, and the many windows look out on the amazing Seneca Lake. The front porch is magical, it's covered (offering a break from the sun) and built over the water, so you feel like you're on top of the lake! So quiet and peaceful and restful, you feel like you are miles and miles away from civilization, yet there are fabulous wineries and local restaurants just up the road!
My Girlfriend, our dog and I had an awesome 3 night stay at the cottage on the lake! And if you can't tell by the pictures you are RIGHT on the lake. It's very private and very homey. Also there are a TON of breweries and wineries very very close which was awesome. There are some also some great parks you can take the dog for a walk on near by. A great getaway from the bustle of the city. Definitely would recommend for a couple getaway! We have already told people about it!
My husband and I had a wonderful time at smooth sailing cottage. The cottage has all the necessary amenities, and it offers a beautiful view of the lake! We will definitely be returning to this wonderfully relaxing oasis on lake seneca!
We love coming to smooth sailing cottage. It is one of the most relaxing places we’ve ever been. Sometimes we don’t even leave the cottage for the day. If we do leave the area is amazing from the wineries and restaurants to the small towns all the way up to chimney Bluffs State Park on Lake Ontario. Fabulous place to stay and wonderful hosts!!!!
This is a one of a kind rental property when you combine the location to great wineries and the views from the house.
We had the best time at the cottage on the lake! Wonderful views!! The owners were accommodating! Everything we needed was supplied!! Can't wait to go back!!
This was our second time at this property, after last year we decided we wanted to come back and stay longer, so we spent an entire week. It was wonderful! The house is clean, has all the necessities and many perks. We love the outdoor areas and the views are amazing. It is a great home base to explore the finger lakes region or just stay on the deck and enjoy the view. We will be back next year for sure!
This special home is located waterfront on the eastern shore of Seneca Lake, in the heart of the Finger Lakes region of New York State, one of the most beautiful places in America. Located about 5 miles north of Watkins Glen (Nascar track), the cottage is on a private lake road, surrounded by forest and vineyards, in the heart of the Finger Lakes wine country. All along the east side of the lake -- and just minutes from the cottage -- are numerous wineries, micro-breweries, artisan craft shops, farm stands featuring local produce and cheese, and amazing restaurants. Added charm comes from the Amish buggies and farms that are throughout the area. And just a 1/2 hour drive to Ithaca (Cornell University, Ithaca College) to the east, Corning (Corning Inc., Corning Glass Museum) to the south, and Geneva to the north, all amazing towns offering many attractions. The home sits on Seneca Lake, the deepest and largest of the Finger Lakes, an amazingly clean and beautiful lake.
