About Vacasa, MA - Martha's Vineyard Office

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

A Rocky Start, But a Pretty Good Trip

  • 3 of 5

My family and I had an overall positive experience in this home.

The good:

- more spacious than the photos lead me to believe

- walking distance to the town center and the ferry

- well equipped with kitchen equipment and a random hodgepodge of spices etc.

Needs Improvement

- when we arrived the home had not been flipped--linens were dirty and on the floor, the trash bins were overflowing, and overall the home was not suitable for guests. We contacted management and they sent a cleaning crew, but this was an undesired stressor at the end of a long stretch of traveling. Management agreed to some compensation, as yet not received.

- there seem to be some issues with the windows--many of them had detached handles and we found it challenging to open windows.

- the pillows have seen better days--bring your own if you care about having a pillow with volume.

While we would return here, we would also consider changing homes.

Unkempt house with inadequate ammenities

  • 1 of 5

The pictures on the listing do not adequately represent the condition of the furniture, house or property. Though the house was clean on arrival, we were unpleasantly surprised to find the kitchen was inadequately supplied with the necessary utensils for our party of six. There were only four forks and three spoons and no coffee maker, no wine glasses and only a sparse number of odd drinking glasses including a handful of plastic cups. Most of the windows had broken window cranks which made it a challenge to open and close the windows. The bathroom sinks drained slowly and the manager did come over and dump draino down the drain which really didn't help. Thankfully the manager of the property came to the rescue and promptly delivered new silverware and coffee maker. Additionally there were no kitchen towels. We used our own purchased paper towels instead. There was a missing shelf in the fridge which made organizing our food impossible and one of the drawers in the fridge was broken so we couldn't open it. The worst of the problems is we had two mice running around the kitchen at night. We noticed this the night before we left so we didn't have time to tell the manager...though we did text him a list of all the problems. He never got back to us. All in all we were not happy with this property.

The bathrooms were cleaned before our arrival and fresh sheets (though rough) on the beds. However the upstairs double/queen bed had a stained comforter on it. The master bathroom had some black mold in the tub area. There were little black flies flying around. The bathroom door was cracked and the window was stuck open (couldn't open further nor close it). Doorknobs falling off. Knobs missing on the kitchen cabinets. They mats in the bathroom and under the master bed were dirty. The tree limb near the parking hung so low one of our friends didn't see it and hit his head on it and got a cut. All in all a failure! This house gets an "F"!

The price point was pretty good however, we experienced bug infestation of nats and flys. Nightly we would kill at least 40 bugs before we went to bed to be able to rest comfortably I had a hard time resting due to having to fight off insects. In addition, it was very dark when we arrived to the house, there was no outside lighting which made it very difficult to see to get the key out of the lockbox. Another issue we experienced was the TV in the master bedroom only had 1channel and the other TVs had very limited channels in addition to one bedroom had no TV at all. When we mentioned this to the property manager he had me to call Comcast to try to fix the problem, which was a huge inconvenience I didn't want to be on the line with Comcast for a long period of time while on vacation. The steps were a little difficult to climb, no A/C in the house made the upstairs bedrooms warm. The beds were hard and not comfortable and the landscape was unkept. If these issues are corrected it will make the next guest have an more enjoyable stay.
