Inside- wood stove, wood flrs, pool table, custom bar. Outside- screened-in sleeping/yoga room in woods, deck w/ pond, salamanders, dragonflies, crayfish and endless ferns & flowers.
A designer by trade, I spent a decade (living in &) customizing this home with contemporary finishes and unique details. Here, you will find original art, stylish decor and quality appliances.
The updated kitchen boasts concrete counter tops, and acid-washed copper back splashes with a granite island and a propane cook top.
There are wood floors and high ceilings with a contemporary Scandinavian wood stove it's center piece. The hearth is steel with a cultured stone of coral behind.
The downstairs offers a 4th bedroom and party space. Everything is completely custom - from the hickory floors, custom-built 7' light fixtures, curved walled shower, and a bar made from steel, poured concrete and granite. There is a beautiful pool table and a private entry. The (2-car) garage is accessed through the lounge.
Main house has 4 bedrooms and 3 baths on 2 levels, there is a pool table and bar (as well as one bedroom) downstairs, and the house has a 2 car garage.
There is a 40' south-facing deck which is suitable for (private) sun-bathing and al-fresco meals at a travertine table below an umbrella.
There is a deck in "the bog" down below the house, where 3-4 brooks and springs come together. There is a small pond with fish, crayfish and salamanders. All around are plants, flowers, ferns, dragonflies, birds and lots of privacy. There is even a screened-in building "the temple" suitable for eating, sleeping, yoga, meditation, reading etc.
The driveway is streets of San Francisco STEEP, which is not unusual with mountain homes. In the rare occasion that we get a heavy snow, people all over the region tend to leave their cars at the end of the driveway near the road, so little to no shoveling is required.
The Asheville area is known for the Biltmore house, the fantastic restaurants, the dazzling selection of craft breweries, the artistic community, and the rich culture of art and music.
Oh, yeah, and a bunch of weird eccentrics, too, we got that in spades.
