About this property

Ojai Designer Cottage, a Monthly Guest Rental

MONTHLY (31 day) RENTAL TO ADULTS ONLY. Located in the center of the bucolic village of Ojai, is this 2-bedroom, one bath cottage; an exquisitely appointed home with particular attention paid to detail. Furnishings are tasteful; for a discerning guest the experience will be a visual joy, every room perfectly done and fitting to the space.
The back patio area, totally enclosed, offers an outdoor dining table that seats 6, and the sound of the fountain and beauty of the landscape creates a feeling of total tranquility.
The kitchen is fully equipped, with the exception of a microwave and dishwasher. The house is comfortably heated and air-conditioned. There is WiFi and Direct TV basic cable.
Both bedrooms have Queen sized beds, and generous closet and dresser space.
Directly across the street is Libbey Park, the central historic park of Ojai, and out the front door you are just a short walk from the bike path which takes you along a scenic route for miles. There are 5 restaurants within less than a block, 4 coffee houses and 2 wineries within a mile, and all the exciting retail shops that Ojai is famous for. The retail stores and galleries in Ojai are all owner-run, and you won’t find the chain store shopping that exists elsewhere. If you choose to bicycle around town rather than drive, you will find a bike rental shop within a block.
Since the home is so finely decorated, we are limiting the rental to ADULTS ONLY, 30 yrs +, with a maximum of 4 people, NO CHILDREN OR PETS WHATSOEVER, NO SMOKING, no illegal drugs.

Beautiful Designer Cottage
We loved staying at the cottage! The location is perfect, across the street from Libby Park, one block to Westridge Market, and one block to the Main Street with shops and restaurants. Barbara has thought of everything and is an awesome host!

Home away from home
Barb and Sol, the owners of this Chic Cottage become instant like family the moment you move into their absolutely perfect home. It is like being in a spa of your own. Every detail is taken care of from the extremely comfortable beds with high quality linen to the organic detergent for clothes. Art books carefully chosen and an outside terrace for meals. It is a safe and beautiful place which we would definitely come back to.

Relaxing and Clean Cottage
My old roommate and I came to the Ojai cottage for a catch-up/girlfriend weekend; it was the first time for both of us in Ojai. The cottage did not disappoint--it was exactly as described and the location was perfect for walking into town. Barbara the owner, and Laura, the property manager do a wonderful job of decorating/maintaining the home. Quality linens and towels, comfortable beds, ample dishware and glasses abound. We appreciated having cold Pellegrino waiting for us in the fridge upon our arrival and nice-smelling, natural dish, hand, and body soap--thank you for the attention to detail. We really enjoyed reading Barbara's thoughtful in-town recommendations (we walked the trail to the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa and the beautiful hiking trail at the end of Signal). We also thoroughly enjoyed the wicker sofas we lounged in in the front room--perfect for all our chats, with a nice view of the trees and park. I had to do some work and brought my laptop out to the backyard dining area often, which, amid the tranquil water fountain and shade, was a very comfortable place to work. Thank you, Laura and Barbara, for providing such a clean and welcoming home. My friend is not from the area but I will definitely be back!

Ojai Visit
We stayed in the cottage to celebrate my 50th Birthday and it was one of the best homes we've rented through VRBO. The home was very comfortable with beautiful furnishings and a really nice garden in the backyard. There is a park across the street and you're only a block away from the downtown shops and restaurant. I played Golf at both Ojai Valley Inn and Soule Park and it is less than 5 minutes away from the home. Lots of places within walking distance and a great coffee shop I walked to every morning. Very pleased overall with our stay. Dino & Julia Irvine, Ca

About the host

We love interior decor and have travelled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, South America and parts of Africa. During our travels we have collected antique pieces from different countries and used them to accent each room in our cottage. As residents of Ojai, and part of the downtown retail community, we have watched Ojai evolve beautifully into the artful, spiritual village it is today. The cottage was once used as the Krishnamurti bookstore, and to this day has a calming presence within. We work hard as activists within our town to keep the unique individuality that makes Ojai a special place to visit and live.

Why they chose this property

We felt that the tranquil atmosphere, within the cottage and the back patio, lent itself perfectly to having guests who want to be in the center of town and walking distance to everything, yet totally private within their accommodations. Having rented many places over the years, we always wanted beautiful decor, and felt that our guests would appreciate the time and effort we put into creating a unique place for them to stay.

What makes this property unique

Walk out the front door, and you see across the street, historic Libbey Park, and the Libbey Bowl, where summer concerts are held on Wednesday evenings. If you turn to the right, in less than a block you will be on the walking path which goes for miles. If you turn to the left, you will be a half block from the downtown arcade which contains many of the shops, restaurants and galleries. Exactly one block away on Ojai Avenue (the main street), you can join the Oaks at Ojai as a day spa guest and take all their fitness classes.

In the evening, you'll find two wine tasting rooms: The Ojai Vineyard is a block away, and Casa Barranca is a half block away. Both produce fine local wines, and Casa Barranca features organic wines. Or, you can sit on the Cottage’s front porch and enjoy the pink sunset moments, while sipping your favorite beverage.

The Art Center is just across the park and has a running play many months during the year, and various gallery showings. Ojai is famous for festivals and if you look up the Ojai Chamber of Commerce or Ojai Music Festival calendar, you may find one that matches your interest perfectly.
